The auditory brainstem implant(ABI)was originally developed to provide rehabilitation of retrocochlear deafness caused by neurofibromatosis type 2(NF2).recent studies of the ABI have investigated outcomes in non-NF2 cohorts,such as patients with cochlear nerve aplasia or cochlear ossification and more recently,intractable *** technologies that improve the ABI-neural tissue interface are being explored as means to improve performance and decrease side *** discoveries in optogenetics and bioengineering present opportunities to continually evolve this technology into the future,enhancing spatial selectivity of neuronal activation in the cochlear nucleus and preventing side effects through reduction in activation of non-target neuronal *** advances will improve surgical planning and ultimately improve patients1 audiological *** research has rapidly increased in the 21st century and applications of this technology are likely to continually ***,we aim to characterize ongoing clinical,basic science,and bioengineering advances in ABIs and discuss future directions of this technology.

In the present research,cardanol based di-acrylic UV oligomer was synthesized by thiol-ene coupling followed by ring opening reaction with glycidyl *** intermediate as well as final diacrylate materials were analyzed by chemical as well as spectroscopic ***,ultraviolet(UV)radiation curable formulations were prepared by replacing commercial epoxy acrylate with synthesized UV oligomer in 10-50 wt%and applied on wood *** coated films were then evaluated for their optical,mechanical,chemical and thermal *** showed that up to 30 wt%amount of UVoligomer the coatings exhibited at par mechanical and chemical *** stain resistance of all the coatings was observed to be excellent.

The research work presented in this article deals with the synthesis of cardanol-based polyol and its curing with hexabutoxymethyl melamine(HBMM)for application in ***-based polyol was prepared via thiol-ene click reaction using *** present in the long chain of cardanol was successfully utilized to synthesize polyol via thiol-ene *** reaction was carried out between cardanol and thioglycerol in the presence of Irgacure 184(photoinitiator)and 1,8-Diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene(catalyst)under UV light for 12 h at 80°*** completion of the reaction,one mole of thioglycerol was successfully added across the double bond of a fatty chain of cardanol and confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIr)and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and hydroxyl and iodine values were ***,the polyol thus prepared was cured with commercial HBMM in various proportions,such as 1:0.6,1:0.8 and 1:1,on an equivalent *** coatings were then characterized for mechanical,chemical,optical,thermal and anticorrosive *** was observed that coatings exhibited excellent performance properties as compared to that of its acrylic counterpart.

Guggal, a threatened species that is endemic to western India, is tapped to extract medicinally important oleo-gum-resin （guggul）. However, the plant dies after gum exudation. The indigenous tapping techniques used by local people were examined in Gujarat, India to dis-cover the scientific basis behind these techniques： selection of gum in-ducer, season of tapping, and plant parts to be tapped. First, the presence of Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. commiphorae （Xac） in the gum suspen-sion used for tapping was established. This bacterium induces gum ooz-ing from the tapped plants and later, causes them to die off. The popula-tion of Xac in gum was found to decrease with the age of the gum. With that, fresh gum increased the tapping success. Second, local people pre-ferred tapping during the warm season, which we validated by determin-ing that Xac growth was best at 30 ＆#176;C. Tapping during September （mean temperature 25.7-30.0 ＆#176;C） clearly favoured growth of the pathogen and yielded maximum guggul. Multiple tapping on a mature tree ensured maximum gum extraction before its death. Finally, application of in-digenous technology under natural plant stands by the local people en-sured availability of this important raw drug for consumption. Our study established that the age-old traditional methods have a strong scientific basis. However, it is imperative to formulate strategies based on con-temporary scientific understanding to protect this natural resource before it becomes extinct.

A number of optical sensing tools are now available and can potentially be used for refining need-based fertilizer nitrogen(N)topdressing *** for estimating field-specific fertilizer N needs are based on predictions of yield made while the crops are still growing in the *** present study was conducted to establish and validate yield prediction models using spectral indices measured with proximal sensing using GreenSeeker canopy reflectance sensor,soil and plant analyzer development(SPAD)chlorophyll meter,and two different types of leaf color charts(LCCs)for five basmati rice genotypes across different growth *** analysis was performed using normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI)recorded with GreenSeeker sensor and leaf greenness indices measured with SPAD meter and LCCs developed by Punjab Agricultural University,Ludhiana(India)(PAU-LCC)and the International rice research Institute,Philippines(IrrI-LCC).The exponential relationship between NDVI and grain yield exhibited the highest coefficient of determination(r^(2))and minimum normalized root mean square error(NrMSE)at panicle initiation stage and explained 38.3%–76.4%variation in yield using genotype-specific *** indices pooled for different genotypes were closely related to grain yield at all growth stages and explained53.4%–57.2%variation in grain *** different spectral indices with cumulative growing degree days(CGDD)decreased the accuracy of yield *** with days after transplanting(DAT),however,did not reduce or improve the predictability of *** ability of each model to predict grain yield was validated with an independent dataset collected from two experiments conducted at different sites with a range of fertilizer N *** NDVI-based genotype-specific models exhibited a robust linear correlation(r^(2)=0.77,NrMSE=7.37%,n=180)between observed and predicted grain yields only at 35 DAT(i.e.,panicle initiation stage)

Drug induced liver injury is responsible for 50% of acute liver failure in developed countries. Ayurvedic and homeopathic medicine have been linked to liver injury. This case describes the first documented case of Punarnava mandur and Kanchnar guggulu causing drug induced liver injury. Drug induced liver injury may be difficult to diagnosis, but use of multi-modalities tools including the ACG algorithms, causative assessment scales, histological findings, and imaging, is recommended. Advanced imaging, such as magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography, may possibly have a greater role than previously reported in literature.
