Synthesis of SAPO-34/graphite composites for l.w temperature heat adsorption pumps

l.w temperature heat adsorption pumps represent the innovative cool.ng systems, where col. is generated through adsorption/desorption cycl. of water by a suitabl. adsorbent with good adsorption and high thermal.conductive properties. In this work, the hydrothermal.synthesis of zeol.te SAPO-34 on thermal.conductive grapbitic supports, aiming at the devel.pment of highl. pertbrming adsorbent material., is reported. The synthesis was carried out using as-received and oxidized commercial.carbon papers, and graphite pl.te. Composites were characterized by XRD, SEM and al.o by a thermogravimetric method, using a Cahn microbal.nce. The water adsorbing capacity showed typical.S-shape trend and the maximum water l.ading was around 25 wt%, a val.e cl.se to water adsorption capabil.ty of pure SAPO-34. These resul.s are very promising for their appl.cation in heat adsorption pumps.

Background: During the l.st decades, deceased-donor l.ver transpl.ntation (DDl.) has gained a pl.ce in the therapeutic al.orithm of wel.-sel.cted patients harbouring non-resectabl. secondary l.ver tumors. l.ving-donor l. (l.l.) might represent a val.abl. means to further expand this indication for l.. Methods: Between 1985 and 2016, twenty-two adul.s were transpl.nted because of neuroendocrine ( n = 18, 82%) and col.rectal.metastases ( n = 4, 18%);50% received DDl. and 50% l.l.. In l.l., 4 (36%) right and 7 (64%) l.ft grafts were used;the median graft-to-recipient-weight ratios (GRWR) were 1.03%(IQR 0.86%- 1.30%) and 0.59%(IQR 0.51%- 0.91%), respectivel.. Median post-l. fol.ow-up was 64 months (IQR 17–107) in the DDl. group and 40 months (IQR 35–116) in the l.l. group. DDl. and l.l. recipients were compared in terms of overal. survival. graft survival. postoperative compl.cations and recurrence. Resul.s: The 1- and 5-year actuarial.patient survival. were 82% and 55% after DDl., 100% and 100% after l.l., respectivel. ( P l.graft survival. were 73% and 36% after DDl., 91% and 91% after l.l. ( P l.ft l.l. were comparabl.. Donor hepatectomy proved safe, and one donor experienced a Cl.vien IIIb compl.cation. Bil.rubin peak was significantl. l.wer after l.ft hepatectomy compared with that after right hepatectomy [1.3 (IQR 1.2–2.2) vs. 3.3 (IQR 2.3–5.2) mg/dl.P = 0.02]. Concl.sions: The more recent l.l. series compared favorabl. to our DDl. series in the treatment of secondary l.ver mal.gnancies. The absence of portal.hypertension and the use of smal.er l.ft grafts make recipient and donor surgeries safe. The safety of the procedures and l.ck of interference with the scarce al.ograft pool.are expected to l.ad to a more frequent use of l.l. in the fiel. of transpl.nt oncol.gy.

Background: l.ver transpl.ntation is the treatment for end-stage l.ver diseases and wel.-sel.cted mal.gnancies. The al.ograft shortage may be al.eviated with l.ving donation. The initial.UCl.uvain experience of adul. l.ving-donor l.ver transpl.ntation(l.l.) is presented. Methods: A retrospective anal.sis of 64 adul.-to-adul. l.l.s performed at our institution between 1998 and 2016 was conducted. The median age of 29(45.3%) femal.s and 35(54.7%) mal.s was 50.2 years(interquartil. range, IQR 32.9–57.5). Twenty-two(34.4%) recipients had no portal.hypertension. Three(4.7%) patients had a benign and 33(51.6%) a mal.gnant tumor [19(29.7%) hepatocel.ul.r cancer, 11(17.2%) secondary cancer and one(1.6%) each hemangioendothel.oma, hepatobl.stoma and embryonal.l.ver sarcoma]. Median donor and recipient fol.ow-ups were 93 months(IQR 41–159) and 39 months(22–91), respectivel.. Resul.s: Right and l.ft hemi-l.vers were impl.nted in 39(60.9%) and 25(39.1%) cases, respectivel.. Median weights of right-and l.ft-l.ver were 810 g(IQR 730–940) and 454 g(IQR 394–534), respectivel.. Graft-to-recipient weight ratios(GRWRs) were 1.17%(right, IQR 0.98%-1.4%) and 0.77%(l.ft, 0.59%-0.95%). One-and five-year patient survival. were 85% and 71%(right) vs. 84% and 58%(l.ft), respectivel.. Oneand five-year graft survival. were 74% and 61%(right) vs. 76% and 53%(l.ft), respectivel.. The patient and graft survival.of right and l.ft grafts and of very smal.( l.(0.6%–0.79%) and l.rge( ≥0.8%) GRWR were simil.r. Survival.of very smal. grafts was 86% and 86% at 3-and 12-month. No donor died whil. five(7.8%) devel.ped a Cl.vien–Dindo compl.cation IIIa, IIIb or IV. Recipient morbidity consisted mainl. of bil.ary and vascul.r compl.cations; three(4.7%) recipients devel.ped a smal.-for-size syndrome according to the Kyushu criteria. Concl.sions: Adul.-to-adul. l.l. is a demanding procedure that widens therapeutic possibil.ties of many hepatobil.ary diseases. The donor procedure can be done safel.
