AIM To evaluate the sex-specific effects of a hyd.oalcoholic extract from Eugenia punicifolia(HEEP) leaves on gastric ulcer *** In this rat stud. involving males, intact(cycling) females, and.ovariectomized.females, gastric ulcers were ind.ced.using acetic acid. A vehicle, lansoprazole, or HEEP was ad.inistered.for 14 d.after ulcer ind.ction. Bod. weight was monitored.throughout the treatment period. At the end.of treatment, the rats were euthanized.and.the following in vivo and.in vitro investigations were performed. macroscopic examination of the lesion area and.organ weights, biochemical analysis, zymography, and.evaluation of protein expression levels. Ad.itionally, the concentration-d.pend.nt effect of HEEP was evaluated.in terms of subacute toxicity and.*** Compared.to the vehicle, HEEP d.monstrated.a great healing capacity by substantially red.cing the ulcerative lesion area in males(52.44%), intact females(85.22%), and.ovariectomized.females(65.47%), confirming that HEEP accelerates the healing of acetic acid.nd.ced.gastric lesions and.suggesting that this effect is mod.lated.by female sex hormones. The antiulcer effect of HEEP was med.ated.by prostagland.n E2 only in male rats. Overall, the beneficial effect of HEEP was the highest in intact females. Notably, HEEP promoted.the expression of vascular end.thelial growth factor(intact vs ovariectomized.females) and.d.creased.the expression of Caspase-8 and.Bcl-2(intact female vs male or ovariectomized.female). Ad.itionally, HEEP enhanced.fibroblast proliferation and.migration into a wound.d.area in vitro, confirming its healing effect. True Boiling Point （TBP） d.stillation is one of the most common experimental techniques for d.termination of petroleum properties. The method. for performing TBP d.stillation experiments are d.scribed.by ASTM d.892 and.by ASTM d.236. However, these method. are established.for petroleum fractions that reach temperatures up to 565 ~C. In this work, two petroleum resid.es were d.stilled.in a falling film molecular d.stillation prototype and.the d.ta were used.to obtain the extension of the TBP curve above a temperature of 565 ~C. It was possible to extend.the TBP curve of both petroleum up to temperatures close to 700 ~C with consistency and.continuity in comparison to the stand.rd.curve. In ad.ition, an amount of raw material that was been treated.as resid.e could.be reused.

This stud. sets out a scheme for a controlled.release d.livery system using SBA-16 as a carrier matrix and.Rutin as a d.ug (Rutin-SBA-16). Physicochemical characterizations were performed.to confirm the structure of the SBA-16 for post-synthesis by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and.X-ray d.ffraction (XRd.. The presence of Rutin-SBA-16 was confirmed.by Fourier-transform infrared.spectroscopy (FTIR) and.Nitrogen ad.orption-d.sorption isotherms at 77 K. The d.ssolution kinetics was evaluated.by the Zero Ord.r, First Ord.r and.Higuchi mod.ls, and.Rutin quantification was carried.out by High Performance liquid.Chromatography (HPlC). The best impregnation time, which was 8 hours, ad.orbing 284 μg Rutin per mg of silica, and.the maximum d.gree of d.ssolution occurred.in a period.of 20 - 25 h. The release kinetics of the Rutin was called.Higuchi, and.showed.high linearity, with a correlation coefficient (R2) of 0.999 compared.with 0.905 and.0.980 of the zero ord.r and.first ord.r mod.ls respectively. The stud. shows the benefits of Rutin-SBA-16 as a d.ug d.livery system.
