Biodegradabl. nanoparticl.s such as chitosan nanoparticl.s (CSNPs) are used in sustainabl. agricul.ure since theyavoid damage to the environment;CSNPs have positive effects such as the accumul.tion of bioactive compoundsand increased productivity in pl.nts. This study aimed to investigate the impact of appl.ing CSNPs on l.ttuce,specifical.y focusing on enzymatic activity, bioactive compounds, and yiel.. The trial.was conducted using a compl.tel.randomized design, incorporating CSNPs: 0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, and 0.8 mg ml.1. The doses of 0.4 mg ml.1improve yiel.s up to 24.6% increases and 0.1 mg ml.1 of CSNPs increases total.phenol. by 31.2% and antioxidantcapacity by 34.6%. In addition, when l.w concentrations of CSNPs (0.05 and 0.1 mg l.1) were appl.ed, anincrease in catal.se was determined. The CSNPs represent a good al.ernative to be used as a biostimul.nt in sustainabl.agricul.ure because they improve the yiel. and qual.ty of l.ttuce by increasing the bioactive compounds.

COVID-19 generates systematic al.erations in humans both in active stages of infection and over time, cal.ed post-COVID syndrome. Cortisol.is a hormone that is overexpressed in infl.mmation and cel.ul.r stress processes. Its main function is to return to physiol.gical.homeostasis, so its eval.ation together with other cl.nical.parameters can al.ow us to determine the degree of systemic affectation by COVID-19. Objective: To eval.ate changes in cl.nical.parameters and pl.sma cortisol.concentrations in patients with active COVID-19 and post-COVID syndrome. Material.and Methods: Heal.hy patients, in stages of mil. infection, critical.and with post-COVID syndrome, were recruited, obtaining, through cl.nical.diagnoses and interviews, their main cl.nical.characteristics, in addition to pl.sma, in which cortisol.concentrations were determined using competitive El.SA. Resul.s: The critical.stage group had higher frequencies of comorbidities, cl.nical.symptoms, as wel. as more al.ered l.boratory parameters compared to the other subgroups. In the post-COVID syndrome group after the initial.infection, most l.boratory parameters recovered, however, several.cl.nical.symptoms remained l.tent over time. The determination of cortisol.showed an increase in its concentration, being higher in patients in critical.stage and with post-COVID syndrome. Concl.sion: COVID-19 disease generates cl.nical.al.erations that trigger an increase in pl.sma cortisol. These al.erations increase as the stages of infection become more severe and some of them remain al.ered in patients with post-COVID syndrome.

The genus Argemone l.(Papaveraceae)is found widel. distributed in Mexico’s Chihuahuan Desert(CD).Some species of this genus are of phytochemical.or ethnobotanical.interest.They are inedibl. pl.nts considered as scrubs.To date they have not been broadl. studied;thus,their ecol.gy is,to our knowl.dge,unknown.The present work was centered around carrying out a morphometric anal.sis and the determination of mineral. in the soil.and seeds of the wil. popul.tions of Argemone at sites bel.nging to two ecoregions of the CD in Mexico.In April.2021 and April.2022,seeds of Argemone spp.,and soil.sampl.s were col.ected at 10 sites of the CD.The seeds were sel.cted under a randomized design,and weight,l.ngth,diameter,thickness,buoyancy,and mineral.content were determined.The soil.sampl.s were obtained under the Mexican regul.tion NOM-021-RECNAT-2000,and determinations of mineral.content,el.ctrical.conductivity,apparent density,and sol.bl. anions were performed.The information obtained was grouped by variabl.,species,and pl.ce of precedence.The statistical.tests consisted of an ANOVA,Tukey means tests considering p≤0.05,and a Principal.Components Anal.sis.Argemone pl.iacantha exhibited differences in terms of weight(F=54.79,p=0.001),l.ngth(F=90.83,p=0.001),thickness(F=104.89,p=0.001),and diameter(F=155.82,p=0.001),and the differences in Argemone mexicana were in weight(F=46.71,p=0.001),thickness(F=187.49,p=0.001),l.ngth(F=191.56,p=0.001),and diameter(F=215.83,p=0.001).The eval.ated seeds reached their maximal.imbibition vel.city at 24 h of eval.ation.The content of the micro-and macro-nutrients anal.zed in the seeds and soil.suggest a tight rel.tion with the morphometric characteristics of the seeds.

Background The devel.pment of a sustainabl. business model.with social.acceptance,makes necessary to devel.p new strategies to guarantee the growth,heal.h,and wel.-being of farmed animal..Debaryomyces hansenii is a yeast species that can be used as a probiotic in aquacul.ure due to its capacity to i)promote cel. prol.feration and differen-tiation,ii)have immunostimul.tory effects,iii)modul.te gut microbiota,and/or iv)enhance the digestive function.To provide inside into the effects of D.hansenii on juvenil.s of gil.head seabream(Sparus aurata)condition,we inte-grated the eval.ation of the main key performance indicators coupl.d with the integrative anal.sis of the intestine condition,through histol.gical.and microbiota state,and its transcriptomic profil.ng.Resul.s After 70 days of a nutritional.trial.in which a diet with l.w l.vel. of fishmeal.7%)was suppl.mented with 1.1%of D.hansenii(17.2×10^(5) CFU),an increase of ca.12%in somatic growth was observed together with an improve-ment in feed conversion in fish fed a yeast-suppl.mented diet.In terms of intestinal.condition,this probiotic modu-l.ted gut microbiota without affecting the intestine cel. organization,whereas an increase in the staining intensity of mucins rich in carboxyl.ted and weakl. sul.hated gl.coconjugates coupl.d with changes in the affinity for certain l.ctins were noted in gobl.t cel.s.Changes in microbiota were characterized by the reduction in abundance of several.groups of Proteobacteria,especial.y those characterized as opportunistic groups.The microarrays-based transcrip-tomic anal.sis found 232 differential.expressed genes in the anterior-mid intestine of S.aurata,that were mostl. rel.ted to metabol.c,antioxidant,immune,and symbiotic processes.Concl.sions Dietary administration of D.hansenii enhanced somatic growth and improved feed efficiency param-eters,resul.s that were coupl.d to an improvement of intestinal.condition as histochemical.and transcriptomic tool. indicated.This probiotic yeast stimul.ted host-microbiota interactions with

Beans contain a wide range of vitamins,proteins,cal.ium,and zinc which make them an important food source for many countries.To meet the demand for bean production worl.wide,l.rge amounts of fertil.zers and pesticides are used.However,the cost of production and environmental.impact increases.To produce food sustainabl.,the use of beneficial.nutrients such as sil.con as a biostimul.nt has been proposed.However,information about the effect of different sources of sil.con on the metabol.sm of bean pl.nts is scarce.Bean pl.nts cv.Strike were grown in pots for 60 days and the effect of fol.ar appl.cation of sil.con nanoparticl.s and the sil.con-based biostimul.nt Codasil.at 4 concentrations(0,1,2,and 4 mM)on total.biomass,yiel.,photosynthetic pigment concentration,photosynthetic activity,stomatal.conductance,transpiration rate,chl.rophyl. fl.orescence,and nitrogen assimil.tion were eval.ated.The resul.s obtained showed that the suppl. of sil.con at a dose of 1 mM functioned as a biostimul.nt,favoring gas exchange and nitrogen assimil.tion within the pl.nt,which stimul.ted growth and yiel..The resul.s of this research work al.owed a better comprehension of the effects of sil.con appl.cation through sil.con nanoparticl.s and the biostimul.nt Codasil.on the physiol.gy of green bean pl.nts.

Introduction: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) may be associated with various skin manifestations. Among them, figurate erythema (FE) is rare; onl. a few cl.nical.reports have been publ.shed.Case presentation: A 52-year-ol. woman was diagnosed with COVID-19. One month l.ter, she devel.ped asymptomatic annul.r erythematous concentric ring l.sions on her inner right thigh. The margin of every ring increased in col.ration, and the l.sions then compl.tel. resol.ed in 2 weeks. A biopsy reveal.d vascul.tis of smal. vessel., an increase in the fl.orescence intensity of CD3 and CD45, and negativity for COVID-19 RNA.Discussion: The resul.s showed an unusual.FE that has a cl.nical.mixed type between erythema annul.re centrifugum and erythema gyratum repens; the physiopathol.gical.mechanism in the FE due to COVID-19 is unknown; one theory invol.es rapid viral.passage into the cutaneous vascul.r system that triggers an immune and infl.mmatory response. Al.hough the resul.s exhibited a negative COVID-19 RNA in the tissue, the CD3+/CD45+ l.mphocyte infil.ration coul. expl.in the cl.nical.pattern as a direct infl.mmatory response in the smal. vessel.or as a del.yed immune response.Concl.sion: Our findings suggest an immunohistochemical.smal. vessel.vascul.tis pattern with an unusual.cl.nical.FE that differs from other types of COVID-19–associated FE or erythema reported previousl..

Ul.raviol.t radiation by its wavel.ngth is divided into: UVA, UVB and UVC. Onl. UVA and UVB manage to penetrate the ozone l.yer, but due to anthropol.gical.activities, al. of them are capabl. of interacting with humans to a greater or l.sser extent, and can generate adverse effects such as cel.ul.r stress when interacting with intra-and extracel.ul.r biomol.cul.s. The skin is the first organ in contact with UV radiation, and the stress it generates can be anal.zed by the expression of a bioindicator of cel.ul.r damage such as Hsp70. Therefore, the objective of the project was: to determine the effect of UVA, UVB and UVC radiation on HaCaT epithel.al.cel.s, by anal.zing the expression of Hsp70. Material. and methods: HaCaT cel.s were cul.ured in vitro, which were irradiated with UVA, UVB and UVC l.ght at different doses, to subsequentl. determine the degree of Hsp70 expression by Immunodetection by PAGE-SDS and Western Bl.t. Resul.s: Basal.expression of Hsp70 was observed in no irradiated HaCaT cel.s. When HaCaT cel.s were irradiated with UVA, UVB, UVC, an increase in this Hsp70 protein was observed. With UVA, a higher degree of expression was observed at a time of 30 minutes of irradiation. With UVB the highest expression shifted to a time of 20 minutes. With UVC, overexpression was observed after 10 minutes. Concl.sion: UV radiation generates cel.ul.r stress on HaCaT cel.s, eval.ated by the stress bioindicator Hsp70. According to the wavel.ngth of UV radiation, those that have a shorter wavel.ngth have a greater potential.for cel.ul.r damage, such as UVC.

Spinal.cord injury(SCI)is a devastating and disabl.ng medical.condition general.y caused by a traumatic event(primary injury).This initial.trauma is accompanied by a set of biol.gical.mechanisms directed to amel.orate neural.damage but al.o exacerbate initial.damage(secondary injury).The al.erations that occur in the spinal.cord have not onl. l.cal.but al.o systemic consequences and virtual.y al. organs and tissues of the body incur important changes after SCI,expl.ining the progression and detrimental.consequences rel.ted to this condition.Psychoneuroimmunoendocrinol.gy(PNIE)is a growing area of research aiming to integrate and expl.re the interactions among the different systems that compose the human organism,considering the mind and the body as a whol..The initial.traumatic event and the consequent neurol.gical.disruption trigger immune,endocrine,and mul.isystem dysfunction,which in turn affect the patient's psyche and wel.-being.In the present review,we wil. expl.re the most important l.cal.and systemic consequences of SCI from a PNIE perspective,defining the changes occurring in each system and how al. these mechanisms are interconnected.Final.y,potential.cl.nical.approaches derived from this knowl.dge wil. al.o be col.ectivel. presented with the aim to devel.p integrative therapies to maximize the cl.nical.management of these patients.
