Four new fossil species of the family Ommatidae from the Yixian Formation of western Liaoning,China are described. Two of them belong to tribe Brochocoleini:Brochocoleus sulcatus *** Brochocoleus angustus *** other two refer to tribe Ommatini:Cionocoleus planiusculus *** Cionocoleus cervicalis *** diagnosis of Brochocoleus and Cionocoleus, respectively,are revised.A preliminary analysis of geographical distribution suggests a possible migration pathway of the genus Bro- *** relationship between the genus Cionocoleus and the extant family Crowsoniellidae is briefly discussed.

Discovery of Middle Jurassic palaeontinids from Inner Mongolia, China (Homoptera: Palaeontinidae)

A new genus and three new species of fossil Palaeontinidae, Papilioncossus conchatus sp. nov., P. giganteus sp. nov. and P. pteroideus sp. nov., are described. All of them were collected from Middle Jurassic Jiulongshan Formation in Inner Mongolia, China. Based on distal part of forewing broader and longer than basal and Sc usually with branches, the new taxa are attributed to Palaeontinidae of Homoptera and compared with genus Pseudocossus. A key to species of Papilioncossus gen. nov. is provided. All type specimens are deposited in the Capital Normal University.

Computer Navigation-aided Resection of Sacral Chordomas

Background： Resection of sacral chordomas is challenging. The anatomy is complex, and there are often no bony landmarks to guide the resection. Achieving adequate surgical margins is, therefore, difficult, and the recurrence rate is high. Use of computer navigation may allow optimal preoperative planning and improve precision in tumor resection. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety and feasibility of computer navigation-aided resection of sacral chordomas. Methods： Between 2007 and 2013, a total of 26 patients with sacral chordoma underwent computer navigation-aided surgery were included and followed for a minimum of 18 months. There were 21 primary cases and 5 recurrent cases, with a mean age of 55.8 years old （range： 35 84 years old）. Tumors were located above the level of the $3 neural foramen in 23 patients and below the level of the $3 neural foramen in 3 patients. Three-dimensional images were reconstructed with a computed tomography-based navigation system combined with the magnetic resonance images using the navigation software. Tumors were resected via a posterior approach assisted by the computer navigation. Mean follow-up was 38.6 months （range： 18-84 months）. Results： Mean operative time was 307 min. Mean intraoperative blood loss was 3065 ml. For computer navigation, the mean registration deviation during surgery was 1.7 ram. There were 18 wide resections, 4 marginal resections, and 4 intralesional resections. All patients were alive at the final follow-up, with 2 （7.7%） exhibiting tumor recurrence. The other 24 patients were tumor-free. The mean Musculoskeletal Tumor Society Score was 27.3 （range： 19-30）. Conclusions： Computer-assisted navigation can be safely applied to the resection of the sacral chordomas, allowing execution of preoperative plans, and achieving good oncological outcomes. Nevertheless, this needs to be accomplished by surgeons with adequate experience and skill.

Chemical characteristics and source apportionment of PM_(10) during a brown haze episode in Harbin, China

This study investigates the correlation between PM10 and meteorological factors such as wind speed, atmospheric visibility, dew point, relative humidity, and ambient temperature during a brown haze episode. In order to identify the potential sources of PMlo during brown haze episode, respirable par- ticulate matter （PM10） was collected during both non-haze days and haze days and further analyzed for metallic elements, ionic species, and carbonaceous contents. Among them, ionic species contributed 45-64% to PM10, while metallic elements contributed 7-21% to PM10 which was smaller than the other chemical constituents. The average OC/EC ratio （42） in haze days was about three times of the average OC/EC ratio （14） in non-haze days. By using chemical mass balance （CMB） receptor model, the major sources were apportioned, including traffics, incinerators, coal combustion, steel industry, petrochemical industry, and secondary aerosols, etc. The contribution to PM10 concentration of each source was calcu- lated for all the samples collected. The results showed that coal combustion was the major source of PM10 in non-haze days and secondary aerosols were the major source in haze days, followed by petrochemical industry, incinerators, and traffics, while other sources had negligible effect.

Intelligent back analysis of geotechnical parameters for time-dependent rock mass surrounding mine openings using grey Verhulst model

In this paper,we present a new method of intelligent back analysis(IBA)using grey Verhulst model(GVM)to identify geotechnical parameters of rock mass surrounding tunnel,and validate it via a test for a main openings of−600 m level in Coal Mine“6.13”,Democratic People's Republic of *** displacement components used for back analysis are the crown settlement and sidewalls convergence monitored at the end of the openings excavation,and the final closures predicted by *** non-linear relation between displacements and back analysis parameters was obtained by artificial neural network(ANN)and Burger-creep viscoplastic(CVISC)model of ***,the optimal parameters were determined for rock mass surrounding tunnel by genetic algorithm(GA)with both groups of measured displacements at the end of the final excavation and closures predicted by *** maximum absolute error(MAE)and standard deviation(Std)between calculated displacements by numerical simulation with back analysis parameters and in situ ones were less than 6 and 2 mm,***,it was found that the proposed method could be successfully applied to determining design parameters and stability for tunnels and underground cavities,as well as mine openings and stopes.

New fossil mayflies （Insecta： Ephemeroptera） from the Middle Jurassic of Daohugou, Inner Mongolia, China

Abstract Jurassonurus amoenus, a new genus and species of Siphlonuridae s. I. is described from the Middle Jurassic Jiulongshan Formation of the Daohugou Village, Shantou Township, Ningcheng County, Inner Mongolia, China. The new species is estab- lished by more than 20 imago and subimago specimens in relatively good condition. Detailed description and illustration of the specimens along with a review of fossil Siphlonuridae s. I. are given. Comparing with two known dominant nymph species Fuyous gregarious Zhang and Kluge, 2007 and Shantous lacustri Zhang and Kluge, 2007 from the same locality, we could not find any relationship among them. The new species is another dominant species in Daohugou beds.

Precise Object Detection Using Iterative Superpixels Grouping Method

The region completeness of object detection is very crucial to video surveillance, such as the pedestrian and vehicle identifications. However, many conventional object detection approaches cannot guarantee the object region completeness because the object detection can be influenced by the illumination variations and clustering backgrounds. In order to overcome this problem, we propose the iterative superpixels grouping （ISPG） method to extract the precise object boundary and generate the object region with high completeness after the object detection. First, by extending the superpixel segmentation method, the proposed ISPG method can improve the inaccurate segmentation problem and guarantee the region completeness on the object regions. Second, the multi- resolution superpixel-based region completeness enhancement method is proposed to extract the object region with high precision and completeness. The simulation results show that the proposed method outperforms the conventional object detection methods in terms of object completeness evaluation.

A facile route to tungsten oxide nanomaterials with controlled morphology and structure

Various tungsten oxide-based nanomaterials have been prepared by a modified plasma arc gas condensation technique without the use of catalysts or substrates. These products could be obtained by controlling the processing parameters during experiment. All the as-obtained samples were characterized by field emission gun scanning electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, and X- ray diffraction techniques. The results revealed that as-prepared tungsten oxide nanomaterials （WO3, W190s5 and WsO14） with different phases and morphologies could be obtained by decreasing the oxygen content in the chamber. In addition, W18049 nanotubes and nanorod bundles were fabricated by con- trolling the Ar/O2 ratio under He plasma gas. W18Q9/TiO2 core-shell nanoparticles were also prepared by evaporating a dual target. The experimental results showed that the present technique is unique and feasible for the fabrication of nanomaterials for use in different applications.
