Kinematic deformation and intensity assessment of the 2021 Maduo M_(S)7.4 earthquake in Qinghai revealed by high-frequency GNSS

Rapid acquisition of the kinematic deformation field and seismic intensity distribution of large earthquakes is crucial for postseismic emergency rescue,disaster assessment,and future seismic risk research.The advancement of GNSS observation and data processing makes it play an important role in this field,especially the high-frequency GNSS.We used the differential positioning method to calculate the 1 HZ GNSS data from 98 sites within 1000 km of the M_(S)7.4 Maduo earthquake epicenter.The kinematic deformation field and the distribution of the seismic intensity by using the peak ground velocity derived from displacement waveforms were obtained.The results show that:1)Horizontal coseismic response deformation levels ranging from 25 mm to 301 mm can be observed within a 1000 km radius from the epicenter.Coseismic response deformation on the east and west sides shows bilateral asymmetry,which markedly differs from the symmetry presented by surface rupture.2)The seismic intensity obtained through high-frequency GNSS and field investigations exhibits good consistency of the scope and orientation in the high seismic intensity area,although the former is generally slightly smaller than the latter.3)There may exist obstacles on the eastern side of the seismogenic fault.The Maduo earthquake induced a certain tectonic stress loading effect on the western Kunlun Pass-Jiangcuo fault(KPJF)and Maqin-Maqu segment,resulting in higher seismic risk in the future.

Synthesis of Long-Chain Oligomeric Donor and Acceptors via Direct Arylation for Organic Solar Cells

The rapid synthesis of structurally complicated electron donors&acceptors still remains a major challenge in organic solar cells(OSC).In this work,we developed a highly efficient strategy to access long-chain oligomeric donor and acceptors for OSC applications.A series of cyclopentadithiophene(CPDT)and benzothiadiazole(BT)-basedπ-conjugated oligomers,i.e.,three oligomeric acceptors(BTDT)n-IC(n=1—3)and one long-chain oligomeric donor(BTDT)4-RD,are facilely synthesized by an atom-and step-economical,and labor-saving direct C—H arylation(DACH)reaction(i.e.,C—H/C—Br cross coupling).Note that(BTDT)4-RD involving five CPDT,four BT and two rhodamine(RD)building blocks is the longest oligomeric donor in the fullerene-free OSC devices ever reported.The dependence of the structure-property-performance correlation of(BTDT)n-IC(n=1—3)and(BTDT)4-RD on theπ-conjugation lengths is thoroughly investigated by opto-electrochemical measurements,bulk heterojunction(BHJ)OSC devices and microscopies.The(BTDT)1-IC:PBDB-T and(BTDT)4-RD:Y6 BHJs achieve power conversion efficiencies of 9.14%and 4.51%,respectively.Our findings demonstrate that DACH reaction is a powerful tool to tune the opto-electronic properties and device performances by regulating the lengths ofπ-conjugated oligomers with varied numbers of repeating units.

The influence of yttrium and manganese additions on the degradation and biocompatibility of magnesium-zinc-based alloys:In vitro and in vivo studies

The repair and regeneration of bone defects are highly challenging orthopedic problems.Recently,Mg-based implants have gained popularity due to their unique biodegradation and elastic modulus similar to that of human bone.The aim of our study is to develop a magnesium alloy with a controllable degradation that can closely match bone tissue to help injuries heal in vivo and avoid cytotoxicity caused by a sudden increase in ion concentration.In this study,we prepared and modified Mg-3Zn,Mg-3Zn-1Y,and Mg-2Zn-1Mn by hot extrusion,and used Mg-2.5Y-2.5Nd was as a control.We then investigated the effect of additions of Y and Mn on alloys'properties.Our results show that Mn and Y can improve not only compression strength but also corrosion resistance.The alloy Mg-2Zn-1Mn demonstrated good cytocompatibility in vitro,and for this reason we selected it for implantation in vivo.The degraded Mg-2Zn-1Mn implanted a bone defect area did not cause obvious rejection and inflammatory reaction,and the degradation products left no signs of damage to the heart,liver,kidney,or brain.Furthermore,we find that Mg-2Zn-1Mn can promote an osteoinductive response in vivo and the formation of bone regeneration.

Incremental Data Stream Classification with Adaptive Multi-Task Multi-View Learning

With the enhancement of data collection capabilities,massive streaming data have been accumulated in numerous application scenarios.Specifically,the issue of classifying data streams based on mobile sensors can be formalized as a multi-task multi-view learning problem with a specific task comprising multiple views with shared features collected from multiple sensors.Existing incremental learning methods are often single-task single-view,which cannot learn shared representations between relevant tasks and views.An adaptive multi-task multi-view incremental learning framework for data stream classification called MTMVIS is proposed to address the above challenges,utilizing the idea of multi-task multi-view learning.Specifically,the attention mechanism is first used to align different sensor data of different views.In addition,MTMVIS uses adaptive Fisher regularization from the perspective of multi-task multi-view learning to overcome catastrophic forgetting in incremental learning.Results reveal that the proposed framework outperforms state-of-the-art methods based on the experiments on two different datasets with other baselines.

Molecular investigation into the transformation of recalcitrant dissolved organic sulfur in refinery sour water during stripping process

Refinery sour water primarily originates from the tops of towers in various units and coker condensate,and cannot be discharged directly to a wastewater treatment plant due to high levels of chemical oxygen demand(COD) and organic sulfur contents. Even after the recovery of H2S from the sour water by the stripping process, the effluent still contains a high concentration of dissolved organic sulfur(DOS), which can have a huge bad influence. While chemical composition of dissolved organic matter(DOM) in refinery wastewater has been extensively studied, the investigation of recalcitrant DOS from sour waters remains unclear. In the present study, chemical composition of sour water DOMs(especially DOS) was investigated using fluorescence spectroscopy(excitation-emission matrix, EEM) and mass spectrometry,including gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS) and high-resolution Orbitrap MS. The GC-MS and EEM results showed that volatile and low-aromaticity compounds were effectively removed during the stripping process, while compounds with high hydrophilicity and humification degree were found to be more recalcitrant. The Orbitrap MS results showed that weak-polar oxygenated sulfur compounds were easier to be removed than oxygenated compounds. However, the effluent still contained significant amounts of sulfur-containing compounds with multiple sulfur atoms, particularly in the form of highly unsaturated and aromatic compounds. The Orbitrap MS/MS results of CHOS-containing compounds from the effluent indicate that the sulfur atoms may exist as sulfonates, disulfide bonds, thioethers. Understanding the composition and structure of sour water DOS is crucial for the development of effective treatment processes that can target polysulfide compounds and minimize their impact on the environment.

The study delves into the expanding role of network platforms in our daily lives, encompassing various mediums like blogs, forums, online chats, and prominent social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. While these platforms offer avenues for self-expression and community support, they concurrently harbor negative impacts, fostering antisocial behaviors like phishing, impersonation, hate speech, cyberbullying, cyberstalking, cyberterrorism, fake news propagation, spamming, and fraud. Notably, individuals also leverage these platforms to connect with authorities and seek aid during disasters. The overarching objective of this research is to address the dual nature of network platforms by proposing innovative methodologies aimed at enhancing their positive aspects and mitigating their negative repercussions. To achieve this, the study introduces a weight learning method grounded in multi-linear attribute ranking. This approach serves to evaluate the significance of attribute combinations across all feature spaces. Additionally, a novel clustering method based on tensors is proposed to elevate the quality of clustering while effectively distinguishing selected features. The methodology incorporates a weighted average similarity matrix and optionally integrates weighted Euclidean distance, contributing to a more nuanced understanding of attribute importance. The analysis of the proposed methods yields significant findings. The weight learning method proves instrumental in discerning the importance of attribute combinations, shedding light on key aspects within feature spaces. Simultaneously, the clustering method based on tensors exhibits improved efficacy in enhancing clustering quality and feature distinction. This not only advances our understanding of attribute importance but also paves the way for more nuanced data analysis methodologies. Target Detection Algorithm in Foggy Scenes Based on Dual Subnets

Under the influence of air humidity,dust,aerosols,etc.,in real scenes,haze presents an uneven state.In this way,the image quality and contrast will decrease.In this case,It is difficult to detect the target in the image by the universal detection network.Thus,a dual subnet based on multi-task collaborative training(DSMCT)is proposed in this paper.Firstly,in the training phase,the Gated Context Aggregation Network(GCANet)is used as the supervisory network of YOLOX to promote the extraction of clean information in foggy scenes.In the test phase,only the YOLOX branch needs to be activated to ensure the detection speed of the model.Secondly,the deformable convolution module is used to improve GCANet to enhance the model’s ability to capture details of non-homogeneous fog.Finally,the Coordinate Attention mechanism is introduced into the Vision Transformer and the backbone network of YOLOX is redesigned.In this way,the feature extraction ability of the network for deep-level information can be enhanced.The experimental results on artificial fog data set FOG_VOC and real fog data set RTTS show that the map value of DSMCT reached 86.56%and 62.39%,respectively,which was 2.27%and 4.41%higher than the current most advanced detection model.The DSMCT network has high practicality and effectiveness for target detection in real foggy scenes.

Oil-paper insulation material is an essential component for oil-filled transformers,and polyimide(PI)insulation paper is a novel material in the field of electricity.The improvement of insulation class for insulation paper has gained significant attention in recent years.In this study,SiO_(2)nanoparticles were modified with a silane coupling agent(KH550),and the KH550-SiO_(2)was added to the fibre membrane through in situ poly-merisation.The chemical composition and microcosmic characteristics of the PI porous fibre membrane were characterised using FT-IR and SEM FT-IR and SEM.Conse-quently,the dielectric constant of the composite paper was reduced to 2.3 upon adding 3 wt%of KH550-SiO_(2),and the dielectric strength reached its maximum value of 85 kV/mm.The results demonstrate that the insulation performance of the KH550-SiO_(2)/PI composite was significantly improved due to the incorporation of nano-SiO_(2).This establishes an efficient approach for achieving excellent electrical and thermal properties in practical applications using the KH550-SiO_(2)/PI fibre membrane.

Protective Graphite Coating for Two-Dimensional Carbon/Carbon Composites

Two-dimensional carbon/carbon(2D C/C)composites are a special class of carbon/carbon composites,generally obtained by combining resin-impregnated carbon fiber clothes,which are then cured and carbonized.This study deals with the preparation of a protective coating for these materials.This coating,based on graphite,was prepared by the slurry method.The effect of graphite and phenolic resin powders with different weight ratios was examined.The results have shown that the coating slurry can fill the pores and cracks of the composite surface,thereby densifying the surface layer of the material.With the increase of the graphite powder/phenolic resin weight ratio,the coating density is enhanced while the coating surface flatness decreases;moreover,the protective ability of coating against erosion first increases(from 1:3 to 2:2)and then decreases(from 2:2 to 3:1).When the weight ratio is about 1:1,the coating for 2D C/C composites exhibits the best erosion resistance,which greatly aids these materials during gas quenching.In this case,the erosion rate is decreased by approximately 41.5%at the impact angle of 30°and 52.3%at normal impact,respectively.This can be attributed to the ability of the coating slurry to infiltrate into the substrate,thereby bonding the fibers together and increasing the compactness of the 2D C/C composites.

Effect of artificial natural light on the development of myopia among primary school-age children in China:a three-year longitudinal study

AIM:To assess the efficacy of artificial natural light in preventing incident myopia in primary school-age children.METHODS:This is a prospective,randomized control,intervention study.A total of 1840 students from 39 classes in 4 primary schools in Foshan participated in this study.The whole randomization method was adopted to include classes as a group according to 1:1 randomized control.Classrooms in the control group were illuminated by usual light,and classrooms in the intervention group were illuminated by artificial natural light.All students received uncorrected visual acuity and best-corrected visual acuity measurement,non-cycloplegic autorefraction,ocular biometric examination,slit lamp and strabismus examination.Three-year follow-up,the students underwent same procedures.Myopia was defined as spherical equivalent refraction≤-0.50 D and uncorrected visual acuity<20/20.RESULTS:There were 894 students in the control group and 946 students in the intervention group with a mean±SD age of 7.50±0.53y.The three-year cumulative incidence rate of myopia was 26.4%(207 incident cases among 784 eligible participants at baseline)in the control group and 21.2%(164 incident cases among 774 eligible participants at baseline)in the intervention group[difference of 5.2%(95%CI,3.7%to 10.1%);P=0.035].There was also a significant difference in the three-year change in spherical equivalent refraction for the control group(-0.81 D)compared with the intervention group[-0.63 D;difference of 0.18 D(95%CI,0.08 to 0.28 D);P<0.001].Elongation of axial length was significantly different between in the control group(0.77 mm)and the intervention group[0.72 mm;difference of 0.05 mm(95%CI,0.01 to 0.09 mm);P=0.003].CONCLUSION:Artificial natural light in the classroom of primary schools can result in reducing incidence rate of myopia during a period of three years.
