Targets capture by distributed active swarms via bio-inspired reinforcement learning

Natural swarms arranged from cells to herds are usually decentralized but display intriguing collective intelligence in coordinating individuals across large scales to efficiently achieve their common goals. Learning from nature may provide new strategies for controlling collective dynamics of synthetic swarms to accomplish specific functions. Here, we present a bioinspired computational framework that steers distributed active swarms to collectively capture and merge targets via reinforcement learning. We exploit collective milling structures of natural herds to cage the targets, and adopt a switching control policy inspired by sperms' chiral dynamics to optimize the trajectories of individuals, through which the active swarms can selforganize to enclose single or multiple distant targets in a dynamical, adaptive and scalable manner. There exists a critical swarm size, beyond which the excessive competition between agents would generate large mechanical forces, leading to capture instability but enabling the transition from short-distance to long-distance merging capture of multiple targets. This work provides physical insights into distributed active swarms and could offer a multilevel, decentralized strategy toward controlling swarm robotics in wide applications such as bio-medical devices, machine immunity, and target clearance.

Mitochondrial Rho-GTPase 1 (MIRO1) is an outer mitochondrial membrane protein which regulates mitochondrial transport and mitophagy in mitosis. In present study, we reported the crucial roles of MIRO1 in mammalian oocyte meiosis and its potential relationship with aging. We found that MIRO1 expressed in mouse and porcine oocytes, and its expression decreased in aged mice. MIRO1 deficiency caused the failure of meiotic resumption and polar body extrusion in both mouse and porcine oocytes, which could be rescued by exogenous MIRO1supplementation. Mass spectrometry data indicated that MIRO1 associated with several cytoskeleton and cell cycle-related proteins, and MIRO1 regulated motor protein Dynein for microtubule-organizing centers (MTOCs) dynamics at germinal vesicle (GV) stage, which determined meiotic resumption. Furthermore, we found that MIRO1 regulated Aurora A and kinesin family member 11 (KIF11) for meiotic spindle assembly in oocytes. Besides, MIRO1 associated with several mitochondria-related proteins dynamic-related protein 1 (DRP1),Parkin and lysosomal-associated membrane protein 2 (LAMP2) for mitochondrial dynamics and mitophagy during oocyte meiosis. Taken together, our results suggested that MIRO1 played pivotal roles in meiotic resumption, spindle assembly and mitochondrial function in mouse and porcine oocytes, and its insufficiency might contribute to the oocyte maturation defects during aging.

The natural endowments of wind and solar resources in the desert and Gobi Desert areas of our country, as well as the reverse distribution of energy and load, make it of great significance to develop large-scale new energy bases and large-scale transmission of AC/DC hybrid power grids in the desert and Gobi Desert areas. The frequent occurrence of extreme sandstorms in the desert and Gobi Desert areas has seriously affected the centralized development and long-distance safe and stable transmission of new energy power generation bases. This article first quantifies the impact of two disaster-causing factors of sandstorms on new energy bases, establishes a mathematical model that reflects the relationship between sandstorms and new energy output, strong winds, and line failure rates, uses Monte Carlo sampling combined with system information entropy to select typical fault scenarios and construct a recovery model, obtains the system elasticity curve based on operating conditions, considers the entire process of system disaster, and adopts the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method Establish elasticity evaluation indicators;Secondly, a flexible improvement method is proposed from a planning perspective, to minimize the equivalent annual investment cost of the line and energy storage and the system's loss of load cost. A joint planning model for line expansion and energy storage configuration for flexible improvement is established, which is transformed into a mixed integer linear programming (MILP) problem, and the expansion plan of the new energy baseline and the optimal configuration of energy storage are solved. Finally, taking the improved IEEE36 node system as an example for simulation analysis, the elasticity indicators before and after adopting improvement measures are compared to verify the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed elasticity evaluation and improvement methods. © 2025 Power System Technology Press. The development of dual functional material for cyclic CO2capture and hydrogenation is of great significance for converting diluted CO2into valuable fuels,but suffers from kinetic limitation and deactivation of adsorbent and ***,we engineered a series of RuNa/γ-Al2O3materials,varying the size of ruthenium from single atoms to clusters/*** coordination environment and structure sensitivity of ruthenium were quantitatively investigated at atomic *** findings reveal that the reduced Ru nanoparticles,approximately 7.1 nm in diameter with a Ru-Ru coordination number of 5.9,exhibit high methane formation activity and selectivity at 340°*** Ru-Na interfacial sites facilitate CO2migration through a deoxygenation pathway,involving carbonate dissociation,carbonyl formation,and ***-situ experiments and theoretical calculations show that stable carbonyl intermediates on metallic Ru nanoparticles facilitate heterolytic C–O scission and C–H bonding,significantly lowering the energy barrier for activating stored CO2.

Surveillance recommendations for gastric cancer（GC） in current guidelines focused on advanced precancerous lesions and were based on precise diagnosis of severity/extent of baseline lesions. We aimed to develop a less endoscopy-related equipment-dependent risk-stratification tool, and assessed whether mild-precursor-lesion patients can be safely exempt from surveillance. In the multicenter communitybased cohort, 75,051 participants receiving baseline endoscopy were enrolled during 2015–2017 and followed-up until 2021. Cumulative incidence rates（CIRs） of GC for precancerous-conditions were calculated by Kaplan-Meier method and compared by Log-rank tests. Mixedeffects Cox regression models were used to detect potential factors for progression towards GC. A risk score was calculated as counts of selected factors. An independent cohort, including 26,586 participants was used for external validation. During a median follow-up of 6.25 years, CIRs of GC were 0.302%, 0.436%, and 4.756% for normal group, non-neoplastic（atrophic gastritis/intestinal metaplasia） and neoplastic lesions（low-grade/high-grade dysplasia）, respectively(Ptrend<0.001). Four predictors, including male, ≥60 years, smoking, and limited vegetable consumption, were selected for risk-stratification. High-risk patients（≥3 risk factors） with non-neoplastic lesions showed higher GC risks（adjusted HR=7.73, 95%CI: 4.29–13.92）, and their four-year CIR reached the one-year CIR of neoplastic lesions. Further categorizing non-neoplastic lesions by histological grade, both patients with moderate-to-severe lesions（aHR=3.07, 95%CI: 1.67–5.64） and high-risk patients with mild lesions（aHR=7.29, 95%CI: 3.58–14.86） showed higher risks. Consistent trends were observed in validation cohort. High-risk mild-precursor-lesion patients should receive surveillance within 3–5 years after baseline screening. Our study provides evidence on supplementing current guideline recommendations.

Aiming at the problem that the current traffic safety helmet detection model can't balance the accuracy of detection with the size of the model and the poor generalization of the model, a method based on improving you only look once version 5(YOLOv5) is proposed. By incorporating the lightweight Ghost Net module into the YOLOv5 backbone network, we effectively reduce the model size. The addition of the receptive fields block(RFB) module enhances feature extraction and improves the feature acquisition capability of the lightweight model. Subsequently, the high-performance lightweight convolution, GSConv, is integrated into the neck structure for further model size compression. Moreover, the baseline model's loss function is substituted with efficient insertion over union(EIoU), accelerating network convergence and enhancing detection precision. Experimental results corroborate the effectiveness of this improved algorithm in real-world traffic scenarios.

In-situ formed high Mn steel coating reinforced by carbides was formed by laser surface alloying(LSA).Laser alloyed layers on 1Cr18Ni9Ti steel with Mn+W_(2)C(specimen A),Mn+NiWC(specimen B)and Mn+SiC(specimen C)powders were fabricated to improve the wear and corrosion behavior of 1Cr18Ni9Ti steel blades in high speed *** evolution,phases,element distribution,microhardness,wear and corrosion behavior of the laser alloyed layers were *** indicated that high Mn steel matrix composites with undissolved W_(2)C,WC and other in-situ formed carbides were formed by LSA with Mn+W_(2)C and Mn+NiWC while SiC totally dissolved into the high Mn matrix when adding Mn+*** as the binding phase in Ni-WC powder decreased the crack sensitivity of the alloyed layer as compared with the addition of W_(2)C *** improvement in average microhardness was achieved in the matrix in specimen A,B and C,with the value of 615,602 and 277 HV_(0.5),while that of the substrate was 212 HV_(0.5).The increase of microhardness,wear and corrosion resistance is highly corelated to microstructure,formed phases,type and content of carbides,micro-hardness and toughness of the alloyed layers.

The combination of photodynamic therapy（PDT） and chemodynamic therapy（CDT） in tumor treatment has attracted considerable ***,tumor hypoxia and glutathione（GSH） overproduction in the tumor tissue restricted the progress of their ***,a Mn-porphyrinic metal-organic framework（Mn-TCPP） was constructed by the one-pot method and further used for immobilizing glucose oxidase（GOx） to obtain GOx@*** would rapidly exhaust endogenous glucose into hydrogen peroxide（H2O2） and gluconic acid,thus shutting off the energy supply of tumor cells for starvation ***-TCPP catalyzed H2O2to produce oxygen,regulating the hypoxic tumor microenvironment and in turn improving1O2generation under laser ***,Mn-TCPP can reduce reactive oxygen species consumption owing to the redox reaction between Mn3+and GSH,thus greatly enhancing ***,benefiting from GOx-mediated starvation therapy,Mn2+produced by Mn3+reduction can react with sufficient intracellular H2O2to generate ·OH with high cytotoxicity through a Fenton-like *** treatment by GOx@Mn-TCPP under laser irradiation in vitro,the cell viability of 4T1 and A549 tumor cells reached to 20%,reflecting GOx@Mn-TCPP could give full play to the advantages of PDT/CDT/starvation *** results in vivo demonstrated that GOx@Mn-TCPP mediated synergistic cascade therapy could significantly inhibit tumor growth and improve the therapeutic effect.
