Studies of meta.ol.c va.ia.ion in birds ha.e invol.ed both wil. a.d ca.tive individua.0}, but few studies ha.e investi- ga.ed whether ca.tivity directl. infl.ences meta.ol.c ra.es, despite such va.ia.ion potentia.0}y confounding concl.sions rega.ding how meta.ol.c ra.es respond to the conditions under study. In a.dition, whether short-term ca.tivity infl.ences meta.ol.c ra.e re- pea.a.il.ty in birds is currentl. uninvestiga.ed. In this study, we mea.ured Msum （ma.ima.0}col.-induced meta.ol.c ra.es） in sum- mer a.cl.ma.ized a.erica. gol.finches Spinus tristis directl. a.ter ca.ture from wil. popul.tions, a.ter a.proxima.el. 2 weeks of indoor ca.tivity （Ca.tive 1）, a.d a.a.n a.ter a. a.ditiona.0}1-2 weeks of ca.tivity （Ca.tive 2）. M~ increa.ed significa.tl. （16.9%） fol.owing the initia.0}ca.tive period, but rema.ned sta.l. therea.ter. Body ma.s （Mb） a.0}o increa.ed significa.tl. （9.2%） during the initia.0}ca.tive period but rema.ned sta.l. therea.ter, suggesting tha. muscl. growth a.d/or remodel.ng of body composition pro- duced the observed meta.ol.c va.ia.ion. Mb a.d Msum were not significa.tl. repea.a.l. between wil. a.d Ca.tive 1 birds, but were significa.tl. repea.a.l. between Ca.tive 1 a.d Ca.tive 2 groups. These da.a.suggest tha. ca.tion must be exercised when extra.ol.ting meta.ol.c ra.es from short-term ca.tive to wil. popul.tions. In a.dition, Msum wa. a.repea.a.l. tra.t for birds under conditions where mea. meta.ol.c ra.es rema.ned sta.l., but Msum repea.a.il.ty disa.pea.ed during a.cl.ma.ion to conditions pro- moting phenotypica.0}y fl.xibl. meta.ol.c responses. This suggests tha. the ca.a.ity for phenotypic fl.xibil.ty va.ies a.ong indi- vidua.0}, a.d such va.ia.ion coul. ha.e fitness consequences

The a.m of the present study wa. to determine the preva.0}nce of bovine cysticercosis in both ca.tl. a.d buffl.a., in Egypt a.d to a.sess the cysticida.0}effica.y of Ba.0}nites a.gyptia.a.fruits (B. a.gyptia.a. a.d Moringa.ol.ifera.seeds (M. ol.ifera. extra.ts in experimenta.0}y infected mice. The study detected the l.vel.of tumor necrosis fa.tor (TNF-α) to monitor the immune a.d infl.mma.ory responses of experimenta.0}y infected mice. Through mea. inspection, a.tota.0}number of 2125 ma.0} bovine, 2 to 5 yea.s ol., (1125 ca.tl. a.d 1000 buffl.es) were exa.ined under the a.thority of a.0}sa.ine a.d a.0}a.a. officia.0}a.a.toirs in Ca.ro Governora.e, Egypt covering the period extended from Ma.ch 2022 to a.ril.2023. The overa.0} preva.0}nce of the disea.e a.ong bovine wa. 7.8% (6.31% of ca.tl. a.d 9.5% of buffl.es). Besides, B. a.gyptia.a.a.d M. ol.ifera.extra.ts showed cysticida.0}a.tivity in experimenta.0}y infected mice. a.decrea.e in the numbers of cysticerci wa. found in a.0} trea.ed mice groups, a.d up to 88% reduction wa. a.hieved in the B. a.gyptia.a.trea.ed group;higher tha. tha. wa. recorded in both M. ol.ifera.(72.23%) a.d a.0}enda.ol.-trea.ed ones (80.56%). Postmortem findings proved tha. M. ol.ifera.a.d B. a.gyptia.a.reduced cysticerci numbers compa.a.l. to a.commercia.0}a.thel.intic. The study showed a.significa.t decrea.e (P 0.001) in TNF-α l.vel. a.ter trea.ment with Ba.0}nites a.d Moringa.extra.ts, compa.ed with the untrea.ed control.a.d the a.0}enda.ol.-trea.ed groups.
