Reiterated homogenization of a laminate with imperfect contact:gain-enhancement of effective properties

A family of one-dimensional(1d) elliptic boundary-value problems with periodic and rapidly-oscillating piecewise-smooth coefficients is considered. The coefficients depend on the local or fast variables corresponding to two different structural scales. A finite number of imperfect contact conditions are analyzed at each of the scales. The reiterated homogenization method(RHM) is used to construct a formal asymptotic solution. The homogenized problem, the local problems, and the corresponding effective coefficients are obtained. A variational formulation is derived to obtain an estimate to prove the proximity between the solutions of the original problem and the homogenized problem. Numerical computations are used to illustrate both the convergence of the solutions and the gain of the effective properties of a three-scale heterogeneous 1d laminate with respect to their two-scale counterparts. The theoretical and practical ideas exposed here could be used to mathematically model multidimensional problems involving multiscale composite materials with imperfect contact at the interfaces.

The influence of dopant concentration on PZT (54/46) systems doped with lanthanum and/or niobium is studied. The sintering kinetics is presented for 1 wt% of the dopant used to find the main mechanism which drives this process. The results were compared with a phenomenological model for viscous sintering and solid state sintering. The exponent obtained for viscous sintering in PZTN, PlZT and PlZTN were 0.05, 0.01, and 0.23 respectively, which indicate that the process is reactive liquid in all cases. In the other hand, the exponent obtained for solid state sintering were 6.61, 5.68, and 1.23 respectively, and prevalence Ost-wald ripening and coalescence process together. Both dopants inhibit the grain growth and accelerate the sintering process, which increases with dopant concentration and the combination of both dopants. Shoro-hod-Olevsky model was applied for explain grain growth evolution, but does not coincide strictly with the applied model, which suggest that the process is very complex.

Although many causes of Alzheimer’s disease(Ad)may exist,both the original amyloid cascade and tau hypotheses posit that abnormal misfolding and accumulation of amyloid-β(Aβ)and tau protein is the central event causing the ***,that conclusion could be only partly true,and there is conflicting evidence about the role of both proteins in Ad,being able to precede and influence one *** researchers argue that these proteins are mere executors rather than primary causes of ***,there have been continuing refinements of both hypotheses,with alternative explanations proposed.Aβand tau proteins may be independently involved in specific neurotoxic pathways;yet there may be other crucial processes going on in early ***,accumulating evidence suggests that Aβand tau act synergistically,rather than additively in disease onset(Jeremic et al.,2021,2023a).

If 0 〈 a 〈 1, we define a X01-ax1a new vector measure [m0, m]a with values in the Calderdn lattice interpolation space and we analyze the space of integrable functions with respect to measure [m0, m1]a in order to prove suitable extensions of the classical Stein Weiss formulas that hold for the complex interpolation of lP-spaces. Since each p-convex order continuous Kothe function space with weak order unit can be represented as a space of p-integrable functions with respect to a vector measure, we provide in this way a technique to obtain representations of the corresponding complex interpolation spaces. As applications, we provide a Riesz-Thorin theorem for spaces of p-integrable functions with respect to vector measures and a formula for representing the interpolation of the injective tensor product of such spaces.
