Measurement of hepatic functional mass by means of ^(13)C-methacetin and ^(13)C-phenylalanine breath tests in chronic liver disease: Comparison with Child-Pugh score and serum bile acid levels

AIM: To evaluate and compare the clinical usefulness of 13C-phenylalanine and 13C-methacetin breath tests in quantitating functional hepatic mass in patients with chronic liver disease and to further compare these results with those of conventional tests, Child-Pugh score and serum bile acid ***: One hundred and forty patients (50 HCV-related chronic hepatitis, 90 liver cirrhosis patients) and 40 matched healthy controls were studied. Both breath test and routine liver test, serum levels of cholic and chenodeoxycholic acid conjugates were ***: Methacetin breath test, expressed as 60 min cumulative percent of oxidation, discriminated the hepatic functional capacity not only between controls and liver disease patients, but also between different categories of chronic liver disease patients. Methacetin breath test was correlated with liver function tests and serum bile ***, methacetin breath test, as well as serum bile acids, were highly predictive of Child-Pugh scores. The diagnostic power of phenylalanine breath test was always less than that of methacetin breath ***: Methacetin breath test represents a safe and accurate diagnostic tool in the evaluation of hepatic functional mass in chronic liver disease patients.

Maize is one of the most nutrient demanding staple crops. Tissue nutrient diagnosis of maize is currently conducted using critical nutrient concentration or dual ratio ranges, but such diagnoses are pathological as biased by data redundancy, sub-compositional incoherence and non-normal distribution. The use of orthogonal balances, a compositional data analysis technique, avoids such biases. Our objective was to develop foliar nutrient balance standards for maize. We collected 758 grain yields (15.5% moisture content) and foliar samples at silk stage in maize fields of southern Quebec, Canada, and analyzed ten nutrients in tissues (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, B, Cu, Zn, Mn, Fe). Nutrients were arranged into ad hoc balances and computed as isometric log ratios (ilr). An optimized binary classification performed by a customized receiver operating characteristic procedure showed that a critical Mahalanobis distance of 4.21 separated balanced from imbalanced specimens about yield cut-off of 11.83 Mg grain·ha-1 with test performance of 86%. Quebec maize balance standards differed from published standards computed from DRIS norms collected in other agroecosystems. The Redfield N/P ratio in maize leaves was found to be the least variable balance across regions of the world. The DRIS dual ratios and raw concentration values were found to be geometrically inadequate for conducting diagnosis. The unbiased nutrient balance diagnosis combined the critical Mahalanobis distance and a mobile representation of nutrient balances with ilr means of true negative (TN) specimens centered at fulcrums and back-transformed ilr values of TN specimens into raw concentrations loading the buckets below. Nutrients can be appreciated as relative shortage, adequacy or excess in the concentration domain following statistical analysis and diagnosis in the unbiased balance domain.

Whether the complex game system composed of a large number of artificial intelligence(AI)agents empowered with reinforcement learning can produce extremely favorable collective behaviors just through the way of agent self-exploration is a matter of practical *** this paper,we address this question by combining the typical theoretical model of resource allocation system,the minority game model,with reinforcement *** individual participating in the game is set to have a certain degree of intelligence based on reinforcement learning *** particular,we demonstrate that as AI agents gradually becomes familiar with the unknown environment and tries to provide optimal actions to maximize payoff,the whole system continues to approach the optimal state under certain parameter combinations,herding is effectively suppressed by an oscillating collective behavior which is a self-organizing pattern without any external *** interesting phenomenon is that a first-order phase transition is revealed based on some numerical results in our multi-agents system with reinforcement *** order to further understand the dynamic behavior of agent learning,we define and analyze the conversion path of belief mode,and find that the self-organizing condensation of belief modes appeared for the given trial and error rates in the AI ***,we provide a detection method for period-two oscillation collective pattern emergence based on the Kullback–leibler divergence and give the parameter position where the period-two appears.

The atomic level structures of fcc/bcc interfaces in an Fe-9Ni alloy have been examined by means of HREM. It has been found that the orientation of γ prime /α interface had great effects on its atomic structure. These interfaces with different orientations may be composed of only structural ledges, structural ledges with misfit dislocations, superledges with misfit dislocations or only misfit dislocations. A structural model of growth ledge was suggested. The terrace of growth ledge was composed of structural ledges or misfit dislocations. The atomic structure of the riser of growth ledge was the same as that of the side facet of γ prime lath, which is composed of superledges with misfit dislocations.

随着储能系统的不断发展及其在直流分布式系统中的广泛应用,充当储能与直流分布式系统能量交互接口,调节范围宽、运行效率高的双向直流变换器得到深入的研究。提出一种基于变频-移相混合控制的l-llC谐振双向直流变换器,具备宽泛的增益及功率范围,可实现输入侧开关管的零电压开通和输出侧整流管的零电流关断,运行效率高。对变频-移相控制下l-llC的运行状态及特性进行了精确的描述分析,从理论层面论证采用变频-移相混合控制的合理性并提出一种简单的变频-移相混合控制实现方法。样机实验结果验证了l-llC谐振双向直流变换器理论分析的正确性及其在运行效率和调节范围两方面性能的优越性。
