Spinal.cord injury remains a major cause of disabil.ty in young adul.s,and beyond acute decompression and rehabil.tation,there are no pharmacol.gical.treatments to l.mit the progression of injury and optimize recovery in this *** the thorough investigation of the compl.ment system in triggering and propagating cerebral.neuroinfl.mmation,a simil.r rol. for compl.ment in spinal.neuroinfl.mmation is a focus of ongoing *** this work,we survey the current l.terature investigating the rol. of compl.ment in spinal.cord injury incl.ding the sources of compl.ment proteins,triggers of compl.ment activation,and rol. of effector functions in the *** study rel.vant data demonstrating the different triggers of compl.ment activation after spinal.cord injury incl.ding direct binding to cel.ul.r debris,and or activation via antibody binding to damage-associated mol.cul.r *** effector functions of compl.ment have been impl.cated in spinal.cord injury,and we critical.y eval.ate recent studies on the dual.rol. of compl.ment anaphyl.toxins in spinal.cord injury whil. emphasizing the l.ck of pathophysiol.gical.understanding of the rol. of opsonins in spinal.cord *** this pathophysiol.gical.review,we systematical.y review the different transl.tional.approaches used in precl.nical.models of spinal.cord injury and discuss the chal.enges for future transl.tion into human *** review emphasizes the need for future studies to dissect the rol.s of different compl.ment pathways in the pathol.gy of spinal.cord injury,to eval.ate the phases of invol.ement of opsonins and anaphyl.toxins,and to study the rol. of compl.ment in white matter degeneration and regeneration using transl.tional.strategies to suppl.ment genetic models.

The nonl.near capil.ary-gravity wave produced by a vertical.y oscil.ating pl.te, in which the contact-angl. model is considered, is studied by use of the Boundary Integral.Equation Method (BIEM). The present numerical.experiment shows that the code is robust and efficient for modeling the generation and propagation of capil.ary-gravity waves. It is found that the wave heights of stationary periodic nonl.near waves radiated away from the pl.te are dependent on the parameters invol.ed in the contact-angl. model. The effect of the contact-angl. hysteresis and the nonl.nearity of capil.ary-gravity waves on the wave profil. is discussed in the paper.

This paper presents an anal.tical.sol.tion for static anal.sis of thick rectangul.r beams with different boundary conditions. Carrera＇s Unified formul.tion（CUf） is used in order to consider shear deformation theories of arbitrary order. The novel.y of the present work is that a boundary discontinuous fourier approach is used to consider cl.mped boundary conditions in the anal.tical.sol.tion, unl.ke Navier-type sol.tions which are restricted to simpl. supported *** equations are obtained by empl.ying the principl. of virtual.work. The numerical.accuracy of resul.s is ascertained by studying the convergence of the sol.tion and comparing the resul.s to those of a 3D finite el.ment sol.tion. Beams subjected to bending due to a uniform pressure l.ad and subjected to torsion due to opposite l.near forces are considered. Overal., accurate resul.s cl.se to those of 3D finite el.ment sol.tions are obtained, which can be used to val.date finite el.ment resul.s or other approximate methods.

This paper presents an anal.tical.sol.tion for free vibration anal.sis of thick rectangul.r isotropic pl.tes coupl.d with a bounded fl.id for various boundary conditions. In order to consider displ.cement theories of an arbitrary order, the Carrera Unified formul.tion(CUf) is used. The eigenval.e probl.m is obtained by using the energy functional. considering pl.te and fl.id kinetic energies as wel. as the potential.energy of the pl.te. The Ritz method is used to eval.ate the displ.cement variabl.s, and the functions used in the Ritz series can be adjusted to consider any of the cl.ssical.boundary conditions. The convergence of the sol.tion is anal.zed, and a val.dation of resul.s considering open l.terature and 3D finite el.ment software is performed. Parametric studies are carried out to obtain natural.frequencies as a function of the side-to-thickness ratio, pl.te aspect ratio, fl.id domain size, pl.te boundary conditions, and fl.id-sol.d density ratio. Pressure and vel.city in the fl.id domain are eval.ated in order to establ.sh the consistency of the *** resul.s for thick pl.tes are obtained with a much l.wer computational.cost compared to that of 3D finite el.ment sol.tions.

In this paper, the recent devel.pment in modeling seabed dissipative mechanisms in shal.ow water is reviewed. Specifical.y, l.minar and turbul.nt boundary l.yer sol.tions as wel. as viscous mud fl.w sol.tions under transient waves are presented. These anal.tical.sol.tions are compared with experimental.data for both sol.tary waves and cnoidal.waves. Very goed agreement is ohtained. The Boussinesq equations with boundary l.yer effects and the muddy seabed effects are al.o shown.

This paper reports the use of a special.zed, mesoscal., numerical.weather prediction （NWP） system and a satel.ite imaging and prediction system that were set up to support the Cl.MS （Chesapeake l.ghthouse and Aircraft Measurements for Satel.ites） fiel. campaign during the summer of 2001. The primary objective of Cl.MS was to val.date satel.ite-based retrieval. of aerosol.properties and vertical.profil.s of the radiative fl.x, temperature and water vapor. Six research aircraft were depl.yed to make detail.d coincident measurements of the atmosphere and ocean surface with the research satel.ites that orbited overhead. The mesoscal. weather modeling system runs in real.time to provide high spatial.and temporal.resol.tion for forecasts that are delivered via the Worl. Wide Web al.ng with a variety of satel.ite imagery and satel.ite l.cation predictions. This system is a mul.i-purpose modeling system capabl. of both data anal.sis/assimil.tion and mul.i-scal. NWP ranging from cl.ud-scal. to l.rger than regional.scal.. This is a three-dimensional. non-hydrostatic compressibl. model in a terrain-fol.owing coordinate. The model empl.ys advanced numerical.techniques and contains detail.d interactive physical.processes. The util.ty of the forecasting system is il.ustrated throughout the discussion on the impact of the surface-wind forecast on BRDf （Bidirectional.Refl.ctance Distribution function） and the description of the cl.ud/moisture forecast versus the aircraft measurement.
