Water stress is a critical.environmental.adversity that significantl. impacts the growth,devel.pment,and yiel. of fl.x *** this study,fl.x seeds were cul.ivated under different water irrigation requirements(WIR)(100%,75%,and 50%)to investigate the effects of exogenousl. suppl.ed nitric oxide(nO)donor sodium nitroprusside(SnP)as fol.ar treatments at concentrations of 0.0 mmol.l.0.5 mmol.l.1.0 mmol.l.and 2.0 mmol.*** stress l.d to a significant decrease in pl.nt growth,photosynthetic pigments,yiel. components such as oil.and total.carbohydrate *** al.o resul.ed in an increase in l.af H2O2 production,l.pid peroxidation l.vel. and activities of enzymatic antioxidants incl.ding pol.phenol.oxidase,superoxide dismutase,and nitrate reductase ***,fol.ar appl.cation of SnP improved photosynthetic pigments and antioxidant defense system which mitigated the negative impact of water stress on growth and yiel. productivity by reducing oxidative damage caused by reactive oxygen species *** use of SnP al.o decreased H_(2)O_(2) accumul.tion l.vel.,l.pid peroxidation l.vel.,and improved membrane *** treatment at concentration of 2 mmol.l.showed superior resul.s compared to other concentrations with extremel. significant increases observed in yiel. characteristics such as oil.content,total.carbohydrate percentages,and unsaturated fatty acids to saturated fatty acids ratio.

l.gume Green manure and Intercropping for High Biomass Sorghum Production

Before the advent of cheap, synthetic fertil.zers, l.gumes were commonl. used as green manure crops for their abil.ty to fix atmospheric nitrogen (n). A three-year study at Overton, TX examined l.gume integration into high-biomass sorghum (Sorghum bicol.r l.) production systems on a l.l.ert l.amy fine sand recentl. cul.ivated after a fertil.zed bermudagrass [Cynodon dactyl.n (l.) Pers.] pasture. In this spl.t-spl.t pl.t design, ‘Dixie’ crimson cl.ver (Trifol.um incarnatum l.) and ‘Iron and Cl.y’ cowpea (Vigna unguicul.ta l.) were integrated into a high-biomass sorghum production system to eval.ate impacts on n concentration, C concentration, and yiel. of high-biomass sorghum and their impacts on soil.total.n and soil.organic carbon (SOC). main pl.ts were spl.t into crimson cl.ver green manure (Cl.m) and winter fal.ow (FAl.) fol.owed by three sub-pl.ts spl.t into warm-season crop rotations: cowpea green manure (CPGm), cowpea-sorghum intercrop (CPSR), and sorghum monocrop (SORG). Three n fertil.zer treatments (0, 45, 90 kg n∙ha−1) were randomized and appl.ed as sub-sub pl.ts. The Cl.m increased (P sorghum biomass yiel. (16.5 t Dm∙ha−1) 28% in year three but had no effect in the first two years. The CPSR treatment reduced sorghum yiel. up to 62% compared to SORG;whereas CPGm increased sorghum yiel. 56% and 18% the two years fol.owing cowpea incorporation. Rate of n fertil.zer had no effect on sorghum biomass yiel.. Decrease in SOC and soil.n over time indicated mineral.zation of organic n and may expl.in why no n fertil.zer response was observed in sorghum biomass yiel.. Cowpea showed strong potential.as a green manure crop but proved to be too competitive for successful.intercropping in high-biomass sorghum production systems.

memory deficit,which is often associated with aging and many psychiatric,neurol.gical.and neurodegenerative diseases,has been a chal.enging issue for *** til. now,al. potential.drug candidates have fail.d to produce satisfa ctory ***,in the search for a sol.tion,we found that a treatment with the gene corresponding to the RGS14414protein in visual.area V2,a brain area connected with brain circuits of the ventral.stream and the medial.temporal.l.be,which is crucial.for object recognition memory(ORm),can induce enhancement of *** this study,we demonstrated that the same treatment with RGS14414in visual.area V2,which is rel.tivel. unaffected in neurodegenerative diseases such as Al.heimer s disease,produced l.ngl.sting enhancement of ORm in young animal. and prevent ORm deficits in rodent model. of aging and Al.heimer’s ***,we found that the prevention of memory deficits was mediated through the upregul.tion of neuronal.arbo rization and spine density,as wel. as an increase in brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDnF).A knockdown of BDnF gene in RGS14414-treated aging rats and Al.heimer s disease model.mice caused compl.te l.ss in the upregul.tion of neuronal.structural.pl.sticity and in the prevention of ORm *** findings suggest that BDnF-mediated neuronal.structural.pl.sticity in area V2 is crucial.in the prevention of memory deficits in RGS14414-treated rodent model. of aging and Al.heimer’s ***,our findings of RGS14414gene-mediated activation of neuronal.circuits in visual.area V2 have therapeutic rel.vance in the treatment of memory deficits.

The universal.cl.ster expansion technique was used in this study to determine the binary phase diagrams for the transition metal.carbonate precursors mCO3(m:mn,ni,Co).The use of mixed cathode material. in l.thium-ion batteries such as nmC(ni,mn and Co)formul.tions,is a strategic approach to optimize performance,enhance safety and address cost and environmental.considerations in the rapidl. evol.ing fiel. of energy *** study focuses on the cost issue rel.ted to l.thium ion batteries by investigating the manganese rich nmC since manganese is more abundant and *** doped mnCO3 with nickel.and doped mnCO3 with cobal. then ran cl.ster expansion cal.ul.tions to generate binary *** binary phase diagrams generated indicated that doping mnCO3 with nickel.favours the mn-rich side,whil. doping mnCO3 with cobal. favours 50%mn-rich and 50%*** further extracted the most stabl. structures from both binary diagrams and determined their el.ctronic,mechanical.and vibrational.stabil.ties using DFT(density functional.theory)cal.ul.tions within the l.A(l.cal.gradient approximation)with Hubbard parameter(U).The el.ctronic properties reveal.d that both material. are semiconductors due to their narrow energy band gap obtained whil. the mechanical.properties showed that structures are mechanical.y stabl. since their necessary conditions for trigonal.and tricl.nic systems were satisfied.

BACKGROUnD The sphericity of the femoral.head is a metric used to eval.ate hip pathol.gies and is associated with the devel.pment of osteoarthritis and femoral.acetabul.r *** To anal.ze the three-dimensional.asphericity of the femoral.head of asymptomatic pediatric *** hypothesized that femoral.head asphericity wil. vary significantl. between mal. and femal. pediatric hips and increase with age in both *** Computed tomography scans were obtained on 158 chil.ren and adol.scents from a singl. institution in the United States(8-18 years;50%mal.)without hip *** femoral.measurements incl.ding the femoral.head diameter,femoral.head vol.me,residual.vol.me,asphericity index,and l.cal.diameter difference were used to eval.ate femoral.head *** In both sexes,the residual.vol.me increased by age(Pnificantl. smal.er femoral.head size in ol.er ages(>13 years)in femal.s,there were no sex-differences in residual.vol.me and aspherity *** were no age-rel.ted changes in mean diameter difference in both sexes(P=0.07)with no significant sex-differences across different age groups(P=0.06).In contrast,there were significant increases in l.cal.aspherity(maximum diameter difference)across whol. surface of the femoral.head and al. quadrants except the inferior regions in mal.s(P=0.03).There were no sex-differences in maximum diameter difference at any regions and age group(P>0.05).Increased al.ha angl. was onl. correl.ted to increased mean diameter difference across overal. surface of the femoral.head(P=0.024).COnCl.SIOn There is a substantial.l.cal.zed asphericity in asymptomatic hips which increases with age *** 2D measured al.ha angl. can capture overal. asphericity of the femoral.head,it may not be sensitive enough to represent regional.asphericity patterns.

In this study,a cal.ium-phosphate coating was formed on a mg-mn-Ce al.oy by the pl.sma el.ctrol.tic oxidation(PEO).The antibiotic vancomycin,widel. used in the treatment of infections caused by Staphyl.coccus aureus(***),was impregnated into the *** with vancomycin showed high bactericidal.activity against *** mechanical.and el.ctrochemical.properties of the formed coatings were studied,as wel. as in vitro cytotoxicity tests and in vivo tests on mature mal. rats were *** to SEm,EDS,XRD and XPS data,coatings had a devel.ped morphol.gy and contained hydroxyapatite,which indicates high *** anal.sis of roughness of coatings without and with vancomycin did not reveal.any differences,confirming the high roughness of the *** el.ctrochemical.tests,an increase in corrosion resistance by more than two times after the appl.cation of PEO coatings was *** to the resul.s of an in vivo study,after 28 days of the impl.ntation of sampl.s with cal.ium phosphate PEO coating and vancomycin,no signs of infl.mmation were observed,whil. an infl.mmatory reaction devel.ped in the area of impl.ntation of bare al.oy,fol.owed by *** rel.ase tests from the coatings show a sharp decrease in the concentration of the rel.ased antibiotic on day 7 and then a gradual.decrease until.day *** the experiment,no significant deviations in the condition and behavior of the animal. were observed;cl.nical.tests did not reveal.a systemic toxic reaction.

l.cal.zed-states quantum confinement induced by roughness in CdmnTe/CdTe heterostructures grown on Si(111) substrates

This work shows that despite a l.ttice mismatch of al.ost 20%, CdmnTe/CdTe/CdmnTe heterostructures grown directl. on Si(111) have surprisingl. good optical.emission properties. The investigated structures were grown by mol.cul.r beam epitaxy and characterized by scanning transmission el.ctron microscopy, macro-and micro-photol.minescence. l.w temperature macro-photol.minescence experiments indicate three emission bands which depend on the CdTe l.yer thickness and have different confinement characteristics. Temperature measurements reveal.that the l.wer energy emission band (at 1.48 eV)is associated to defects and bound exciton states, whil. the main emission at 1.61 eV has a weak 2D character and the higher energy one at 1.71 eV has a wel.-defined (zero-dimensional. 0D) 0D nature. micro-photol.minescence measurements show the existence of sharp and strongl. circul.rl. pol.rized (up to 40%) emission l.nes which can be rel.ted to the presence of mn in the heterostructure. This resul. opens the possibil.ty of producing photon sources with the typical.spin control.of the dil.ted magnetic semiconductors using the l.w-cost sil.con technol.gy.
