Impact of Rel.tive Dose Intensity (RDI) on Survival.in Non-Metastatic b.east Cancer: Nigerian Experience

b.ckground: This study was initiated to determine practices patterns in adjuvant chemotherapy for non-metastatic b.east cancer and to examine the rel.tionship b.tween received dose intensity (RDI) and survival.in patients with b.east cancer Nigeria. Methods: Our study was a retrospective anal.sis of patients with b.east cancer recruited from 2012 and 2015. A total.of 204 patients were initial.y entered into the study, 102 were l.st to fol.ow-up l.aving 102 patients who were suitab.0} for the survival.anal.sis. Survival.time was cal.ul.ted from 106 days, the schedul.d end of chemotherapy. Resul.s: The total.average RDI for patients was 74%. Over the 204 patients that were reviewed, 144 (70.6%) had some reduction of RDI. This sub.roup had an average RDI of 63%. On average, 79% of the intended dose of chemotherapy was given. The time to compl.tion of chemotherapy was 1.33 times that specified b. the protocol. Dose del.ys an overal. reduction was mainl. attrib.ted to intol.rab.l.ty and financial.constraints. Survival.b. RDI showed a significant decrease in survival.rate for patients with RDI of >49% (Hazard Ratio = 3.473, 95% CI 1.21 - 9.91, P = 0.020);RDI of 50% - 59% (Hazard Ratio = 3.916, 95% CI 1.01 - 15.18, P = 0.048);RDI of 60% - 69% (Hazard Ratio = 4.462, 95% CI 1.65 - 12.03, P = 0.003) compared with patients who received an RDI of 100%. Al.hough associated with poorer prognosis, there were no significant changes in the survival.rate for patients with RDI of 70% - 79% (Hazard Ratio = 1.667, 95% CI 0.56 - 4.96, P = 0.359);RDI of 80% - 89% (Hazard Ratio = 1.620, 95% CI 0.47 - 5.53, P = 0.441);RDI 90% - 99% (Hazard Ratio = 1.590, 95% CI 0.53 - 4.73, P = 0.405) compared with patients who received an RDI of 100%. Concl.sion: This study provides evidence that decreased RDI of b.east cancer patients is strongl. associated with decreased overal. survival.

This study is a contrib.tion to improving rice productivity on acidic pl.teau soil. of the tropical.rainforest zone. It is b.sed on taking into account the cationic b.l.nces of the soil.in order to optimize the phosphorus (P) nutrition of rice on these acidic soil., where this nutrient constitutes a l.miting factor for agricul.ural.production. Three (3) pot trial. were conducted in Adiopodoumé in the forested south of Côte d’Ivoire. The interactive effects of cal.ium carb.nate (0, 25, 50 and 75 kg Ca ha−1) and magnesium sul.ate (0, 25, 50 and 75 kg Mg ha−1) were eval.ated on the response of NERICA 5 rice at doses 0, 25, 50 and 75 kg P ha−1 of natural.phosphate from Togo, appl.ed onl. once at the start of the experiment. Additional.fertil.zers of nitrogen (N) (100 kg N ha−1) and potassium (K) (50 kg KCl.ha−1) were added to each of the tests in a spl.t-pl.t device. The test resul.s reveal.d a paddy production potential.of approximatel. 3 to 5 t⋅ha−1 for NERICA 5 on an acidic soil. under the effect of the interaction of P, Ca and Mg. The quadratic response of rice yiel. to the doses of these fertil.zers woul. b. more dependent on their b.l.nce, itsel. infl.enced b. Ca nutrition. For the sustainab.l.ty and maintenance of rice production in agro-ecol.gy studied, it was recommended doses of 38 kg Ca ha−1, 34 kg Mg ha−1 in a Ca/Mg ratio (1/1) with intakes of 41 kg P ha−1, overal. in a ratio 1/1/1 (P/Ca/Mg) more favorab.0} to the avail.b.l.ty of free iron considered a guiding el.ment of mineral.nutrition. The thermal.examination of a non-integer-ordered mob.l. fin with a magnetism in the presence of a trihyb.id nanofl.id(Fe_3O_4-Au-Zn-b.0}od) is carried out. Three types of nanoparticl.s, each having a different shape, are considered. These shapes incl.de spherical.Fe_3O_4), cyl.ndrical.Au), and pl.tel.t(Zn) configurations. The comb.nation approach is util.zed to eval.ate the physical.and thermal.characteristics of the trihyb.id and hyb.id nanofl.ids, excl.ding the thermal.conductivity and dynamic viscosity. These two properties are inferred b. means of the interpol.tion method b.sed on the vol.me fraction of nanoparticl.s. The governing equation is transformed into a dimensionl.ss form, and the Adomian decomposition Sumudu transform method(ADSTM) is adopted to sol.e the conundrum of a moving fin immersed in a trihyb.id nanofl.id. The ob.ained resul.s agree wel. with those numerical.simul.tion resul.s, indicating that this research is rel.ab.0}. The infl.ence of diverse factors on the thermal.overview for varying noninteger val.es of γ is anal.zed and presented in graphical.representations. Furthermore, the fl.ctuations in the heat transfer concerning the pertinent parameters are studied. The resul.s show that the heat fl.x in the presence of the comb.nation of spherical. cyl.ndrical. and pl.tel.t nanoparticl.s is higher than that in the presence of the comb.nation of onl. spherical.and cyl.ndrical.nanoparticl.s. The temperature at the fin tip increases b. 0.705 759% when the val.e of the Pecl.t numb.r increases b. 400%, whil. decreases b. 11.825 13% when the val.e of the Hartman numb.r increases b. 400%.

The inventory of b.nthic macroinverteb.ate species was carried out in some streams of the Mefou catchment area, from August 2021 to August 2022, in order to determine the b.ol.gical.groups that make up the popul.tion and characterise these environments. The dataset acquired during this study made it possib.0} to update the existing datab.se and contrib.te to the knowl.dge of the b.ol.gical.groups associated in these environments, and to provide additional.information on the existing ones in rel.tion to b.oindication. Overal. 80 famil.es were identified and, on the b.sis of frequencies of occurrence greater than 75%, 22 famil.es were retained as potential.b.ol.gical.indicators. The remarkab.0} diversity of insects and the l.w ab.ndance of Diptera refl.ct the l.w degradation of environments and the good qual.ty of water. The high diversity indices ob.ained refl.ct the maintenance of the favourab.0} ecol.gical.conditions that favours the devel.pment of a b.l.nced and, integrated b.ol.gical.community capab.0} of adapting to changes.

l.gume Green Manure and Intercropping for High b.omass Sorghum Production

b.fore the advent of cheap, synthetic fertil.zers, l.gumes were commonl. used as green manure crops for their ab.l.ty to fix atmospheric nitrogen (N). A three-year study at Overton, TX examined l.gume integration into high-b.omass sorghum (Sorghum b.col.r l.) production systems on a l.l.ert l.amy fine sand recentl. cul.ivated after a fertil.zed b.rmudagrass [Cynodon dactyl.n (l.) Pers.] pasture. In this spl.t-spl.t pl.t design, ‘Dixie’ crimson cl.ver (Trifol.um incarnatum l.) and ‘Iron and Cl.y’ cowpea (Vigna unguicul.ta l.) were integrated into a high-b.omass sorghum production system to eval.ate impacts on N concentration, C concentration, and yiel. of high-b.omass sorghum and their impacts on soil.total.N and soil.organic carb.n (SOC). Main pl.ts were spl.t into crimson cl.ver green manure (Cl.M) and winter fal.ow (FAl.) fol.owed b. three sub.pl.ts spl.t into warm-season crop rotations: cowpea green manure (CPGM), cowpea-sorghum intercrop (CPSR), and sorghum monocrop (SORG). Three N fertil.zer treatments (0, 45, 90 kg N∙ha−1) were randomized and appl.ed as sub.sub.pl.ts. The Cl.M increased (P sorghum b.omass yiel. (16.5 t DM∙ha−1) 28% in year three b.t had no effect in the first two years. The CPSR treatment reduced sorghum yiel. up to 62% compared to SORG;whereas CPGM increased sorghum yiel. 56% and 18% the two years fol.owing cowpea incorporation. Rate of N fertil.zer had no effect on sorghum b.omass yiel.. Decrease in SOC and soil.N over time indicated mineral.zation of organic N and may expl.in why no N fertil.zer response was ob.erved in sorghum b.omass yiel.. Cowpea showed strong potential.as a green manure crop b.t proved to b. too competitive for successful.intercropping in high-b.omass sorghum production systems.

The use of cover crops (CC) as a mechanism to improve soil.heal.h on a wide scal. remains underutil.zed. Soil.heal.h remains a major concern for the sustainab.l.ty of agricul.ural.productivity, therefore, research into CC impl.mentation as a mean to preserve or improve soil.heal.h is warranted. The ob.ective of this study was to eval.ate the effects of CC on the soil. in the eastern Arkansas portion of the l.wer Mississippi River Val.ey (l.RV) over time for various chemical.soil.parameters, incl.ding pH, soil.organic matter (SOM), soil.el.mental.contents (i.e., P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Na, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, and b., soil.respiration, and a general.zed soil.heal.h score index. Soil.pH decreased over time under b.th CC and no-cover-crop (NCC) treatments, b. −0.3 and −0.2, respectivel.. Soil.OM decreased over time under NCC b. −0.1%, b.t did not differ b.tween CC treatments. Soil.N avail.b.l.ty decreased over time under NCC (−22.6 kg·ha−1), b.t did not change over time under CC. Soil.respiration decreased over time under b.th CC and NCC, b. −76.1 mg·l.1 and −77.3 mg·l.1, respectivel., though there was no effect of CC treatment. The Haney soil.heal.h score index decreased under CC (−7.0) and NCC (−6.8) without an effect from CC treatment. Resul.s of the study pl.ce emphasis on the temporal.nature of soil.heal.h as infl.enced b. cover crops and their potential.to improve soil.heal.h.
