The development of transition metal complex-based luminescent chemosensors has recently aroused increasing interest for protein biomarker labelling and detection,especially for the real-time diagnosis and treatment of *** is owing to their unique photophysical properties,particularly their long-lived and environmentally sensitive emission,which can be easily controlled via the structural modification of *** this overview,we highlight recent examples of protein biomarker detection using group 8–9 metal-based luminescent chemosensors,including the frequently employed ruthenium(II)and iridium(III)*** mechanisms and sensing modes are described and compared,and the outlook and future directions of this field are discussed as well.

The application of rock magnetism methods to investigating the variations of magnetic minerals in the sediments is an important approach to the reestablishment of paleoclimate evolution. Thus we performed fine magnetic measurements on the loess-paleosol sequence (from l15 upwards to S5, in which l is short for loess, S is short for Paleosol, the same hereinafter) of Yushan strati-graphic section, which is on the southeastern margin of chinese loess Plateau, in lantian county of china's Shaanxi Province, and the thickness of which is ca. 40 m. Our study shows that the primary magnetic carriers of loess and paleosol in this section are magnetite, maghemite, hematite and goethite. Thermomagnetic analyses on the samples of representative horizons show that the higher pedogenesis degree of the sediments, the smaller variations of magnetization there will be before and after heating, probably related to the pedogenic alteration of loess sediments. Analyses of several magnetic parameters show a significant discrepancy between the paleoclimatic conditions recorded in the strata from the loess unit l15 upward to the paleosol unit S5 in the study area and those recorded in the relative strata of other sections on the chinese loess Plateau, and those recorded in marine sediments, indicating the great impact of regional geological background. Similarly, the rapid and intensive change recorded in the segment from l15 to S9-1, and the significant difference between the paleoclimate evolutions of the two periods before and after the change (from l15 to S9-1, and from l9 to the base of S6) indicate the strong alteration of magnetic carriers in the study area as a result of the alternations of summer and winter monsoons in East Asia.

The paper discussed theory and methodologies of soil erosion assessment and established an implementation process according to USlE factors combining with thematic paper maps and DEMs. Factors of USlE- R, K, S, l, P and c were adapted to the test area, the Nihe Gou catchment in chunhua county of Shaanxi Province, china. Afterwards the parameters of the USlE were evaluated individually and merged in order to calculate the amount of soil loss over the corresponding years, 1977 and 2003. In order to derive all necessary factors a TIN was generated out of a paper contour map. Furthermore, thematic paper maps and climate data completed the source of information for the implementation. The quantitative methodologies integrated with GIS were applied during the process. The verification of the result was performed comparing the real world situation at the test area with the resulting thematic maps. It shows these principles and methodologies were reasonable and feasible and can provide basis or reference for further areas of the chinese loess Plateau.

To separate MA （Am, cm） and some fission product elements （FPs） such as Tc, Pd, cs and Sr from high level liquid waste （HllW） systematically, we have been studying an advanced aqueous partitioning process, which uses selective adsorption as the separation method. For this process, we prepared several novel adsorbents which were immobilized in a porous sili- c^polymer composite support （SiO2-P）. Adsorption and separation behavior of various elements was studied experimentally in detail. Small scale separation tests using simulated HllW solutions were carried out. Pd（II） was strongly adsorbed by the AR-01 anion exchanger and effectively eluted off by using thiourea. Successful separation of Pd（ll） from simulated HllW was achieved. Te（VII） also exhibited strong adsorption on AR-01 and could be eluted off by using U（IV） as a reductive eluent. Am（Ⅲ） presented significantly high adsorbability and selectivity onto R-BTP/SiOz-P adsorbents over various FPs including ln（Ⅲ）. The R-BTP adsorbents were fairly stable in 3 M HNO3, but instable against 7-irradiation-3M HNO3. An advanced par- titioning process consisting of three separation columns for the target elements separation from HllW was proposed and the obtained experiment results indicated that the proposed process is essentially feasible.

Anti-allergic Effects of Ginsenosides Extracted by High Temperature and High Pressure Method

Ginseng（Panax ginseng c. A. Mey.） is a traditional medicinal herb in Asia. Studies have shown that ginsenosides significantly affect immnnoregulation and rare ginsenosides have anti-allergic effects. In this research, a high temperature and high pressure method was utilized to increase the contents of rare ginsenosides in the ginseng extract（GE）. The anti-allergic effects of this extract were investigated in vivo. Water was used as the extraction solvent in extracting the rare ginsenosides via the high temperature and high pressure method. Extraction time and temperature were investigated in order to increase the contents of rare ginsenosides. Rare ginsenosides were qualitatively analyzed by HPlc-ESI-MS and quantitatively analyzed by HPlc-UV. Anti-allergic effects of the extracts were assessed using the ovalbumin（OVA）-induced allergic asthma model in vivo. An extraction temperature of 145 ℃ and extraction time of 2.0 h were chosen as the optimal conditions. compared with traditional method, the contents of total rare ginsenosides extracted were considerably higher using the new method, that is, 14.74 times that extracted by the traditional method. In our in vivo experiments, treatment with high concentration GE may have anti-allergic erects in decreasing the total amount of IgE in serum and Il-4 in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid（BAlF）, aud in improving the ratio of cD4^＋ to cD8^＋ T cells. The high temperature and high pressure method was an effective method to obtain GE containing more rare ginsenosides, which maybe become anti-allergic agents.

A sediment microbial fuel cell （SMFc） with three dimensional floating biocathode （FBc） was developed for the electricity generation and biodegradation of sediment organic matter in order to avoid negative effect of dissolved oxygen （DO） depletion in aqueous environments on cathode performance and search cost-effective cathode materials. The biocathode was made from graphite granules with microbial attachment to replace platinum （Pt）-coated carbon paper cathode in a laboratory-scale SMFc （3 l in volume） filled with river sediment （organic content 49±4 g. kg^-1 dry weight）. After start-up of 10 days, the maximum power density of 1.00W.m^-3 （based on anode volume） was achieved. The biocathode was better than carbon paper cathode catalyzed by Pt. The attached biofilm on cathode enhanced power generation significantly. The FBc enhanced SMFc performance further in the presence aeration. The SMFc was continuously operated for an over 120-day period. Power generation peaked within 24 days, declined gradually and stabilized at a level of 1/6 peak power output. At the end, the sediment organic matter content near the anode was removed by 29% and the total electricity generated was equal to 0.251 g of chemical oxygen demand （cOD） removed.

Developing new chemically recyclable polymers is important for a circular plastics ***,we prepared a class of 1,4-dithian-2-one(DTO)with thioether and thioester *** sulfur-substituted monomers(DTO)showed excellent reactivity for ring-opening polymerization(turnover frequency(TOF)up to 2.3×10^(4)h^(-1)),which afforded poly(thioetherthioester)s(P(DTO)s)with high air stability,high crystallinity,and commercial high-density polyethylene-like mechanical property(σB=29.59±1.08 MPa andεB=749%±36%).Intriguingly,chemical recycling of P(DTO)to monomer could be accomplished with excellent efficiency in dilute solution(1 min)at room temperature or even from a commodity plastic waste mixture under catalyst-free thermal bulk condition(180°c),thus establishing its circular life cycle.P(Me-DTO)could be applied for selective removal of Hg^(2+)with>99%removal *** importantly,Me-DTO could be recovered in high yield after utilization for Hg^(2+)adsorption.

Dōng líng căo,the dried aboveground parts of Isodon rubescens(Hemls.)Hara.,is commonly consumed as a med-icinal decoction or tea *** beverages can be an important source of human dietary selenium(Se).However,how *** plants respond to exogenous Se remains *** this study,a pot cultivation experiment was employed to investigate the phenotypic and physiological responses of *** plants exposed to *** days after applying different concentrations of sodium selenate to the soil,the Se enrichment capa-city,growth indices,antioxidant capacities,and the content ofﬂavonoids and diterpenoids were measured in the ***,the oridonin content was quantiﬁed using the high-performance liquid chromatography method,and the expression levels of key diterpenoid synthesis genes were analyzed by quantitative real-time PcR(qRT-PcR).*** plants efﬁciently accumulated Se,with the Se content increasing proportionally to the applied dose,reaching levels of nearly 200 mg·kg^(-1) dry leaves as Se concentration *** of the three Se treat-ments signiﬁcantly altered the phenotypic indices,except a longer root length occurred in the 3μM·kg^(-1) Se *** three Se doses,6μM·kg^(-1) Se gave the highest accumulation ofﬂavonoids,diterpenoids,and oridonin,with the increase of 2.0-,1.8-,and 1.9-fold in aboveground parts,*** application boosted the activities of antioxidant enzymes and antioxidant capacities according to 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH),ferric reducing/antioxidant power,and tea brewing color *** key synthase genes were upregulated signiﬁcantly by 6μM·kg^(-1) Se treatment,notably 1-deoxy-D-xylulose 5-phosphate reductoisomerase(IrDXR),with a 5-fold increase,and kaurene synthase-like 4(IrKSl4),with a 6-fold ***,Se application in *** cultivation may be a potential biofortiﬁcation method to supplement Se while increasingﬂavonoid and diterpenoid contents.
