Objective: Precision medicine approaches emphasize the importance of reliable prognostic tools for guiding individualized therapy decisions. In this study, we evaluated the clinical feasibility of the single patient classifier(SPC) test, a new clinical-grade prognostic assay, in stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ gastric cancer ***: A prospective multicenter study was conducted, involving 237 patients who underwent gastrectomy between September 2019 and August 2020 across nine hospitals. The SPC test was employed to stratify patients into risk groups, and its feasibility and performance were evaluated. The primary endpoint was the proportion of the cases in which the test results were timely delivered before selecting postoperative treatment. Furthermore, 3-year disease-free survivals of risk groups were ***: The SPC test met the primary endpoint criteria. The 99.5% of SPC tests were timely delivered to hospitals before the postoperative treatment started. In a clinical setting, the median time from the specimen transfer to laboratory to the result delivery to hospital was 4 d. Furthermore, 3-year disease-free survivals were significantly different between risk groups classified with SPC ***: This study highlights the SPC test's feasibility in offering crucial information timely delivered for making informed decisions regarding postoperative treatment strategies. It also provides evidence to support the implementation of a future prospective clinical trial aimed at evaluating the clinical utility of the SPC test in guiding personalized treatment decisions for gastric cancer patients.

A biosynthetic gene cluster for the bioactive fungal sesterterpenoids variecolin(1)and variecolactone(2)was identified in Aspergillus aculeatus ATCC *** production of 1 and 2 was achieved in Aspergillus oryzae by expressing the sesterterpene synthase VrcA and the cytochrome P450 ***,the replacement of VrcB with homologous P450s from other fungal terpenoid pathways yielded three new variecolin analogues(5-7).Analysis of the compounds’anticancer activity in vitro and in vivo revealed that although 5 and 1 had comparable activities,5 was associated with significantly reduced toxic side effects in cancer-bearing mice,indicating its potentially broader therapeutic *** study describes the first tests of variecolin and its analogues in animals and demonstrates the utility of synthetic biology for creating molecules with improved biological activities.

Hepatocellular carcinoma in Budd-Chiari syndrome:A single center experience with long-term follow-up in South Korea

AIM:To evaluate long-term clinical course of BuddChiari syndrome(BCS) and predictive factors associated with the development of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and ***:We analyzed 67 patients with BCS between June 1988 and May *** diagnosis of BCS was confirmed by hepatic venous outflow obstruction shown on abdominal ultrasound sonography,computed tomography,magnetic resonance imaging,or *** median follow-up period was 103 ± 156 [interquartile range(IQR)] ***:The median age of the patients was 47 ± 16(IQR) *** diagnosis,54 patients had cirrhosis,25(37.3%) Child-Pugh class A,23(34.3%) Child-Pugh class B,and six(9.0%) patients Child-Pugh class *** the follow-up period,HCC was developed in 17 patients,and the annual incidence of HCC in patients with BCS was 2.8%.Patients in HCC group(n = 17) had higher hepatic venous pressure gradient(HVPG) than those in non-HCC group(n = 50)(21 ± 12 mmHg vs 14 ± 7 mmHg,P = 0.019).The survival rate of BCS patients was 86.2% for 5 years,73.8% for 10 years,and 61.2% for 15 *** patients with BCS and HCC,survival was 79% for 5 years,43.1% for 10 years,and 21.5% for 15 ***:The incidence of HCC in patients with BCS was similar to that in patients with other etiologic cirrhosis in South *** HVPG is expected to provide additional information for predicting HCC development in BCS patients.

The IOSS Chaos Synchronization Method

A new synchronization method, called the input/output-to-state stable synchronization (IOSSS) method, is proposed for a general class of chaotic systems with external disturbance. By introducing Lyapunov stability theory and linear matrix inequality (LMI) for the first time, the IOSSS controller is shown to not only guarantee the synchronization of the chaotic systems, but also reduce the effect of external disturbance. The proposed IOSSS controller can be obtained by solving the LMI, which can easily be done using standard numerical packages. A numerical example is given to demonstrate the availability of the proposed method.

Architecture for mobile group communication in campus environment

The demand for group communication using smart devices in campus environment is increasing rapidly. In this paper, we design an architecture for a mobile group communication system （MGCS） on campus by using Wi-Fi networks and smart devices. The architecture is composed of a web-based system and a smart device based mobile system. Through the systems, users on campus create community/mobile group, maintain dynamic group membership, and reliably deliver the message to other users. We use the common features of many smart devices to develop a prototype that works on off-the-shelf hardware. In the experimental section, we demonstrate our system using various real scenarios which can occur in university campuses.

Regression tree ensemble learning-based prediction of the heating and cooling loads of residential buildings

Building energy consumption is heavily dependent on its heating load(HL)and cooling load(CL).Therefore,an efficient building demand forecast is critical for ensuring energy savings and improving the operating efficacy of the heating,ventilation,and air conditioning(HVAC)*** and specialized energy-efficient building modeling technologies may offer a fair estimate of the influence of different construction ***,deploying these tools could be time-consuming and complex for the ***,in this article,an ensemble model based on decision trees and the least square-boosting(LS-boosting)algorithm known as the regression tree ensemble(RTE)is proposed for the accurate prediction of HL and *** hyper parameters of the RTE are optimized by shuffled frog leaping optimization(SFLA),which leads to *** regression(STR)and Gaussian process regression(GPR)based on different kernel functions are also designed for comparison *** demonstrate that the value of root mean squared error is reduced by 37%–68%and 30%–41%for HL and CL of residential buildings,respectively,by the proposed SRTE in comparison to other ***,the findings from the real dataset support the proposed model’s effectiveness in predicting HVAC energy *** can be concluded that the proposed SRTE is more effective and accurate than other methods for predicting the energy consumption of HVAC systems.

L_2-L_∞ learning of dynamic neural networks

This paper proposes an y2-y∞ learning law as a new learning method for dynamic neural networks with external disturbance. Based on linear matrix inequality （LMI） formulation, the y2-y∞ learning law is presented to not only guarantee asymptotical stability of dynamic neural networks but also reduce the effect of external disturbance to an y2-y∞ induced norm constraint. It is shown that the design of the y2-y∞ learning law for such neural networks can be achieved by solving LMIs, which can be easily facilitated by using some standard numerical packages. A numerical example is presented to demonstrate the validity of the proposed learning law.

Catalytic dehydrogenation of formic acid over palladium nanoparticles immobilized on fibrous mesoporous silica KCC-1

Uniform Pd nanoparticles immobilized on N-(3-trimethoxysilylpropyl)diethylenetriamine (PDETA)-functionalized fibrous silica KCC-1 (Pd/KCC-1-PDETA) were prepared with a mean Pd particle size of 2.8 nm. After characterization using powder X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms, Pd/KCC-1-PDETA was used as catalyst for additive-free dehydrogenation of formic acid to produce H2. Pd nanoparticle catalysts supported on two other mesoporous silica materials (MSF and KIT-6) were also synthesized to examine how the support affects the reaction. Among the three catalysts, Pd/KCC-1-PDETA exhibited significant catalytic activity (a turnover frequency of 332 h?1 at 323 K and 100% selectivity towards hydrogen), owing to the unique fibrous morphology of KCC-1 and the presence of amine groups that reduced the Pd particle size and improved the access of reactant to the catalytically active Pd sites. The influence of Pd loading (2–10 wt.%), reaction temperature, and reaction time was also examined for the dehydrogenation reaction. Pd/KCC-1-PDETA was recovered easily after the reaction and showed good reusability up to five times without any significant loss in catalytic performance.

Item Response Theory Based Ensemble in Machine Learning
