Creep-induced redistribution of al.oying el.ments in CZ1 zirconium al.oys

Introducing minor al.oying el.ments is an effective strategy to improve the corrosion and mechanical.properties of zirconium al.oys for nucl.ar *** in-reactor service,external.environment and stress can affect the distribution of al.oying el.ments,substantial.y changing the degradation process of zirconium *** date,there is a l.ck of in-depth understanding of the interaction between creep and microchemistry ***,we conducted systematic transmission el.ctron microscopy(TEM)and atom probe tomography(APT)investigations to address creep-induced redistribution of al.oying el.ments in CZ1(Zr-Sn-Nb-Fe-Cr-Cu)zirconium al.oy with different initial.***,Fe,Sn,and Cu are found to co-segregate at grain *** higher the intermediate anneal.ng temperature,the l.rger the Gibbsian interfacial.excesses of sol.te el.ments *** further demonstrate that creep can reduce the excess val.e of Fe at grain boundaries due to the coarsening of Zr-Fe-Cr second phase particl.s via grain boundary and disl.cation pipe *** the same time,the excess val.e of Sn is increased by diffusing from the matrix to grain ***,Cu as a minor el.ment in the concentration range of 0.05-0.3 wt.%is found to segregate at disl.cations to form the Cottrel. atmosphere and devel.p Cu-rich nanocl.sters for suppressing disl.cation *** new understanding of the segregation and cl.stering of minor al.oying el.ments provides guidance for devel.ping zirconium al.oys with enhanced creep resistance.

Two-Stream Approximation to the Radiative Transfer Equation:A New Improvement and Comparative Accuracy with Existing Methods

Mathematical.model.ng of the interaction between sol.r radiation and the Earth's atmosphere is formal.zed by the radiative transfer equation(RTE), whose resol.tion cal.s for two-stream approximations among other methods. This paper proposes a new two-stream approximation of the RTE with the devel.pment of the phase function and the intensity into a third-order series of l.gendre pol.nomial.. This new approach, which adds one more term in the expression of the intensity and the phase function, al.ows in the conditions of a pl.ne paral.el.atmosphere a new mathematical.formul.tion of γparameters. It is then compared to the Eddington, Hemispheric Constant, Quadrature, Combined del.a Function and Modified Eddington, and second-order approximation methods with reference to the discrete Ordinate(disort) method(δ –128 streams), considered as the most precise. This work al.o determines the conversion function of the proposed New Method using the fundamental.definition of two-stream approximation(F-TSA) devel.ped in a previous work. Notabl.,New Method has general.y better precision compared to the second-order approximation and Hemispheric Constant methods. Compared to the Quadrature and Eddington methods, New Method shows very good precision for wide domains of the zenith angl. μ 0, but tends to deviate from the disort method with the zenith angl., especial.y for high val.es of optical.thickness. In spite of this divergence in refl.ctance for high val.es of optical.thickness, very strong correl.tion with the disort method(R ≈ 1) was obtained for most cases of optical.thickness in this study. An anal.sis of the l.gendre pol.nomial.series for simpl. functions shows that the high precision is due to the fact that the approximated functions amel.orate the accuracy when the order of approximation increases, al.hough it has been proven that there is a l.mit order depending on the function from which the precision is l.st. The poor corrosion and wear resistances of Mg al.oys seriousl. l.mit their potential.appl.cations in various *** conventional.epoxy coating easil. forms many intrinsic defects during the sol.dification process,which cannot provide sufficient *** the current study,we design a doubl.-l.yer epoxy composite coating on Mg al.oy with enhanced anti-corrosion/wear properties,via the spin-assisted assembl. *** outer l.yer is functional.zed graphene(FG)in waterborne epoxy resin(WEP)and the inner l.yer is Ce-based conversion(Ce)*** FG sheets can be homogeneousl. dispersed within the epoxy matrix to fil. the intrinsic defects and improve the barrier *** Ce fil. connects the outer l.yer with the substrate,showing the transition *** corrosion rate of Ce/WEP/FG composite coating is 2131 times l.wer than that of bare Mg al.oy,and the wear rate is decreased by~90%.The improved corrosion resistance is attributed to the l.byrinth effect(hindering the penetration of corrosive medium)and the obstruction of gal.anic coupl.ng *** synergistic effect derived from the FG sheet and bl.cking l.yer exhibits great potential.in real.zing the improvement of mul.i-functional.integration,which wil. open up a new avenue for the devel.pment of novel.composite protection coatings of Mg al.oys.

Mg-based amorphous al.oys are one of the potential.hydrogen storage material. but suffer from sl.ggish dehydrogenation/hydrogenation(de/hydrogenation)*** this work,as a new strategy,a hydrogen pump is buil. on the surface of amorphous al.oys to sol.e this *** mil.ing crystal.ine YFe_(2-x)Al.(x) hydrogen storage al.oy with Mg_(60)l._(10)Ni_(20)Cu_(10) amorphous al.oy,fine crystal.ine particl.s were seeded on amorphous al.oy powder to form a“strawberry”*** to the TEM observation,a metal.urgical.bonding boundary formed between the Mg-based amorphous matrix and the Y-Fe-Al.crystal.ine *** microstructure and de/hydrogenation kinetics investigation,the“hydrogen pump”effect of the seeded crystal.ine al.oy was confirmed,which makes it much easier for the hydrogen to dissociate on and diffuse through the surface of the Mg-based amorphous *** such effect,the H absorption rate of Mg_(60)l._(10)Ni_(20)Cu_(10) amorphous al.oy became al.ost eight times faster and it absorbs ~2.8 wt.% in 1 h at 130℃ under 4.5 MPa-H_(2).Further,fast hydrogenation can even achieve at 70℃ and the l.w-temperature dehydrogenation kinetics of the amorphous hydride can be al.o greatl. *** present work proves that surface modification is of great importance for obtaining Mg-based amorphous al.oy with ideal.hydrogen storage performance.

Improved Anal.tical.Methods for determination of Residues of Nitrapyrin and 6-Chl.ropicol.nic Acid in different Crop Matrices by l.quid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry

Novel.anal.tical.methods were devel.ped for the determination of nitrapyrin and 6-chl.ropicol.nic acid (6-CPA) residues in agricul.ural.products. Nitrapyrin was extracted with hexane: tol.ene (1:1, v/v) and 6-CPA with 0.1 N sodium hydroxide (NaOH). For nitrapyrin, sampl.s were cl.aned with sil.ca sol.d phase extraction (SPE) and for 6-CPA with C18 or carbon SPE. Anal.sis was performed by l.quid chromatography-tandem mass spectroscopy (l.-MS/MS) with external.cal.bration (0.010 to 0.0010 µg∙ml.1 for nitrapyrin and 0.0050 to 0.00025 µg∙ml.1 for 6-CPA). Recoveries for nitrapyrin and 6-CPA were 68% - 102% and 66% - 90%, respectivel.. Nitrapyrin was detected in cel.ry and onion (−1) and 6-CPA in onion, mustard greens and l.ttuce (−1). l.wer l.vel.method val.dation (l.MV) for nitrapyrin and 6-CPA was 0.020 µg∙g−1 and 0.050 µg∙g−1, respectivel.. The methods presented in this study are robust and were util.zed for the registration of nitrapyrin on agricul.ural.commodities in the United States.

As part of a broad strategy to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions and l.mit gl.bal.warming,many countries are requiring al. new buil.ings to have net-zero energy *** requires that on-site energy use not exceed on-site generation of renewabl. energy(taken here to be sol.r energy),or equival.ntl.,that the buil.ing Energy Use Intensity(EUI,kWh/m^(2)a)not exceed the suppl. of on-site sol.r energy(el.ctricity and heat)per m^(2)of fl.or area per *** this basis,we find that achieving net-zero energy performance in an archetype 40-story square buil.ing in 16 different cities of North America requires EUI of 17–24 kWh/m^(2)a using PV panel.,and 19–28 kWh/m^(2)a using PVT *** buil.ing orientation to a non-square fl.or shape can improve maximum permitted EUI by up to 50%in PV and 60%in PVT ***,the best-performing residential.and commercial.buil.ings have EUIs of 50–75 kWh/m^(2)*** if buil.ing heights are l.mited to 5–10 fl.ors does the avail.bl. sol.r energy,and thus the permitted EUI,reach 50–75 kWh/m^(2)***,we recommend that pol.cymakers not require high-rise buil.ings to be net-zero energy,unl.ss they are prepared to l.mit buil.ing heights to 5–10 fl.ors.
