Information schema constructs for defining warehouse databases of genotypes and phenotypes of system manifestation features

Our long-term objective is to develop a software toolbox for pre-embodiment design of complex and heterogeneous systems, such as cyber-physical systems. the novelty of this toolbox is that it uses system manifestation features(SMFs) for transdisciplinary modeling of these systems. the main challenges of implementation of the toolbox are functional design- and language-independent computational realization of the warehouses, and systematic development and management of the various evolving implements of SMFs(genotypes, phenotypes, and instances). therefore, an information schema construct(ISC) based approach is proposed to create the schemata of the associated warehouse databases and the above-mentioned SMF implements. ISCs logically arrange the data contents of SMFs in a set of relational tables of varying semantics. In this article we present the ISCs necessary for creation of genotypes and phenotypes. they increase the efficiency of the database development process and make the data relationships transparent. Our follow-up research focuses on the elaboration of the SMF instances based system modeling methodology.

Background: the World Health Organization (WHO) has set a goal to eradicate or at least significantly reduce the prevalence the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis B Virus (HBV) and Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) by 2030. the main objective was to provide an evolving overview of the prevalence of HIV, HBV and HCV infection between 2003 and 2022 in Burkina Faso. Methods: It was a retrospective cross-sectional study based on data from 2003 to 2022. the data were collected using information available in the databases of the HOSCO and CERBA laboratories and included all individuals who underwent HIV and/or HBV and/or HCV testing. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 20.0, EpiInfo 7, and R version 4.1.0. Results were considered statistically significant if p Results: the study recorded 7432 samples and the mean age of the subjects was 27.98 ± 8.50 years. During this period, the respective prevalence of HIV, HBV, and HCV were 4.66% (346/7432), 8.77% (582/6636) and 5.54% (322/5816). However, from 2003 to 2022, there was a significant decrease (P y=−1.75x+12.59;y=−0.24x+10.01and y=−0.11x+6.02, with “y” corresponding to prevalence and “x” to the years. Conclusion: Burkina Faso needs to rigorously apply prevention and control strategies recommended by the WHO by 2030.

Ankle-Foot Continuous Passive Motion Device for Mobilization of Acute Stroke Patients

Purpose: to develop a continuous passive motion (CPM) device for the passive motion of the paretic ankle-foot and investigate the effect of continuous passive motion of bedridden, hemiparetic acute stroke patients. Methods: 49 patients with stroke were investigated. Results in stroke patients (device group) were compared with those of 15 control subjects (manual group) also with stroke but not treated by device. the period of the treatment was 7 days;the duration was 30 minutes per day by CPM device in the device group. the efficacy of the device was evaluated by scales used in the clinical routine (6th item of National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS), modified Rankin Scale (mRS)). Ankle’s passive range of motion (PROM) and flexible equinovalgus deformitiy were measured every day with a goniometer. Results: 6th item of NIHSS score improved by -0.76 (SD = 0.56) points in the device group (p to the baseline values;the mean change in the manual group was -0.33 (SD = 0.62) points (p = 0.055). the mean of MAS decreased significantly by -0.53 (SD = 1.12) point in the device group (p the ankle’s mean plantar flexion PROM increased by 3.41 (SD = 5.19) degrees in the device group (p t improvement of the mean dorsiflexion in the PROM of the ankle was also detected (p = 0.019). the equinovalgus improved significantly by -5.12 (SD = 8.02) degrees (p the device group. the scores of the mRS also improved significantly in the device group (p lusion: In the early phase of rehabilitation, ankle-foot continuous passive motion device treatment combined with manual therapy improved the ankle’s PROM better than manual therapy alone;in addition, device treatment decreased the foot’s equinovalgus, improved the 6th item NIHSS score, and decreased the severity of spasticity.

In this paper we propose a method to construct probability measures on the space of convex bodies. For this purpose, first, we introduce the notion of thinness of a body. then we show the existence of a measure with the property that its pushforward by the thinness function is a probability measure of truncated normal distribution. Finally, we improve this method to find a measure satisfying some important properties in geometric measure theory.

Monitoring spatiotemporal soil moisture changes in the subsurface of forest sites using electrical resistivity tomography (ERt)

the effects of drought on tree mortality at forest stands are not completely understood. For assessing their water supply, knowledge of the small-scale distribution of soil moisture as well as its temporal changes is a key issue in an era of climate change. However, traditional methods like taking soil samples or installing data loggers solely collect parameters of a single point or of a small soil volume. Electrical resistivity tomography (ERt) is a suitable method for monitoring soil moisture changes and has rarely been used in forests. this method was applied at two forest sites in Bavaria, Germany to obtain high-resolution data of temporal soil moisture variations. Geoelectrical measurements (2D and 3D) were conducted at both sites over several years (2015-2018/2020) and compared with soil moisture data (matric potential or volumetric water content) for the monitoring plots. the greatest variations in resistivity values that highly correlate with soil moisture data were found in the main rooting zone. Using the ERt data, temporal trends could be tracked in several dimensions, such as the interannual increase in the depth of influence from drought events and their duration, as well as rising resistivity values going along with decreasing soil moisture. the results reveal that resistivity changes are a good proxy for seasonal and interannual soil moisture variations. therefore, 2D- and 3D-ERt are recommended as comparatively non-laborious methods for small-spatial scale monitoring of soil moisture changes in the main rooting zone and the underlying subsurface of forested sites. Higher spatial and temporal resolution allows a better understanding of the water supply for trees, especially in times of drought.
