Immunotherapy for esophageal cancer:Where are we now and where can we go

Immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy has dramatically improved patient prognosis,and thereby transformed the treatment in various cancer types including esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)in the past *** antibodies that selectively inhibit programmed cell death-1(PD-1)activity has now become standard of care in the treatment of ESCC in metastatic settings,and has a high expectation to provide clinical benefit during perioperative ***,anti-cytotoxic t-lymphocyte–associated protein 4(CtlA-4)monoclonal antibody has also been approved in the treatment of recurrent/metastatic ESCC in combination with anti-PD-1 *** understanding of the existing evidence of immune-based treatments for ESCC,as well as recent clinical trials on various combinations with chemotherapy for different clinical settings including neoadjuvant,adjuvant,and metastatic diseases,may provide future prospects of ESCC treatment for better patient outcomes.

leveraging the high resolution,sensitivity,and wide frequency coverage of the Atacama large Millimeter/submillimeter Array(AlMA),the QUARKS survey,standing for“Querying Underlying mechanisms of massive star formation with AlMA-Resolved gas Kinematics and Structures”,is observing 139 massive starforming clumps at AlMA Band 6(λ~1.3 mm).this paper introduces the Atacama Compact Array(ACA)7 m data of the QUARKS survey,describing the ACA observations and data *** multiwavelength data,we provide the first edition of QUARKS atlas,offering insights into the multiscale and multiphase interstellar medium in high-mass star *** ACA 1.3 mm catalog includes 207 continuum sources that are called ACA *** gas kinetic temperatures are estimated using three formaldehyde transitions with a non-ltE radiation transfer model,and the mass and density are derived from a dust emission *** ACA sources are massive(16–84 percentile values of 6–160 M_(⊙)),gravity-dominated(M∝R^(1.1))fragments within massive clumps,with supersonic turbulence(M>1)and embedded star-forming *** find a linear correlation between the masses of the fragments and the massive clumps,with a ratio of 6%between the *** considering fragments as representative of dense gas,the ratio indicates a dense gas fraction(DGF)of 6%,although with a wide scatter ranging from 1%to 10%.If we consider the QUARKS massive clumps to be what is observed at various scales,then the size-independent DGF indicates a self-similar fragmentation or collapsing mode in protocluster *** the ACA data over four orders of magnitude of luminosity-to-mass ratio(l/M),we find that the DGF increases significantly with l/M,which indicates clump evolutionary *** observed a limited fragmentation at the subclump scale,which can be explained by a dynamic global collapse process.

this paper presents a survey of technologies for personal data self-management interfacing with administrative and territorial public service *** classifies a selection of scientific technologies into four categories of solutions:Personal Data Store(PDS),Identity Manager(IdM),Anonymous Certificate System and Access Control Delegation *** category,along with its technological approach,is analyzed thanks to 18 identified functional criteria that encompass architectural and communication aspects,as well as user data lifecycle *** originality of the survey is ***,as far as we know,there is no such thorough survey covering such a panel of a dozen of existing ***,it is the first survey addressing Personally Identifiable Information(PII)management for both administrative and private service ***,this paper achieves a functional comparison of solutions of very different technical *** outcome of this paper is the clear identification of functional gaps of each *** a result,this paper establishes the research directions to follow in order to fill these functional gaps.

A Configuration Deactivation Algorithm for Boosting Probabilistic Roadmap Planning of Robots

We present a method to improve the execution time used to build the roadmap in probabilistic roadmap planners. Our method intelligently deactivates some of the configurations during the learning phase and allows the planner to concentrate on those configurations that axe most likely going to be useful when building the roadmap. the method can be used with many of the existing sampling algorithms. We ran tests with four simulated robot problems typical in robotics literature. the sampling methods applied were purely random, using Halton numbers, Gaussian distribution, and bridge test technique. In our tests, the deactivation method clearly improved the execution times. Compared with pure random selections, the deactivation method also significantly decreased the size of the roadmap, which is a useful property to simplify roadmap planning tasks.

Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)is a common clinical practice to visualize defects and to distinguish different tissue types and pathologies in the human *** far,MRI data have not been used to model and generate a patient-specific design of multilayered tissue substitutes in the case of interfacial *** orthopedic cases that require highly individual surgical treatment,implant fabrication by additive manufacturing holds great ***-based techniques like 3D plot-ting allow the spatially defined application of several materials,as well as implementation of bioprinting *** the example of a typical multi-zonal osteochondral defect in an osteochondritis dissecans(OCD)patient,this study aimed to close the technological gap between MRI analysis and the additive manufacturing process of an implant based on dif-ferent biomaterial inks.A workflow was developed which covers the processing steps of MRI-based defect identification,segmentation,modeling,implant design adjustment,and implant generation.A model implant was fabricated based on two biomaterial inks with clinically relevant properties that would allow for bioprinting,the direct embedding of a patient’s own cells in the printing *** demonstrated by the geometric compatibility of the designed and fabricated model implant in a stereolithography(SlA)model of lesioned femoral condyles,a novel versatile CAD/CAM workflow was successfully established that opens up new perspectives for the treatment of multi-zonal(osteochondral)defects.

Noninvasive techniques,surface electromyography(sEMG)in particular,are being increasingly employed for assessing muscle *** these studies,local oxygen consumption and muscle metabolism are of great *** can be performed noninvasively using optics-based methods such as near-infrared spectroscopy(NIRS).By combining energy con-sumption data provided by NIRS with muscle level activation data from sEMG,we may gain an insight into the metabolic and functional characteristics of muscle ***,muscle mo-tion may induce artifacts into EMG and ***,the inclusion of simultaneous motion measurements using accelerometers(ACMs)enhances possibilities to perceive the effects of motion on NIRS and EMG *** paper reviews the current state of noninvasive EMG and NIRS-based methods used to study muscle *** addition,we built a combined sEMG/NIRS/ACM sensor to perform simultaneous measurements for static and dynamic exercises of a biceps brachii ***,we discuss the effect of muscle motion in response of NIRS and EMG when measured *** on our preliminary studies,both NIRS and EMG supply specific information on muscle activation,but their signal responses also showed similarities with acceleration signals which,in this case,were supposed to be solely sensitive to motions.

We have isolated a recessive rice mutant, designated as indeterminate growth （ing）, which displays creeping and apparent heterochronic phenotypes in the vegetative period with lanky and winding culms. Rough mapping and subsequent molecular characterization revealed that the ing mutant carries a large deletion, which corresponds to a 103 kb region in the Nipponbare genome, containing nine annotated genes on chromosome 3. Of these annotated genes, the SlR1 gene encoding a DEllA protein is the only one that is well characterized in its function, and its null mutation, which is caused by a single base deletion in the middle of the intronless SlR1 gene, confers a slender phenotype that bears close resemblance to the ing mutant phenotype. the primary cause of the ing mutant phenotype is the deletion of the SlR1 gene, and the ing mutant appears to be the first characterized mutant having the entire SlR1 sequence deleted. Our results also suggest that the deleted region of 103 kb does not contain an indispensable gene, whose dysfunction must result in a lethal phenotype.
