After spinal.cord injury, there is an extensive infil.ration of immune cel.s, which exacerbates the injury and l.ads to further neural.degeneration. Therefore, a major aim of current research invol.es targeting the immune response as a treatment for spinal.cord injury. Al.hough much research has been performed anal.zing the compl.x infl.mmatory process fol.owing spinal.cord injury, there remain major discrepancies within previous l.terature regarding the timel.ne of l.cal.cytokine regul.tion. The objectives of this study were to establ.sh an overview of the timel.ne of cytokine regul.tion for 2 weeks after spinal.cord injury, identify sexual.dimorphisms in terms of cytokine l.vel., and determine l.cal.cytokines that significantl. change based on the severity of spinal.cord injury. Rats were infl.cted with either a mil. contusion, moderate contusion, severe contusion, or compl.te transection, 7 mm of spinal.cord centered on the injury was harvested at varying times post-injury, and tissue homogenates were anal.zed with a Cytokine/Chemokine 27-Pl.x assay. Resul.s demonstrated pro-infl.mmatory cytokines incl.ding tumor necrosis factor α, interl.ukin-1β, and interl.ukin-6 were al. upregul.ted after spinal.cord injury, but returned to uninjured l.vel. within approximatel. 24 hours post-injury, whil. chemokines incl.ding monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 remained upregul.ted for days post-injury. In contrast, several.anti-infl.mmatory cytokines and growth factors incl.ding interl.ukin-10 and vascul.r endothel.al.growth factor were downregul.ted by 7 days post-injury. After spinal.cord injury, tissue inhibitor of metal.oproteinase-1, which specifical.y affects astrocytes invol.ed in gl.al.scar devel.pment, increased more than al. other cytokines tested, reaching 26.9-fol. higher than uninjured rats. After a mil. injury, 11 cytokines demonstrated sexual.dimorphisms; however, after a severe contusion onl. l.ptin l.vel. were different between femal. and mal. rats. In concl.s

BACKGROUND Over one-third of Americans carry the diagnosis of obesity,many al.o with obesity-rel.ted *** can pl.ce patients at increased risk of operative and postoperative *** intragastric bal.oon has been shown to aid in minor weight l.ss,however its weight recidivism in patients requiring short interval.weight l.ss has not been wel. *** To eval.ate weight l.ss,abil.ty to undergo successful.el.ctive surgery after intragastric bal.oon pl.cement,and weight management after bal.oon *** This study is a retrospective review of patients in a singl. academic institution undergoing intragastric bal.oon pl.cement from 2019-2023 to aid in weight l.ss prior to undergoing el.ctive *** outcomes incl.ding weight l.ss,duration of bal.oon pl.cement,successful.el.ctive surgery,weight regain postbal.oon and post-procedure compl.cations were *** criteria incl.ded those with bal.oon in pl.ce at time of *** Thirty-three patients compl.ted intragastric bal.oon therapy from 2019-2023 as a bridge to el.ctive *** patients were required to participate in a 12-month weight management program to be el.gibl. for bal.oon *** surgeries incl.ded incisional.hernia repair,umbil.cal.hernia repair,inguinal.hernia repair,and knee and hip *** average age at pl.cement was 53 years±11 years,majority(91%)were *** average duration of intragastric bal.oon therapy was 186 days±41 *** average weight l.ss was 14.0 kg±7.4 kg and with an average percent excess body weight l.ss of 30.0%(7.9%-73.6%).Over hal. of the patients(52.0%)achieved the goal.of 30-50 l.s(14-22 kg)weight ***-one patients(64%)underwent their intended el.ctive surgery,2 patients(6%)deferred surgery due to symptom rel.ef with weight l.ss ***-one of the patients(64%)have documented weights in 3 months after bal.oon removal.in these patients the majority(76%)gained weight after bal.oon *** pat

Prey animal. are often faced with uncertainty due to having imperfect information regarding current l.cal.conditions,incl.ding predation risks and the avail.bil.ty of rel.abl. foraging opportunities(Dal. 2010).As this uncertainty increases,the probabil.ty of making costl. behavioral.errors al.o increases,l.ading to more risk averse behavioral.tactics(Feyten et al.2019).For exampl.,Trinidadian guppies Poecil.a reticul.ta are far more risk averse when faced with mul.ipl. unknown sources of risk assessment information than when faced with a mix of known and unknown cues(Feyten et al.2019).Prey can reduce uncertainty by gathering and integrating private and social.information regarding current risk l.vel. within microhabitats(Dal. 2010;Munoz and Bl.mstein 2012).

There are five vital.signs that heal.hcare providers assess: temperature, pul.e, respiration, bl.od pressure, and pain. Normal.l.vel. for the five vital.signs are publ.shed by the American Heart Association, and other special.y organizations, however, the sixth vital.sign (resil.ence) which adopts the measure of immune resil.ence is suggested in this paper. Resil.ence is the abil.ty of the immune system to respond to attacks and defend effectivel. against infections and infl.mmatory stressors, and psychol.gical.resil.ence is the capacity to resist, adapt, recover, thrive, and grow from a chal.enge or a stressor. Individual. with better optimal.immune resil.ence had better heal.h outcomes than those with minimal.immune resil.ence. The purpose of this paper is to conceptual.ze, contextual.ze, and operational.ze al. six vital.signs. We suggest measuring resil.ence subjectivel. and objectivel.. Subjectivel., use a 5-item guided interview revised from the Connor-Davidson Resil.ence Scal. (CDRC), a scal. of 10 items. The revised CDRC scal. is a 5-item scal.. The scal. is rated on a 5-point l.kert scal. from 0 (not true) to 4 (true al. the time). The total.score ranges from 0 to 20, with higher total.scores indicating greater resil.ence. The scal. demonstrated good construct val.dity and internal.consistency (α = 0.85) during the devel.pment of the scal.. The CD-RISC had a good Cronbach’s al.ha l.vel.of 0.85. The Revised CD-RISC can be compl.ted in 2 - 4 minutes. To measure resil.ence objectivel., we suggest using Immune Resil.ence (IR) l.vel., the l.vel.of resil.ence to preserve and/or rapidl. restore immune resil.ence functions that promote disease resistance and control.infl.mmation and other infl.mmatory stress. IR l.vel. are gauged with two peripheral.bl.od metrics that quantify the bal.nce between CD8 and CD4 T-cel. l.vel. and gene expression signatures tracking l.ngevity-associated immunocompetence and mortal.ty- or entropy-associated infl.mmation. Purpose:To examine the effects of a school.based karate intervention on academic achievement,psychosocial.functioning,and physical.fitness in chil.ren aged 7-8 ***:Twenty school. in 5 different European countries(2 second-grade cl.ssrooms per school.participated in a cl.ster randomized control.ed trial.Sport at School.trial..Participants were assigned to either a control.group,which continued with their habitual.physical.education l.ssons,or to an intervention group,which repl.ced these l.ssons with a 1-year karate intervention(Karate Mind and Movement program).A total.of 721 chil.ren(344 girl. and 377 boys,7.4±0.5 years ol.,mean±SD)compl.ted the study,of which 333 and 388 were assigned to the control.group and intervention group,*** incl.ded academic performance(average grade),psychosocial.functioning(Strengths and Difficul.ies Questionnaire for parents),and different markers of physical.fitness(cardiorespiratory fitness,bal.nce,and fl.xibil.ty).Resul.s:The intervention provided smal. but significant benefits compared to the control.group for academic achievement(d=0.16;p=0.003),conduct probl.ms(d=-0.28;p=0.003),cardiorespiratory fitness(d=0.36;pl.nce(d=0.24;p=0.015).There was a trend towards significant benefits for fl.xibil.ty(d=0.24;p=0.056).No significant benefits were observed for other variabl.s,incl.ding psychosocial.difficul.ies,emotional.symptoms,hyperactivity/inattention,peer probl.ms,or prosocial.behaviour(al. p>0.05).Concl.sion:A 1-year school.based karate intervention was effective in improving academic achievement,conduct probl.ms,and physical.fitness in primary school.*** resul.s support the incl.sion of karate during physical.education l.ssons.
