Galvanic replacement reactions have been wid.ly used.to transform solution d.spersed.silver template structures into intricate nanoshell geometries. Here, we report on the use of these same reactions to form hollow substrate-supported.Au-Ag nanoshells from silver templates having a heteroepitaxial relationship with the und.rlying single crystal substrate. The structures obtained.exhibit a nanohut geometry, show highly tunable plasmonic properties and.are formed.as period.c arrays using a lithography-free technique. When removed.from the substrate the inverted.nanohuts appear as nanobowls with a notch in the rim. The stud. lays the ground.ork for wafer-based.d.vices utilizing nanoshells located.at site-specific locations.

Background.Physiological and.biochemical processes across tissues of the bod. are regulated.in response to the high d.mand. of intense physical activity in several occupations,such as firefighting,law enforcement,military,and.sports.A better und.rstand.ng of such processes can ultimately help improve human performance and.prevent illnesses in the work ***:To stud. regulatory processes in intense physical activity simulating real-life cond.tions,we performed.a multi-omics analysis of 3 biofluid.(blood.plasma,urine,and.saliva)collected.from 11 wild.and.firefighters before and.after a 45 min,intense exercise *** profiles ***-exercise were compared.by Stud.nt’s t-test followed.by pathway analysis and.comparison between the d.fferent omics ***:Our multi-omics analysis id.ntified.and.quantified.3835 proteins,730 lipid. and.182 metabolites combining the 3 d.fferent types of *** blood.plasma analysis revealed.signatures of tissue d.mage and.acute repair response accompanied.by enhanced.carbon metabolism to meet energy *** urine analysis showed.a strong,concomitant regulation of 6 out of 8 id.ntified.proteins from the renin-angiotensin system supporting increased.excretion of catabolites,reabsorption of nutrients and.maintenance of fluid.*** saliva,we observed.a d.crease in 3 pro-inflammatory cytokines and.an increase in 8 antimicrobial peptid.s.A systematic literature review id.ntified.6 papers that support an altered.susceptibility to respiratory ***:This stud. shows simultaneous regulatory signatures in biofluid. ind.cative of homeostatic maintenance d.ring intense physical activity with possible effects on increased.infection susceptibility,suggesting that caution against respiratory d.seases could.benefit workers on highly physical d.mand.ng jobs.

We present d.tailed.characterization of laser-d.iven fusion and.neutron prod.ction(-10^(5)/second. using 8 mJ, 40 fs laser pulses on a thin(d.2O liquid.sheet employing a measurement suite. At relativistic intensity(~ 5 × 10^(18)W/cm^(2))and.high repetition rate(1 kHz), the system prod.ces d.uterium±d.uterium(d.d. fusion, allowing for consistent neutron generation. Evid.nce of d.d.fusion neutron prod.ction is verified.by a measurement suite with three ind.pend.nt d.tection systems: an EJ-309 organic scintillator with pulse-shape d.scrimination, a ~3He proportional counter and.a set of 36 bubble d.tectors. Time-of-flight analysis of the scintillator d.ta shows the energy of the prod.ced.neutrons to be consistent with 2.45 MeV. Particle-in-cell simulations using the WarpX cod. support significant neutron prod.ction from d.d.fusion events in the laser±target interaction region. This high-repetition-rate laser-d.iven neutron source could.provid. a low-cost, on-d.mand.test bed.for rad.ation hard.ning and.imaging applications.

Introd.ction:Western climate science and.Trad.tional Ecological Knowled.e(TEK)represent complementary and.overlapping views of the causes and.consequences of *** particular,observations of changes in abund.nce,d.stribution,phenology,or behavior of the natural environment(includ.ng plants and.animals)can have a rich cultural and.spiritual interpretation in Ind.genous communities that may not be present in western science ***:Using interviews with Ind.genous eld.rs and.other Trad.tional Knowled.e hold.rs,we d.monstrate that assumptions about the nature,perception,and.utilization of time and.timing can d.ffer across knowled.e systems in regard.to climate ***:Our interviewees’focus on relationality pred.sposes them to notice interactional changes among humans and.other species,to be sensitive to smaller scale examples of change,to be more likely to see climate change as part of a broad.r time scale,and.to link changes to a greater suite of socio-political phenomena,includ.ng the long arc of *** implication of this research and.the interactions among humans and.other species is that policies restricting Native and.non-Native access to resources(i.e.,hunting and.fishing)to certain calend.r seasons may need.to be revisited.in a changing climate.
