Influence of manganese rate on structural, optical and electrochemical properties of CeO_(2) thin films deposited by spray pyrolysis:Supercapacitor applications

The present work aimed to investigate the electrochemical properties of ITO substrates in propylene carbonate(PC) with 0.5 mol/l lithium perchlorate(liClO_(4)) medium in the presence of elaborated thin films of cerium dioxide pure and doped with manganese at varying ***_(1-x)Mn_(x)O_(2)(x=0 wt%,2 wt%,4 wt% and 6 wt%) were successfully deposited by the spray pyrolysis(SP) technique on the glass substrate and ITO at 450℃.The effects of manganese(Mn) doped thin films Ce_(1-x)Mn_(x)O_(2) were studied and investigated by using different analyses namely X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis,Raman spectroscopy method,UV-Vis spectrophotometer technique,atomic force microscopy(AFM) analysis and electrochemical *** data obtained present a polycrystalline with a face-centred cubic structure of fluorite *** results of undoped and Mn doped thin films show two peaks at 465 and 600 cm^(-1),due to the formation of extrinsic oxygen vacancies by the incorporation of Mn into Ce1-xMnxO_(2) *** dispersive spectroscopy(EDS) data show the presence of Ce,O,and Mn elements in the elaborated *** AFM results reveal that the surface roughness decreases with increasing Mn ***,band gap energy of thin films decreases with increasing in Mn rate due to the formation of defect state between valence and conduction *** storage capacity of the elaborated Ce_(1-x)Mn_(x)O_(2)/ITO/PC+liClO_(4) electrode reaches a maximum of 1.997 mF in the presence of 6 wt% of Mn.

Study on Atomic Fluorescence Spectrometry Excited by Synchrotron Radiation

A novel analysis approach using atomic fluorescence excited by synchrotron radiation is presented. A system for synchrotron radiation-atomic fluorescence spectrometry is developed, and experimental conditions such as flow rate, analyte acidity, concentration of pre-reducing and hydrogenation system are optimized. The proposed method is successfully applied to get an excitation spectrum of arsenic. Seven of ten primary spectral lines, four of which have never been reported by means of atomic fluorescence spectrometry, agree well with the existing reports. The other three are proposed for the first time. Excitation potentials and possible transitions are investigated. Especially for the prominent line at 234.99 nm, the mechanism of generation is discussed and a model of energy transition processes is proposed.

Hypoglycaemia in screening oral glucose tolerance test in pregnancy with low birth weight fetus

Relative Susceptibility of Four Coleopteran Stored-product Insects to Diatomaceous Earth SilicoSec

laboratory bioassays were conducted to evaluate the insecticidal effect of diatomaceous earth （DE）, SilicoSec against Callosobruchus maculatus （F.）, Rhyzopertha dominica （F.）, Sitophilus zeamais （Motschulsky）, and Tribolium castaneum （Herbst） in cowpea, maize and wheat, at 25-32 ℃ and 54-68% relative humidity （r.h.）. SilicoSec was applied at rates： 0 （untreated control） 250, 500, 750 and 1,000 mg/kg of commodity. Adult mortality was measured after 3 to14 days of exposure. Progeny production was assessed after 40 or 56 days. The tested species varied in sensitivity to SilicoSec, with S. zeamais being most susceptible, but no significant differences in mortality levels observed between R. dominica, C. maculatus or T, castaneum after three days of exposure. After 5 days of exposure, all C. maculates adults died on cowpea treated at 1,000 mg/kg. Similarly, after 14 days of exposure all adults of the other species died on grains treated at 1,000 mg/kg, and were ranked in decreasing order of susceptibility S. zeamais 〉T castaneurn 〉 R. dominica. SilicoSec treatments suppressed progeny production （30 to 100%） in all the tested species. The implications of these findings to DE-based control strategy are discussed.

Spontaneous Spinal Epidural Hematoma Causing Paraplegia: A Case Report

A spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma without any identified etiology is a very rare entity. We report here a 44 years old woman admitted within our department for 04 days of severe back pain complicated rapidly of bilateral lower-limbs weakness and urinary retention. Neurological examination found a complete paraplegia (0/5 stergh), with incomplete sensory deficit below the T-10 level, bowel and bladder dysfunction, decreased deep and superficial reflex. MRI with different sequences showed a large epidural mass lesion with slightly high signal intensity on T1-weighted images and heterogeneous low signal intensity on T2-weighted images from T11 to l1 suggesting an epidural hematoma. She underwent an urgent total laminectomy from T11 to l1 following by a complete removal of a large dark and compact epidural hematoma compressing the spinal cord. Operatively, there’s no sign suggesting an AVM. Postoperative course was uneventful and she was discharged ten days after surgery with complete recovery.

High Efficiency SiC Terahertz Source in Mixed Tunnelling Avalanche Transit Time Mode

High frequency properties of 4H-SiC double drift region (DDR) Mixed Tunnelling Avalanche Transit Time (MITATT) diodes are studied through computer simulation method. It is interesting to observe that the efficiency of SiC (flat) DDR MITATT diode (16%) is more than 4 times that of Si (flat) DDR MITATT diode (3.59%). In addition, a power output of more than 15 times from the SiC MITATT diode compared to the Si MITATT diode is commendable. A reduced noise measure of 17.71 dB from a low-high-low (lo-hi-lo) structure compared to that of 21.5 dB from a flat structure of SiC is indicative of the favourable effect of tunnelling current on the MITATT diode performance.

Effect of High Temperature Treatment on Aqueous Corrosion of low-Carbon Steel by electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy

The corrosion behavior of 1020C carbon steel samples that had been subjected to oxidizing heat treatment at 550°C and 675°C were studied in sodium chloride electrolytes using a 3-electrode electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Experimental data were used to evaluate the corrosion behavior of the samples while optical microscopy was employed to investigate the surface characteristics of the samples before and after aqueous corrosion. The results showed that while the sample treated at 550°C revealed an increasing corrosion rate with time, the sample treated at 675°C indicated a higher initial corrosion rate, but the rate declined gradually over the 4-day experimental period. Optical microscopy revealed significant formation of surface corrosion products on both heat treated samples, but the complex plane diagrams indicated significant capacitive behavior for the heat treated samples relative to the untreated samples.

Integrated Assessment of the Ecological Status of Bulgarian lowland and Semi-Mountain Natural lakes

This work focuses on an integrated approach for lake ecological status assessment, elaborated according to the requirements of the European Water Framework Directive (WFD). Data from five lowland and semi-mountain lakes in Bulgaria (Southeast Europe) collected from two years (2011-2012) form the basis for an integrated assessment and the definition of reference conditions. Several metrics were applied in combination, to classify lakes into five ecological status classes. Assemblages of aquatic organisms: phytoplankton, macrophytes and benthic macroinvertebrates, together with 11 supporting physico-chemical parameters were studied. The assessed unique conditions suggested that reference conditions of Bulgarian lakes have natural variability. This first baseline study illustrated specific cases within the lake types that should be assessed in details before providing standardized classification systems in compliance with the requirements of WFD.
