Compensating the impurities on the Cu surface by MOFs for enhanced hydrocarbon production in the electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide

Copper(Cu)provides a cost-effective means of producing value-added fuels through the electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide(CO_(2)RR).however,we observed the production of hydrocarbons via CO_(2)RR on commercial Cu films is less efficient because of the surface impurities,i.e.,*** monoxide(CO),a reaction intermediate of CO_(2)RR to hydrocarbons,binds strongly to the Fe sites and interrupts the production of hydrocarbons,resulting in an active hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).Herein,we report a method of blocking the effect of Fe impurities on the Cu surface through the preferential growth of nano-sized metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)on Fe *** zirconium(Zr)-based MOFs(UiO-66)forms a compensating layer on Cu film via the terephthalic acid(TPA)-Fe coordination bond,the Ui O-66 coated Cu film(UiO-66@Cu)presents significantly improved hydrocarbon Faradaic efficiency(FE)of 37.59%compared to 14.68%FE on commercial Cu film(99.9%purity)by suppressing *** to X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)analysis,the UiO-66 ligand binds to entire metallic Fe site on the Cu surface,while metallic Cu is ***,UiO-66@Cu provides active sites of Cu for CO_(2)RR and leads to highly efficient and selective production of hydrocarbons.

Microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of Ti-B-N coatings deposited by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition

Ternary Ti-B-N coatings were synthesized on AISI 304 and Si wafer by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) technique using a gaseous mixture of TiCl4,BCl3,H2,N2,and *** virtue of X-ray diffraction analysis,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,scanning electron microscope,and high-resolution transmission electron microscope,the influences of B content on the microstructure and properties of Ti B N coatings were investigated *** results indicated that the microstructure and mechanical properties of Ti-B-N coatings largely depend on the transformation from FCC-TiN phase to HCP-TiB2 *** increasing B content and decreasing N content in the coatings,the coating microstructure evolves gradually from FCC-TiN/a-BN to HCP-TiB2 /a-BN via FCC-TiN+HCP-TiB2/*** highest microhardness of about 34 GPa is achieved,which corresponds to the nanocomposite Ti-63%B-N (mole fraction) coating consisting of the HCP-TiB2 nano-crystallites and amorphous BN *** lowest friction-coefficient was observed for the nanocomposite Ti-41%B-N (mole fraction) coating consisting of the FCC-TiN nanocrystallites and amorphous BN

Plasma Post Oxidation of Plasma Nitrocarburized SKD 61 Steel

Plasma nitrocarburizing and plasma oxidizing treatments were performed to improve the wear and corrosion resistance of SKD 61 *** nitrocarburizing was conducted for 12 h at 540℃in the nitrogen, hydrogen and methane atmosphere to produce theε-Fe-（2-3）（N,C） *** compound layer produced by plasma nitrocarburising was predominantly composed ofε-phase,with a small proportion ofγ′-Fe-4 （N,C） phase. The thickness of the compound layer and the diffusion layer are about 10μm and about 200μm,respectively. Plasma post oxidation was performed on the nitrocarburized samples with various oxygen/hydrogen ratio at constant temperature of 500℃for 1 *** very thin magnetite （Fe-3O-4） layer of 1-2μm in thickness on top of the compound layer was *** polarization test revealed that plasma nitrocarburizing process contributed a significant improvement of corrosion resistance of SKD 61 ***,the corrosion characteristics of the nitrocarburized compound layer was deteriorated by oxidation treatment.

Finger compartment syndrome due to a high-pressure washer injury:A case report

Sandwich-type ordered mesoporous carbon/graphene nanocomposites derived from ionic liquid

Sandwich-type ordered mesoporous carbon/graphene nanocomposites were successfully synthesized using 2D ordered mesoporous silica/graphene nanocomposites as the hard template and an ionic liquid as a N-rich carbon source. We used an ionic liquid of 1-(3-cyanopropyl)-3-methylimidazolium dicyanamide containing nitrile groups (–CN) in the cation and anion as a carbon precursor for the preparation of the nanocomposites. Nitriles do not decompose under thermal treatment in an inert gas atmosphere, but leave significant amounts of N-rich carbon materials. The nanocomposites had a large surface area (1,316 m2·g–1), an average pore diameter of 5.9 nm, and high electrical conductivity. The nanocomposite electrode showed a high specific capacitance of 190 F·g–1at 0.5 A·g–1in 1 M TEABF4/AN electrolyte and a good rate capability between 0 and 2.7 V for supercapacitor (or ultracapacitor) applications. Development of a skill assessment tool for the Korea operational oceanographic system

A standard skill assessment （SA） tool was developed and implemented to evaluate the performance of op- erational forecast models in the Korea operational oceanographic system. The SA tool provided a robust way to assess model skill in the system by comparing predictions and observations, and involved the com- putation of multiple skill metrics including correlation and error skills. User- and system-based acceptance criteria of skill metrics were applied to determine whether predictions were acceptable for the system. To achieve this, the tool produced a time series comparison plot, a skill score table, and an advanced sum- marized diagram to effectively demonstrate the multiple skill scores. Moreover, the SA was conducted to evaluate both atmospheric and hydrodynamic forecast variables. For the atmospheric variables, acceptable error criteria were preferable to acceptable correlation criteria over short timescales, since the mean square error overwhelmed the observation variance. Conversely, for the hydrodynamic variables, acceptable root mean square percentage error （e.g., perms） criteria were preferable to acceptable error （e.g., erms） criteria owing to the spatially variable tidal intensity around the Korean Peninsula. Furthermore, the SA indicated that predetermined acceptance error criteria were appropriate to satisfy a target central frequency （fc） for which errors fell within the specified limits （i.e., the .fc equals 70%）.
