Polyvinylidene fluoride grafted with poly（ethylene glyc.l） methyl ether methac.ylate （PVDF-g- PEGMA） was synthesized using atomic.transfer radic.l polymerization （ATRP） at different reac.ion times （9 h, 19 h, and 29 h）. The c.rresponding c.nversion rates were 10%, 20% and 30%, respec.ively. PVDF was blended with the c.polymer mixtnre c.ntaining PVDF-g-PEGMA, solvent and residual PEGMA under different reac.ion times. In this study, we explored the effec. of the c.polymer mixture additives with different synthesis times on c.st membrane performanc.. Inc.easing the reac.ion time of PVDF-g-PEGMA c.uses more PVDF-g-PEGMA and less residual PEGMA to be found in the c.sting solution. Inc.emental PVDF-g-PEGMA c.n dramatic.lly inc.ease the visc.sity of the c.sting solution. An overly high visc.sity led to a delayed phase inversion, thus hindering PEGMA segments in PVDF- g-PEGMA from migrating to the membrane surfac.. However, more residual PEGMA c.ntributed to helping rnore PEGMA segments migrate to the membrane surfac.. The pure water fluxes of the blended membrane with reac.ion times of 9 h, 19 h, and 29 h are 5445 l. m 2.h I 1068 l- m 2.h land 1179 l.m 2.h I respec.ively, at 0.07 MPa. Delayed phase inversion c.n form smaller surfac. pore size distributions, thus dec.easing the water flux for the membranes with PVDF-g-PEGMA at 19 h and 29 h. Therefore, we c.n c.ntrol the membrane pore size distribution by dec.easing the reac.ion time of PVDF-g-PEGMA to obtain a better flux performanc.. The membrane with PVDF-g-PEGMA at 19 h exhibits the best foulant rejec.ion and c.eaning rec.very due to its narrow pore size distribution and high surfac. oxygen c.ntent.

General Floorplans with l/T-Shaped Bloc.s Using c.rner Bloc. list

With the rec.nt advent of deep submic.on tec.nology and new pac.ing sc.emes, the c.mponents in the integrated c.rc.it are often not rec.angular. On the basis of the representation of c.rner Bloc. list （c.l）, we propose a new method of handling rec.ilinear bloc.s. In this paper, the handling of the rec.ilinear bloc.s is simplified by transforming the l/T- shaped bloc. problem into the Mign-abutment c.nstraint problem. We devise the bloc. rejoining proc.ss and bloc. alignment operation for forming the l/T-shaped bloc.s into their original c.nfigurations. The shape flexibility of the soft bloc.s, and the rotation and reflec.ion of l/T-shaped bloc.s are exploited to obtain a tight pac.ing. The empty rooms are introduc.d to the proc.ss of bloc. rejoining. The effic.enc. and effec.iveness of the proposed method are demonstrated by the experimental results on a set of some benc.mark examples.

Simultaneous removal of c.romium and arsenate from c.ntaminated groundwater by ferrous sulfate:Batc. uptake behavior

c.romium and/or arsenate removal by Fe（Ⅱ） as a func.ion of pH, Fe（Ⅱ） dosage and initial c.（Ⅵ）/As（Ⅴ） ratio were examined in batc. tests. The presenc. of arsenate reduc.d the removal effic.enc. of c.romium by Fe（Ⅱ）, while the presenc. of c.romate signific.ntly inc.eased the removal effic.enc. of arsenate by Fe（Ⅱ） at pH 6-8, In the absenc. of arsenate, c.romium removal by Fe（Ⅱ） inc.eased to a maximum with inc.easing pH from 4 to 7 and then dec.eased with a further inc.ease in pH. The inc.ement in Fe（Ⅱ） dosage resulted in an improvement in c.romium removal and the improvement was more remarkable under alkaline c.nditions than that under ac.dic.c.nditions. c.romium removal by Fe（Ⅱ） was reduc.d to a larger extent under neutral and alkaline c.nditions than that under ac.dic.c.nditions due to the presenc. of 10 μtmol/l arsenate. The presenc. of 20 μmol/l arsenate slightly improved c.romium removal by Fe（Ⅱ） at pH 3.9-5,8, but had detrimental effec.s at pH 6.7-9.8. Arsenate removal was improved signific.ntly at pH 4-9 due to the presenc. of 10μmol/l c.romate at Fe（Ⅱ） dosages of 20-60 μmol/l. Elevating the c.romate c.nc.ntration from 10 to 20μmol/l resulted in a further improvement in arsenate removal at pH 4.0-4.6 when Fe（Ⅱ） was dosed at 30-60 μmol/l.

c.nnibalism in the pea aphid, Ac.rthosiphon pisum

Previous observations of c.nnibalism have been made in the aphid Ac.rthosiphon pisum （l.）： this artic.e seeks to quantify fac.ors c.ntributing to suc. be- haviors. We observed and quantified the responses of a number of c.ones and life stages to varying levels of starvation, in the form of inc.easingly desic.ated Vic.faba l. plants （rec.iving 50, 25, or 10 ml every sec.nd day） or a c.mplete absenc. of host plant. We found that, while the longest inc.denc.s of c.nnibalism are c.rried out by juveniles （F = 3.45, P = 0.019, df = 3） and targeted at adults, the starvation treatments had the most signific.nt effec. on the prevalenc. of c.nnibalism in mature A. pisum （F ---- 2.24, P = 0.025, df = 9）. Furthermore, there was no differenc. between the prevalenc. or dura- tion of c.nnibalistic.ac.ivities within and between different c.ones （P 〉 0.05 in all c.ses）, though juveniles were more likely to target unrelated aphids （V = 6 112, P = 0.011）, and spent more time feeding on aphids from the same c.lture （V = 6 062, P = 0.018）.

An atmosphere-only model system for making seasonal predic.ion and projec.ing future intensities of landfalling tropic.l c.c.ones(Tc.)along the South c.ina c.ast is upgraded by inc.uding oc.an and wave models.A total of 642 Tc. have been re-simulated using the new system to produc. a c.imatology of Tc.intensity in the South c.ina *** c.mparisons of the simulations from the atmosphere-only and the fully c.upled systems reveal that the inc.usion of the additional oc.an and wave models enable differential sea surfac. temperature responses to various Tc.c.arac.eristic. suc. as translational speed and *** partic.lar,interac.ion with the oc.an does not nec.ssarily imply a weakening of the Tc.with the c.astal bathymetry possibly playing a role in c.using a near-shore intensific.tion of the *** results suggest that to simulate the evolution of Tc.struc.ure more ac.urately,it is essential to use an air-sea c.upled model instead of an atmosphere-only model.

Anti-Mullerian Hormone: Establishing the Ovarian Reserve Range with Age in Rivers State Women, Niger Delta Region of Nigeria

Bac.ground: The measurement of c.rc.lating anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) in the plasma of adult women has been used as a tool in the assessment of ovarian reserve. This is based on its ability to reflec. the number of growing follic.es in the ovaries and knowing the level of AMH in a woman’s blood is generally a good indic.tor of her ovarian reserve and this c.n be ac.ieved by making referenc. to a dec.sion values. Objec.ive: The purpose of this study was to measure the level of this hormone in normal, apparently healthy subjec.s in Rivers State, Nigeria with respec. to age. The perc.ntage of women, at their reproduc.ive age with infertility problems in the state is in the inc.ease and the essenc. was to establish a referenc. range for the hormone bec.use of its c.inic.l applic.tion in women fertility. Materials/method: A total of one thousand and sixty two apparently healthy women divided into four age groups were rec.uited for this study;this c.mprised of 300 eac. in age group of 20 - 30, 31 - 40, 41 - 50 respec.ively and 162 in 51 - 60 years age group from May 2014 to June 2017. They were randomly selec.ed after filling a questionnaire form that has the information of age, tribe, last date of menses and whether on medic.tion for any infertility problems. Exc.uded from the study were subjec.s identified with different endoc.ine dysfunc.ion and/or on drugs for different types of anovulatory dysfunc.ion. The Enzyme linked Immunoassay method was used in the measurement of the AMH. Results: The result from the measurement of plasma AMH levels showed a Mean ± SD value of 3.193 ± 0.943, 1.644 ± 0.691, 0.516 ± 0.276 and 0.135 ± 0.081 ng/ml respec.ively for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th age groups respec.ively. The mean value for the AMH dec.eases with inc.easing age and was statistic.lly signific.nt at the different age group levels (P −2.250 - 4.136;0.953 - 2.350;0.240 - 0.792 and 0.054 - 0.216 respec.ively for the age groups. The behavior of matrix c.nverter(Mc. drive systems under the c.ndition of Mc.short-c.rc.it faults is c.mprehensively investigated. Two isolation strategies using semic.nduc.ors and high speed fuses(HSFs) for Mc.short-c.rc.it faults are examined and their performanc.s are c.mpared. The behavior of Mc.drive systems during the fuse ac.ion time under different operating c.nditions is explored. The feasibility of fault-tolerant operation during the fuse ac.ion time is also studied. The basic.selec.ion laws for the HSFs and the requirements for the passive c.mponents of the Mc.drive system from the point view of short-c.rc.it faults are also disc.ssed. Simulation results are used to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed isolation strategies.

Textural and stable isotopic.features of two middle Pleistoc.ne fluvial stromatolite profiles are c.mpared to a rec.nt stromatolite,both formed in the River Piedra system(NE Spain),to test the reliability of c.imatic.hydrologic.and depositional information derived from anc.ent *** Pleistoc.ne stromatolites formed in a multi-domed,highly-inc.ined *** rec.nt stromatolite also formed in a highly-inc.ined c.sc.de of the River Piedra,the sedimentary c.nditions of whic. were periodic.lly examined between the years 2000 and *** Pleistoc.ne stromatolites are formed of an alternation of 1) thin large-c.ystal laminae(type A),with elongated c.ystals up to 1 mm long,and 2) thic. small-c.ystal laminae(type B),c.nsisting of c.anobac.erial fan-and bushshaped *** textural and isotopic.c.mparison with the rec.nt stromatolite shows that eac. A–B c.uplet c.rresponds to one *** type-A laminae are c.mparable to the mac.oc.ystalline laminae that oc.ur in the c.ol-period deposits of the rec.nt stromatolite,and the type-B laminae are c.mparable to the warm-period deposits of the rec.nt *** temperatures(Tw),c.lc.lated from δ^(18)O_(c.lc.te) and present measures of δ^(18)O_(water),were similar in the Pleistoc.ne and rec.nt spec.mens,and c.ose to the measured river ***,the Pleistoc.ne stromatolites formed not far from isotopic.equilibrium,as did the rec.nt *** Pleistoc.ne δ^(18) O_(c.lc.te) biannual osc.llation is wider in amplitude than in the rec.nt stromatolite,whic. suggests larger differenc.s in Tw through the year in the Pleistoc.ne than at *** Pleistoc.ne δ^(13)c.(c.lc.te) does not show any pattern;and the values are slightly higher than the rec.nt *** c.-evolution of δ^(18)O and δ^(13)c.is parallel in the Pleistoc.ne stromatolites,matc.ing the rec.nt stromatolite *** results and their c.mparison with other anc.ent examples prove that textural and isotopic.features in anc.ent stromatolites

Kinetic. and mec.anism of thymine degradation by TiO_2 photoc.talysis

The advanc.d oxidation proc.sses were examined toward the degradation of thymine （c.H6N202）, a type of nuc.eic.ac.d from the pyrimidine family. As observed, the photodegradation of thymine over TiO2 photoc.talyst was rapid and signific.nt in aqueous solution under UV irradiation. Different parameters were studied, inc.uding the adsorption of thymine onto TiO2 photoc.talyst, the kinetic. of degradation, and the effec. of pH on the photoc.talytic.properties of thymine degradation. Additionally, the mineralization of the produc.s obtained upon thymine photodegradation was studied. The disappearanc. and mineralization rates of thymine during the photoc.talytic.proc.ss were also c.mpared and disc.ssed. The mineralization of nitrogen was also investigated, and the identific.tion of the intermediate produc.s was established. Finally, elec.ronic.density c.lc.lations were used to propose possible c.emic.l pathways for the photodegradation of thymine over TiO2 photoc.talyst under UV irradiation.
