AIM: To identify kinases involved in phenotype regulation of vascular endothelial cells(VECs): Proproliferative G-protein signaling 5(RGS5)^(high)(typeⅠ) vs anti-proliferative RGS5^(low)(typeⅡ) ***: Proteomic kinase assays were performed to identify the crucial kinase involved in the phenotype regulation of human VECs using typeⅠ VECs, which promotes the proliferation of human vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMCs), and typeⅡ VECs, which suppress the proliferation of human VSMCs. The assays were performed using multiple pairs of typeⅠ and typeⅡ VECs to obtain the least number of candidates. The involvement of the candidate kinases was verified by evaluating the effects of their specific inhibitors on the phenotype regulation of human VECs as well as the expression levels of regulator of RGS5, which is the causative gene for the "typeⅡ to typeⅠ" phenotype conversion of human VECs. RESULTS: p38α mitogen-activated protein kinase(p38α MAPK) was the only kinase that showed distinctive activities between typeⅠ and typeⅡ VECs: p38α MAPK activities were low and high in type-Ⅰand typeⅡ VECs, respectively. We found that an enforced expression of RGS5 indeed lowered p38α MAPK activitiesin typeⅡ VECs. Furthermore, treatments with a p38α MAPK inhibitor nullified the anti-proliferative potential in typeⅡ VECs. Interestingly, MAPK inhibitor treatments enhanced the induction of RGS5 gene. Thus, there is a vicious cycle between "RGS5 induction" and "p38α MAPK inhibition", which can explain the unidirectional process in the stress-induced "typeⅡ to typeⅠ" conversions of human VECs. 市川房枝是近现代日本政治史上颇具代表性的妇女解放运动家和女性政治家。1924年12月,市川参与成立的"获得同盟"被视为战前日本妇女选举运动的摇篮,她作为妇女选举运动旗手始终坚持引领着为女性获得参政权的斗争。九一八事变的爆发使正处于高峰期的妇女选举运动急转直下,市川在提出反战主张的同时,将市民活动纳入妇女选举运动领域。1937年日本发动全面侵华战争,妇女选举运动转向为战时体制服务、支持侵略战争,市川也成为战争帮凶。经过战后民主化改革,日本女性获得了平等的参政权,但政治风气却趋于保守。回顾历史,可以说战前、战时妇女选举运动累积的经验,形成了近现代日本政治的暗流。市川在领导妇女选举运动的过程中,一边推动女性参与政治,一边与自民党主导的利益诱导型金权政治相抗衡。其倡导的"政治即是生活"政治理念与实践,也成为导致战后日本两次政权更迭的重要背景。

钻自西昆仑山崇测冰帽海拔6 530 m的18.7 m冰芯提供了近百年间的尘埃沉积记录.冰芯记录覆盖的90 a间尘埃表现出持续下降的总趋势,大体可以分为3个阶段,即1930年之前,1930-1960年和1960年之后,尘埃浓度的降低是量级上的.几个突出的尘埃阶段出现在1900年代早期、1910年代、1920年代后期和1940年代早期,它们分别以约2.5×106、2.7×106、2.5×106和1.5×106粒.mL-1的高浓度为特征,而1970年代则表现出相对较低的浓度(5×105粒.mL-1).就年份来看,突出的高尘埃浓度出现于1906,1915,1919和1943年.根据微粒的粒径资料分析,局地输入的尘埃分量约占总值的17%,剔除后可以得到中、大尺度范围的大气尘埃沉积通量.根据后60 a资料建立的通量平均值为913μ***-2.a-1,大气尘埃随时间的每10 a下降速率为-124μ***-2,它可反映塔克拉玛干沙漠南缘对流层中上部的大气尘埃通量半个多世纪以来的变化趋势.

The association between adipokines and inflammatory periodontal diseases has been studied over the last two decades. This review was intended to explore the observation that periodontal therapy may lead to an improvement of adipokines in diabetic patients. In summary, substantial evidence suggests that diabetes is associated with increased prevalence, extent and severity of periodontitis. Numerous mechanisms have been elucidated to explain the impact of diabetes on the periodontium. However, current knowledge concerning the role of major adipokines indicates only some of their associations with the pathogenesis of periodontitis in type 2 diabetes. Conversely, treatment of periodontal disease and reduction of oral inflammation may have positive effects on the diabetic condition, although evidence for this remains somewhat equivocal.

冰芯年代学的建立, 对于稳定同位素定年方法失效的钻点尤为困难. 依据粒径在0.66～1.33μm之间的不可溶尘埃微粒的浓度垂向分布, 并结合阳离子Ca2+的浓度剖面变化, 实现了对崇测冰帽冰芯浅层的断代. 该冰芯钻自海拔6 532 m的冰穹顶部, 解析的18.7 m冰芯长度占到钻点冰层深度约2/5, 辅助的定年参数包括钻点表层5 a的实测净积累率和大气核试验的地层标志. 综合各种技巧定年, 崇测冰帽该冰芯覆盖的记录年代为1902-1992年, 最底部累积误差在±2 a(约为2%).

AIM: To investigate the accuracy of preoperative examinations in follicular type tumors, we re-evaluate results of our operative ***: Cases are follicular neoplasms in 36 patients, which are more than 30 mm in diameter and underwent surgery in our hospital in 2005-2006. These cases had been suspected of malignancy on one or more of the preoperative examinations, including ultrasound(US), thallium-technecium(Tl-Tc) scinitigram,computed tomography(CT), or fine needle aspiration biopsy(FNA) examinations. Concern about operative procedure, lobectomy plus sentinel lymph node biopsy(SNB) was performed in all 36 follicular tumors at the first surgery. Because we can diagnose a suspected follicular tumor as carcinoma and can change the operative procedure intra-operatively, when the metastasis of lymph nodes, outside of the thyroid, is found. The operative procedure was changed from lobectomy to total thyroidectomy plus lymph nodes dissection(centralcomponent), when the SNB has metastasis. All thirty six cases were obtained to track the prognosis until 2012, for 6-7 years follow up ***: The final pathological results are 3 cases of follicular carcinoma, 6 cases of papillary carcinoma, 1 case of papillary carcinoma follicular type, 1 case of malignant lymphoma, 16 cases of follicular adenoma, and 9 cases of adenomatous goiter. The malignant tumor were observed in 11/36(30.6%) cases. All six papillary carcinomas were less than 20 mm, and present with follicular adenoma and adenomatous goiter, which have more than 40 mm diameter. In physical examination, tumor size of 36 cases of follicular neoplasm is more than 30 mm all at the time of surgery. The tumors were palpable somewhat stiff, such as no cystic component in 34 cases. Occasional dyspnea, dysphagia, and cough was accompanied in all 36 cases. The true ratio of correct diagnosis of preoperative US, Tl-Tc scinitigram, CT, and FNA were 17/36(47.2%), 16/36(44.4%), 24/36(66.7%), 21/36(58.3%), respectivel

AIM: To integrally understand the effects of human vascular endothelial cells(VECs) on the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMCs).METHODS: Various kinds of human VECs of different origins were co-cultured with human aortic smooth muscle cells, a representative of human VSMCs. To exclude the irrelevant effects due to growth competition between VECs and VSMCs, the proliferation of VECs had previously been arrested via a low-dose gamma rayirradiation. To discriminately analyze the proliferation of VSMCs from that of VECs, the former cells were labeled with red fluorescent dye while the latter cells were labeled with green fluorescent dye before performing coculture experiments. After 4 d, total cells were harvested and subjected to flow cytometric analyses. Decrements in red fluorescence intensities due to proliferationmediated dilutions were measured and mathematically processed using a specific software to quantitatively evaluate the proliferation of VSMCs. The findings obtained from the flow cytometry-based analyses were further validated by microscopic observations. RESULTS: Commercially available primary cultured human VECs exclusively promoted VSMC proliferation regardless of their tissue origins and we termed these pro-proliferative VECs as "typeⅠ". By contrast, VECs freshly generated from human bone marrow-derived endothelial progenitors cells or human pluripotent stem cells including embryonic stem cells and induced pluripotent stem cells suppressed VSMC proliferation and we termed these anti-proliferative VECs as "typeⅡ". Repetitive subcultures as well as oxidative stress induced "type Ⅱ VECs to typeⅠ" conversion along with an induction of Regulator of G-protein signaling 5(RGS5)Compatibly, anti-oxidant treatments suppressed both the subculture-dependent "typeⅡ to typeⅠ" conversion and an induction of RGS5 gene.
