Highly efficient CO_(2) capture using 2-methylimidazole aqueous solution on laboratory and pilot-scale

To date,the primary industrial carbon capture approach is still absorption using aqueous solutions of alkanolamines.Here,to pursue a substitute for the amine-based approach to improve the CO_(2) capture efficiency and decrease the energy cost further,we report a new carbon capture approach using a 2-methylimidazole(mIm)aqueous solution.The properties and sorption behaviors of this approach have been experimentally investigated.The results show that the mIm solution has higher CO_(2) absorption capacity under relatively higher equilibrium pressure(>130 kPa)and lower desorption heat than the methyldiethanolamine solution.91.6%sorption capacity of mIm solution can be recovered at 353.15 K and 80 kPa.The selectivity for CO_(2)/N_(2) and CO_(2)/CH_(4) can reach an exceptional 7609 and 4324,respectively.Furthermore,the pilot-scale tests were also performed,and the results demonstrate that more than 98%of CO_(2) in the feed gas could be removed and cyclic absorption capacity can reach 1 mol·L^(-1).This work indicates that mIm is an excellent alternative to alkanolamines for carbon capture in the industry.

Base station(BS)backup batteries(BSBBs),with their dispatchable capacity,are potential demand-side resources for future power systems.To enhance the power supply reliability and post-contingency frequency security of power systems,we propose a two-stage stochastic unit commitment(UC)model incorporating operational reserve and post-contingency frequency support provisions from massive BSBBs in cellular networks,in which the minimum backup energy demand is considered to ensure BS power supply reliability.The energy,operational reserve,and frequency support ancillary services are co-optimized to handle the power balance and post-contingency frequency security in both forecasted and stochastic variable renewable energy(VRE)scenarios.Furthermore,we propose a dedicated and scalable distributed optimization framework to enable autonomous optimizations for both dispatching center(DC)and BSBBs.The BS model parameters are stored and processed locally,while only the values of BS decision variables are required to upload to DC under the proposed distributed optimization framework,which safeguards BS privacy effectively.Case studies on a modified IEEE 14-bus system demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in promoting VRE accommodation,ensuring post-contingency frequency security,enhancing operational economics,and fully utilizing BSBBs'energy and power capacity.Besides,the proposed distributed optimization framework has been validated to converge to a feasible solution with near-optimal performance within limited iterations.Additionally,numerical results on the Guangdong 500 kV provincial power system in China verify the scalability and practicality of the proposed distributed optimization framework.

Non-methane hydrocarbons(NMHCs)are a common type of volatile organic compounds(VOCs)pollutant in the petrochemical industry and have attracted widespread attention because of their adverse health effects and environmental impacts.In this paper,we report a new porous slurry formed with zeolitic imidazolate framework-8(ZIF-8)and iso-hexadecane to capture the low-concentration and multi-component NMHCs(mainly ethane(C_(2)H_(6)),propane(C_(3)H_(8)),and n-butane(n-C_(4)H_(10)))from the oil field exhaust.The sorption capacity of C_(2)H_(6)in the slurry is significantly higher than that of nitrogen(N_(2))and methane(CH_(4)).Moreover,the slurry demonstrated a clear advantage for C_(2)H_(6)over N_(2)and CH_(4)in competitive adsorption through the pressure-drop curves.In the NMHCs capture experiments,the C_(3)H_(8)and n-C_(4)H_(10)concentrations after purification can be reduced to below 100 ppm,while the C_(2)H_(6)concentration can reach approximately 180 ppm.More encouragingly,in the breakthrough tests,the slurry exhibits a perfect kinetic separation selectivity for multi-component NMHCs.Furthermore,to avoid structural collapse of ZIF-8 material during long-term use in acidic and wet environments,a certain amount of 2-methylimidazole was retained in the slurry as a protective agent in the material synthesis process.In this way,the ZIF-8 materials in the slurry can retain the stable characteristic structure in an aqueous and acidic environment and keep the capture capacity for NMHCs without degradation.We believe the porous ZIF-8/iso-hexadecane slurry is a promising capture agent for low-concentration and multi-component NMHCs with strong purification capacity and stability.

In this paper,a patch-antenna-array enhanced quantum cascade detector with freely switchable operating modes among mid-wave,long-wave,and dual-color was proposed and discussed.The dual-color absorption occurs in a single active region through an optimized coupled miniband diagonal-transition subbands arrangement,and a successful separation of the operation regimes was realized by two nested antenna arrays with different patch sizes up to room temperature.At 77 K,the 5.7-μm channel achieved a peak responsivity of 34.6 mA/W and exhibited a detectivity of 2.0×10^(10)Jones,while the 10.0-μm channel achieved a peak responsivity of 87.5 mA/W,giving a detectivity of 5.0×10^(10)Jones.Under a polarization modulation of the incident light,the minimum cross talk of the mid-wave and the long-wave operating modes was 1:22.5 and 1:7.6,respectively.This demonstration opens a new prospect for multicolor infrared imaging chip integration technology.

Previous studies have shown that glycine and proline are pharmacophores that display antibacterial activity.In the present study,glycine and proline were derivated to diketopiperazine compounds by chemical synthesis method,and their antibacterial activities were evaluated by three strains of spoilage bacteria,Escherichia coli,Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Shewanella putrefaciens,and the relationship of their antibacterial activities and structures was also investigated.Uv-vis spectrophotometry was used to determine the growth curves of three kinds of active indicator bacteria.Minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC)was determined by micro broth dilution method.The results showed that 2-methyl-3-(methylthio)pyrazine had significant antibacterial activity against three strains of the bacteria,and its MIC was 1.25%.It indicates 2-methyl-3-(methylthio)pyrazine has the potential to be developed as a kind of preservative in future.

BACKGROUND Lumbar radiculopathy spondylosis is a relatively common orthopedic disease with a high incidence rate.It most commonly occurs in the lumbar 4-5 and lumbar 5-sacral 1 vertebrae,which account for approximately 95%of cases.It mostly occurs in people aged 30-50 years old and greatly affects their quality of life.AIM To determine the effect of triple-voltage acupuncture combined with helium-neon laser irradiation on the quality of care and improvement of symptoms in patients with lumbar radiculopathy spondylolisthesis.METHODS In this study,we selected 120 patients with lumbar radiculopathy spondylosis who were treated at our hospital between June 2019 to June 2020.The patients were divided into control and observation groups according to the random number table method,with 60 patients in each group.Patients in the observation group were treated with three-volt moxibustion combined with helium-neon laser irradiation,and those in the control group were treated with lumbar traction.After 1 month of treatment,the lumbar pain scores,lumbar spine motor functions,clinical treatment effects,and nursing satisfaction of the two groups were compared.RESULTS The results showed that acupuncture combined with laser irradiation significantly improved the patients'clinical symptoms,i.e.,reduced their low back pain,significantly lower numerical rating scale pain scores in the observation group than in the control group,and better lumbar spine motility than in the control group,compared to lumbar traction.In addition,they were cared for.The treatment effectiveness rate of the observation group was 95.5%,which was significantly higher than that of the control group(81.67%).Satisfaction with care was higher than 90 points in both groups,but the difference was not statistically significant.CONCLUSION Our study provides a clinical rationale for the future treatment of patients with lumbar spine disease.However,further extensive research is needed for validation.

BACKGROUND Recent studies on dialysis anticoagulation therapy in patients with renal failure have shown that Nafamostat mesylate,a broad-spectrum potent serine protease inhibitor,has strong anticoagulation and anti-fiber activity.AIM To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Nafamostat mesylate in patients with end-stage renal failure.METHODS Seventy-five patients with end-stage renal failure who received hemodialysis at our hospital between January 2020 and August 2021 were selected and divided into the observation group(Nafamostat mesylate for injection,n=33)and control group(heparin sodium injection,n=32).General patient data,indicators of clinical efficacy,dialyzer hemocoagulation parameters,coagulation function indices,and hemoglobin concentration and platelet count before and after treatment,and the occurrence of adverse reactions after treatment were compared between the two groups.RESULTS The two groups showed no significant differences in general patient data(P>0.05).The post-treatment effectiveness rate in the control group was lower than that in the observation group(P0.05),while the number of patients in grade 0 was lower in the control group,and the number of patients in grades II and III was higher in the control group(Plized ratio values in the control group were higher than those in the observation group,while the fibrinogen level in the control group was lower than that in the observation group(P0.05).The total number of post-treatment adverse reactions in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Treatment of patients showing end-stage renal failure with Nafamostat mesylate can significantly improve therapeutic efficacy and ha

Deep learning significantly improves the accuracy of remote sensing image scene classification,benefiting from the large-scale datasets.However,annotating the remote sensing images is time-consuming and even tough for experts.Deep neural networks trained using a few labeled samples usually generalize less to new unseen images.In this paper,we propose a semi-supervised approach for remote sensing image scene classification based on the prototype-based consistency,by exploring massive unlabeled images.To this end,we,first,propose a feature enhancement module to extract discriminative features.This is achieved by focusing the model on the foreground areas.Then,the prototype-based classifier is introduced to the framework,which is used to acquire consistent feature representations.We conduct a series of experiments on NWPU-RESISC45 and Aerial Image Dataset(AID).Our method improves the State-Of-The-Art(SOTA)method on NWPU-RESISC45 from 92.03%to 93.08%and on AID from 94.25%to 95.24%in terms of accuracy.

The gun-track launch system is a new special launch device that connects the track outside the muzzle.Because it is constrained by the track,the characteristics of development of the muzzle jet differ from those of the traditional muzzle jet.Specifically,it changes from freely developing to doing so in a constrained manner,where this results in an asymmetric direction of flow as well as spatio-temporal coupling-induced interference between various shock waves and the formation of vortices.In this background,the authors of this article formulate and consider the development and characteristics of evolution of the muzzle jet as it impacts a constrained moving body.We designed simulations to test the gun-track launch system,and established a numerical model based on the dynamic grid method to explore the development and characteristics of propagation of disturbances when the muzzle jet impacted a constrained moving body.We also considered models without a constrained track for the sake of comparison.The results showed that the muzzle jet assumed a circumferential asymmetric shape,and tended to develop in the area above the muzzle.Because the test platform was close to the ground,the muzzle jet was subjected to reflections from it that enhanced the development and evolution of various forms of shock waves and vortices in the muzzle jet to exacerbate its rate of distortion and asymmetric characteristics.This in turn led to significant differences in the changes in pressure at symmetric points that would otherwise have been identical.The results of a comparative analysis showed that the constrained track could hinder the influence of reflections from the ground on the muzzle jet to some extent,and could reduce the velocity of the shock waves inducing the motion of the muzzle as well as the Mach number of the moving body.The work here provides a theoretical basis and the requisite technical support for applications of the gun-track launch system.It also sheds light on the technical bottlenecks that need to be considered
