We propose a method that automatically generates discrete bicubic G^1 continuous B-spline surfaces that interpolate the curve network of a ship ***,the curves in the network are classified into two types;boundary curves and ＂reference curves＂,The boundary curves correspond to a set of rectangular（or triangular）topological type that can be representes with tensot-product （or degenerate）B-spline surface ***,in the interior of the patches,surface fitting points and cross boundary derivatives are estimated from the reference curves by constructing ＂virtual＂isoparametric ***,a discrete G^1 continuous B-spline surface is gencrated by a surface fitting *** smooth ship hullform surfaces generated from curve networks corresponding to actual ship hullforms demonstrate the quality of the method.

The simulation field became essential in designing or developing new casting products and in improving manufacturing processes within limited time, because it can help us to simulate the nature of processing, so that developers can make ideal casting designs. To take the prior occupation at commercial simulation market, so many development groups in the world are doing their every effort. They already reported successful stories in manufacturing fields by developing and providing the high performance simulation technologies for multipurpose. But they all run at powerful desk-side computers by well-trained experts mainly, so that it is hard to diffuse the scientific designing concept to newcomers in casting field. To overcome upcoming problems in scientific casting designs, we utilized information technologies and full-matured hardware backbones to spread out the effective and scientific casting design mind, and they all were integrated into Simulation Portal on the web. It professes scientific casting design on the NET including ubiquitous access way represented by ＂Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere＂ concept for casting designs.

Friction and wear of the sliding components in an automobile cause an increase in both fuel consumption and *** engine components involved with sliding contact are all susceptible to scuffing failure at some points during their operating ***,it is important to evaluate the effects of various surface coatings on the tribological characteristics of the piston ring and cylinder block surface of a diesel *** and scuffing tests were conducted using a friction and wear measurement of the piston ring and cylinder block in a low friction diesel *** frictional forces,wear amounts and cycles to scuffing in the boundary lubricated sliding condition were measured using the reciprocating wear *** tester used a piece of the cylinder block as the reciprocating specimen and a segment of the piston ring material as the fixed *** coatings on the ring specimen were used,such as DLC,TiN,Cr-ceramic and TiAlN,in order to improve the tribological characteristics of the *** coefficients of friction were monitored during the tests,and the wear volumes of the piston ring surfaces with various coatings were *** results show that the DLC coating exhibits better tribological properties than the other *** graphite structure of this coating is responsible for the low friction and wear of the DLC *** TiN and DLC coatings show better scuffing resistance than the other *** TiN and Cr-ceramic coated rings show good wear resistance and high friction.

A new putative transposon was identified in the tobacco budworm, Helio- this virescens. This transposon was characterized as a full length CORE-SINE （65 bp of ＂CORE＂ core specific nucleotide short interspersed elements） that resembled sequences from three other lepidopterans and humans. In particular, the A-box and B-box regions of this sequence most closely conformed to the signature of CORE-SINEs from widely divergent species. This CORE-SINE was present as a polymorphism in a hypervariable region of the gene hscp, which is the target of pyrethroid insecticides and other xenobiotics in the nerve axon. We described this new putative transposon as Noct-1 due to its presence in a noctuid moth. This is the first description of a full-length CORE-SINE with the A-box, B-box, target site duplication, and candidate core domain from an insect.

BACKGROUND： Many studies have suggested that one possible etiology of mild cognitive impairment is small vessel cerebrovascular disease, which is associated with small subcortical infarcts and white matter abnormalities. These white matter changes have been detected as white matter hyperintensity （WMH） using magnetic resonance imaging. WMH may be associated with frontal lobe dysfunction. OBJECTIVE： To examine white matter changes in mild cognitive impairment patients of different subtypes, and to evaluate the correlation between white matter changes and neuropsychological characteristics, demographic information, vascular risk factors, and mild cognitive impairment subtypes. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： The neurophysiological, comparison study was performed at the Department of Neurology Memory Clinic, Ulsan University Hospital, South Korea, between March 2007 and March 2008. PARTICIPANTS： Out of a total of 83 subjects with clinically diagnosed mild cognitive impairment at the out-patient clinic, 3 subjects with severe WMH were excluded. A total of 80 subjects were included in this study. No patients suffered from cognitive impairment induced by neurological diseases, mental disorders, or somatic diseases. In accordance with magnetic resonance imaging results, the patients were assigned to two subtypes： 56 subjects without WMH and 24 subjects with WMH. METHODS： All patients were subjected to a standard neuropsychological battery using the Korean version of the Mini-Mental State Examination, Clinical Dementia Rating, and comprehensive Seoul Neuropsychological Screening Battery. The Clinical Dementia Rating reflected general cognitive function of patients. Results from the Seoul Neuropsychological Screening Battery reflected attention, language function, visuospatial function, verbal memory, nonverbal memory, long-term memory, and frontal/executive function. A spectral reflectance sensor(SRS)fixed on the near-surface ground was developed to support the continuous monitoring of vegetation indices such as the normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI)and photochemical reflectance index(PRI).NDVI is useful for indicating crop growth/phenology,whereas PRI was developed for observing physiological ***,the seasonal change patterns of NDVI and PRI are two valuable pieces of information in a crop-monitoring ***,capturing the seasonal patterns is considered challenging because the vegetation index values estimated by the reflection from vegetation are often governed by meteorological conditions,such as solar irradiance and ***,unlike growth/phenology,the physiological condition has diurnal changes as well as seasonal *** study proposed a novel filtering method for extracting the seasonal signals of SRS-based NDVI and PRI in paddy rice,barley,and ***,the measurement accuracy of SRSs was compared with handheld spectrometers,and the R^(2)values between the two devices were 0.96 and 0.81 for NDVI and PRI,***,the experimental study of threshold criteria with respect to meteorological variables(i.e.,insolation,cloudiness,sunshine duration,and precipitation)was conducted,and sunshine duration was the most useful one for excluding distorted values of the vegetation *** data processing based on sunshine duration,the R^(2)values between the measured vegetation indices and the extracted seasonal signals of vegetation indices increased by approximately 0.002–0.004(NDVI)and 0.065–0.298(PRI)on the three crops,and the seasonal signals of vegetation indices became noticeably *** method will contribute to an agricultural monitoring system by identifying the seasonal changes in crop growth and physiological conditions.

A Lane-Level Road Marking Map Using a Monocular Camera

The essential requirement for precise localization of a self-driving car is a lane-level map which includes road markings(RMs).Obviously,we can build the lane-level map by running a mobile mapping system(MMS)which is equipped with a high-end 3D LiDAR and a number of high-cost *** approach,however,is highly expensive and ineffective since a single high-end MMS must visit every place for *** this paper,a lane-level RM mapping system using a monocular camera is *** developed system can be considered as an alternative to expensive high-end *** developed RM map includes the information of road lanes(RLs)and symbolic road markings(SRMs).First,to build a lane-level RM map,the RMs are segmented at pixel level through the deep learning *** network is named *** segmented RMs are then gathered to build a lane-level RM ***,the lane-level map is improved through loop-closure detection and graph *** train the RMNet and build a lane-level RM map,a new dataset named SeRM set is *** set is a large dataset for lane-level RM mapping and it includes a total of 25157 pixel-wise annotated images and 21000 position labeled ***,the proposed lane-level map building method is applied to SeRM set and its validity is demonstrated through experimentation.
