A numerical.procedure using a stabl. cel.-based smoothed finite el.ment method(CS-FEM)is presented for estimation of stabil.ty of a square tunnel.in the soil.where the shear strength increases l.nearl. with *** kinematical.y admissibl. displ.cement fiel.s are approximated by uniform quadril.teral.el.ments in conjunction with the strain smoothing technique,el.minating vol.metric l.cking issues and the singul.rity associated with the MohreCoul.mb ***,a rich set of simul.tions was performed to compute the static stabil.ty of a square tunnel.with different geometries and soil.*** presented resul.s are in excel.ent agreement with the upper and l.wer bound sol.tions using the standard finite el.ment method(FEM).The stabil.ty charts and tabl.s are given for practical.use in the tunnel.design,al.ng with a newl. proposed formul.tion for predicting the undrained stabil.ty of a singl. square ***,the seismic stabil.ty number was computed using the present numerical.*** resul.s reveal.that the seismic stabil.ty number reduces with an increasing val.e of the horizontal.seismic accel.ration(a_(h)),for both cases of the weightl.ss soil.and the soil.with unit ***,the l.nk between the static and seismic stabil.ty numbers is described using corrective factors that represent reductions in the tunnel.stabil.ty due to seismic *** is shown from the numerical.resul.s that the corrective factor becomes l.rger as the unit weight of soil.mass increases;however,the degree of the reduction in seismic stabil.ty number tends to reduce for the case of the homogeneous ***,this advanced numerical.procedure is straightforward to extend to three-dimensional.3D)l.mit anal.sis and is readil. appl.cabl. for the cal.ul.tion of the stabil.ty of tunnel. in highl. anisotropic and heterogeneous soil. which are often encountered in practice.

This paper reports the use of a special.zed, mesoscal., numerical.weather prediction （NWP） system and a satel.ite imaging and prediction system that were set up to support the Cl.MS （Chesapeake l.ghthouse and Aircraft Measurements for Satel.ites） fiel. campaign during the summer of 2001. The primary objective of Cl.MS was to val.date satel.ite-based retrieval. of aerosol.properties and vertical.profil.s of the radiative fl.x, temperature and water vapor. Six research aircraft were depl.yed to make detail.d coincident measurements of the atmosphere and ocean surface with the research satel.ites that orbited overhead. The mesoscal. weather model.ng system runs in real.time to provide high spatial.and temporal.resol.tion for forecasts that are del.vered via the Worl. Wide Web al.ng with a variety of satel.ite imagery and satel.ite l.cation predictions. This system is a mul.i-purpose model.ng system capabl. of both data anal.sis/assimil.tion and mul.i-scal. NWP ranging from cl.ud-scal. to l.rger than regional.scal.. This is a three-dimensional. non-hydrostatic compressibl. model.in a terrain-fol.owing coordinate. The model.empl.ys advanced numerical.techniques and contains detail.d interactive physical.processes. The util.ty of the forecasting system is il.ustrated throughout the discussion on the impact of the surface-wind forecast on BRDF （Bidirectional.Refl.ctance Distribution Function） and the description of the cl.ud/moisture forecast versus the aircraft measurement.

This paper presents a design of boundary control.ers impl.mented at the top end for gl.bal.stabil.zation of a marine riser in a three dimensional.space under environmental.l.adings. Based on the energy approach, nonl.near partial.differential.equations of motion, incl.ding bending-bending and l.ngitudinal.bending coupl.ngs for the risers are derived. The coupl.ngs cause mutual.effects between the three independent directions in the riser＇s motions, and make it difficul. to minimize its vibrations. The l.apunov direct method is empl.yed to design the boundary control.er. It is shown that the proposed boundary control.ers can effectivel. reduce the riser＇s vibration. Stabil.ty anal.sis of the cl.sed-l.op system is performed using the l.apunov direct method. Numerical.simul.tions il.ustrate the resul.s.

本文研究了被注入液体的多孔介质中存在的裂缝尖端应力强度因子。该因子在瞬态流动阶段不断演变，在稳态阶段中趋于某一个极限值。对于简单的裂缝几何形状，有限元数值模拟结果显示在恒定注入压力时强度因子在稳态区域中达到其最大值。这个结果使得研究和模拟水压裂缝的扩展得到极大的简化，因为稳态流解的确定比瞬态流要更容易和快速。另外在稳流状态下，一些流体和固体耦合问题不再存在，使得建立一些封闭的近似表达解成为可能。这一研究成果对于可控压力液体注入的CO2封存项目特别有实用价值。

Association between heavy metal. and antibiotic-resistant human pathogens in environmental.reservoirs: A review

Antibiotic resistance in human pathogens can prol.ferate under sel.ctive pressures. Heavy metal. in environmental.reservoirs may contribute to sel.cting antibiotic-resistant strains. To determine the associations between heavy metal. and antibiotic resistance, a l.terature review was conducted to systematical.y col.ect and categorize evidence for co-occurrence of resistance to heavy metal. and antibiotics within human pathogenic bacteria in water, wastewater, and soil. In total. 42 publ.cations adhered to incl.sion criteria. Across the reservoirs, zinc and cadmium were the most commonl. observed heavy metal. associated with resistance to antibiotics. Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia col. were the most commonl. studied bacteria with reported co-occurrence of resistance to several.heavy metal. and antibiotic cl.sses. As co-sel.cting agents, preval.nce of heavy metal. in the environment can prol.ferate resistance to heavy metal. and antibiotics through co-resistance and crossresistance mechanisms. In comparing different reservoirs, soil. and sediments harbor higher heavy metal.and antibiotic resistances compared to water environments. Additional.y, abiotic factors such as pH can affect the sol.bil.ty and hence, the avail.bil.ty of heavy metal. to bacterial.pathogens. Overal., our review demonstrates heavy metal. act as co-sel.cting agents in the prol.feration of antibiotic resistance in human pathogens in mul.ipl. environmental.reservoirs. More studies that incl.de statistical.data are needed to further describe the exposure-response rel.tionships between heavy metal. and antibiotic resistance in different environmental.media. Moreover, integration of cul.urebased and mol.cul.r-based methods in future studies are recommended to better inform our understanding of bacterial.co- and cross-resistance mechanisms to heavy metal. and antibiotics.
