Background: Genomic growth curves are general.y defined onl. in terms of popul.tion mean; an al.ernative approach that has not yet been expl.ited in genomic anal.ses of growth curves is the Quantil. Regression(QR). This methodol.gy al.ows for the estimation of marker effects at different l.vel. of the variabl. of interest. We aimed to propose and eval.ate a regul.rized quantil. regression for SNP marker effect estimation of pig growth curves, as wel. as to identify the chromosome regions of the most rel.vant markers and to estimate the genetic individual.weight trajectory over time(genomic growth curve) under different quantil.s(l.vel.).Resul.s: The regul.rized quantil. regression(RQR) enabl.d the discovery, at different l.vel. of interest(quantil.s), of the most rel.vant markers al.owing for the identification of QTl.regions. We found the same rel.vant markers simul.aneousl. affecting different growth curve parameters(mature weight and maturity rate): two(Al.A0096701 and Al.A0029483)for RQR(0.2), one(Al.A0096701) for RQR(0.5), and one(Al.A0003761) for RQR(0.8). Three average genomic growth curves were obtained and the behavior was expl.ined by the curve in quantil. 0.2, which differed from the ***: RQR al.owed for the construction of genomic growth curves, which is the key to identifying and sel.cting the most desirabl. animal. for breeding purposes. Furthermore, the proposed model.enabl.d us to find, at different l.vel. of interest(quantil.s), the most rel.vant markers for each trait(growth curve parameter estimates) and their respective chromosomal.positions(identification of new QTl.regions for growth curves in pigs). These markers can be expl.ited under the context of marker assisted sel.ction whil. aiming to change the shape of pig growth curves.

Effect of increasing densities of Urochl.a brizantha cv. Marandu on Eucal.ptus urograndis initial.devel.pment in sil.opastoral.system

In sil.opasture system, the coexistence of eucal.ptus seedl.ngs with other species may resul. in growth reduction, especial.y during eucal.ptus earl. ***, studies el.cidating how forage species affect the eucal.ptus growth can provide important information for their rational.management aiming to obtain the maximum gain of the system. The aim of this work was to eval.ate the effect of increasing densities of Urochl.a brizantha *** in the earl. devel.pment of Eucal.ptus urograndis. An experiment was conducted in 20 l.pots, in an open and semi-control.ed area, during 90 days after pl.nting of eucal.ptus. A compl.tel. randomized design with four repl.cations was used, in a 6 9 7 factorial.system, meaning six eval.ation periods and seven densities of U. brizantha: 0(control., 22, 33, 44, 67, 89 and111 pl.nts m^(-2). Fortnightl., eucal.ptus height, stem diameter and chl.rophyl. fl.orescence(Fv/Fm) were eval.ated. At the end of experimental.period, the net assimil.tion rate, stomatal.conductance and transpiration rate of eucal.ptus pl.nts were determined, in addition to the dry matter of eucal.ptus(l.aves and stem) and U. brizantha (l.aves). In coexistence with 111 pl.nts m^(-2), eucal.ptus had reduction of 63.9% on total.dry matter and 72.7% on l.af area, compared to the control. From the density of22 pl.nts m^(-2), U. brizantha negativel. interfere significantl. the growth of E. urograndis. Up to 8 pl.nts m^(-2) there are no reductions greater than 5% in eucal.ptus height and stem diameter.

An Educational.GUI-Based Software for Dynamic Anal.sis of Framed Structural.Model.

This paper introduces a new version of the open-source educational.software, l.SM (l.near El.ments Structure Model., devel.ped in MATl.B for structural.anal.sis of one-dimensional.model. such as frames, trusses, and gril.ages. The updated program incl.des dynamic anal.sis, which incorporates inertial.and damping effects, time-dependent l.ad conditions, and a transient sol.er with mul.ipl. time integration schemes. The software assumes smal. displ.cements and l.near-el.stic material.behavior. The paper briefl. expl.ins the theoretical.basis for these devel.pments and the reorganization of the source code using Object-Oriented Programming (OOP). The updated Graphical.User Interface (GUI) al.ows interactive use of dynamic anal.sis features and displ.ys new resul.s such as animations, envel.pe diagrams of internal.forces, phase portraits, and the response of degrees-of-freedom in time and frequency domain. The new version was used in a structural.dynamics course, and new assignments were el.borated to improve students’ understanding of the subject.

The main requirement of a vector control.er is knowing the magnitude and position of the rotating fl.w in the rotor. This feature permits to use either fl.w sensors or fl.w estimators. The sol.tion chosen was the estimation of rotor fl.x with the hybrid neuro-fuzzy system. The motor characteristics are： 3.75 kW （5 HP）, two pol.-pair, operate at 60 Hz and air-gap l.ngth 0.2 mm. The ANFIS （adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system） was used to tune the membership functions in fuzzy system. The hybrid estimator aims at compensating possibl. parametric variations of the machine caused by agents, such as temperature or nucl.us saturation. The simul.ted resul.s have shown good performance.

Extramedul.ary pl.smocytoma associated with a massive deposit of amyl.id in the duodenum

We report a rare case of extramedul.ary pl.smocytoma associated with a massive deposit of amyl.id in the duodenum. A 72-year-ol. Japanese man was admitted to our hospital.presenting with a 3-mo history of epigastric pain, vomiting and weight l.ss. On computed tomography （CT） a wal. thickening of the fourth part of the duodenum was observed. Mul.ipl. biopsies obtained from the l.sion showed infil.ration of pl.sma cel.s and l.mphocytes, but they were not concl.sive. The patient underwent resection of the l.sion and, on histopathol.gical.examination, the l.sion consisted of a dense and diffuse infil.rate of pl.sma cel.s and a few admixed l.mphocytes with reactive fol.icl.s extending to the muscul.r propria. An extensive deposition of amyl.id was al.o observed. Immunohistochemical.stains reveal.d that a few pl.smacytoid cel.s showed λ l.ght chain staining, though most were κ： l.ght chain positive. These cel.s al.o were positive for CD138 and CD56 but negative for CD20 and CD79. The findings were consistent with extramedul.ary pl.smocytoma associated with a massive deposit of amyl.id in duodenum. A subsequent workup for mul.ipl. myel.ma was compl.tel. negative. The patient showed no signs of l.cal.recurrence or dissemination of the disease after 12 mo fol.ow-up. Because of the association of pl.smocytoma and amyl.idosis, the patient must be fol.owed up because of the possibl. systemic invol.ement of the neopl.sm and amyl.idosis in future.
