BACKGROUND Vedolizumab(VDZ),a humanised monoclonal antibody that selectively inhibits alpha4-beta7 integrins is approved for use in adult moderate to severe ulcerative colitis(UC)*** To assess the efficacy and safety of VDZ in the real-world management of UC in a large multicenter cohort involving two countries and to identify predictors of achieving *** A retrospective review of Australian and Oxford,United Kingdom data for UC *** response at 3 mo,endoscopic remission at 6 mo and clinical remission at 3,6 and 12 mo were *** regression models and Kaplan Meier curves were performed to assess the time to remission,time to failure and the covariates influencing *** outcomes were *** Three hundred and three UC patients from 14 centres in Australia and United Kingdom,[60%n=182,anti-TNF naïve]were *** clinical response was 79%at 3 mo with more Australian patients achieving clinical response compared to Oxford(83%vs 70%P=0.01).Clinical remission for all patients was 56%,62%and 60%at 3,6 and 12 mo ***-TNF naive patients were more likely to achieve remission than exposed patients at all the time points(3 mo 66%vs 40%P<0.001,6 mo 73%vs 46%P<0.001,12 mo 66%vs 51%P=0.03).More Australian patients achieved endoscopic remission at 6 mo compared to Oxford(69%vs 43%P=0.01).On multi-variate analysis,anti-TNF naïve patients were 1.8(95%CI:1.3-2.3)times more likely to achieve remission than anti-TNF exposed(P<0.001).32 patients(11%)had colectomy by 12 *** VDZ was safe and effective with 60%of UC patients achieving clinical remission at 12 mo and prior anti-TNF exposure influenced this outcome.

Site Selective Excitation and Energy Transfer in LiKGdF_5 Crystal Co-doped with Er^(3+) and Tb (3+)

Crystals of LiKGdF 5∶Er 3+, Tb 3+ grown by the hydrothermal synthesis technique with concentrations of 2% and 0.4% were analysed. By using site selective excitation measured at low temperature, luminescence and excitation spectra from Er 3+ and Tb 3+ ions embedded in LiKGdF 5 were clearly separated. The lifetimes of the emitting levels 4S 3/2 of Er 3+ and 5D 4 of Tb 3+ were also determined. Following the site selective spectroscopy study, the dominant energy transfer process from Tb 3+ to Er 3+ in the crystal was then investigated via transient experiments.

Influences of ascorbic acid and gibberellic acid in alleviating effects of salinity in Petunia under in vitro

Salinity is one of the abiotic stresses that limits the growth and productivity of many crops.A possible survival strategy for plant under saline conditions is to use compounds that could minimize the harmful effects of salt stress on the plant *** objective of the presented study was to investigate the effect of exogenous ascorbic acid(ASA)with or without gibberellic acid(GA3)on key growth and biochemical parameters in two petunia cultivars‘Prism Rose’and‘Prism White’under saline(150 mM NaCl)and non-saline in vitro *** cutting with an axillary buds were used as *** of 1 mM ascorbic acid with or without 0.05 mM gibberellic acid into the MS medium stimulated the length of shoots and the number of new shoots of‘Prism Rose’;whereas,it decreased the root length and the number of roots of both‘Prism Rose’and‘Prism White’under non-saline *** addition of ascorbic acid with or without gibberellic acid into the MS medium under saline condition,increased the length of plants and the number of new shoots,but did not affect their root number and *** treatments increased the proline content and lipid peroxidation which was indicated by the accumulation of malondialdehyde(MDA).The study revealed a correlation between chlorophylls a and b content and the leaf pigmentation intensity–parameter a*.Addition of 1 mM ascorbic acid with 0.05 mM gibberellic acid into the MS medium plays a protective role in salinity tolerance by improving the shoot growth and the development as well as increasing the activities of the antioxidant enzymes and other antioxidant substances.

How rotational speed of planetary ball mill and polymer load influence the performance and water vapor sorption in solid dispersions composed of tadalafil and soluplus

The presence of residual water may deteriorate the performance of amorphous solid dispersions prepared by ball milling,affecting molecular mobility,crystallinity,particle size and finally,the drug dissolution *** the stability of these metastable systems depend on both formulation and process variables,the aim of this study was to assess for the first time,the impact that the polymer load and the rotational speed applied upon high energy ball milling could have on the performance of binary co-milled solid dispersions composed of tadalafil(a hydrophobic crystalline drug)and Soluplus(an amphiphilic,hygroscopic amorphous polymer).Each of these variables was tested at three *** electron microscopy,laser diffraction and X-ray powder diffraction were used to analyze morphology,particle size distribution and crystallinity of ball milled formulations *** studies were also carried *** tools of applied physics,namely solid state 1H NMR and relaxometry were used to assess the structure and water mobility upon gaseous phase hydration on *** was shown that both tested variables determined the particle size of the *** the rotational speed of 400 rpm was used,all solid dispersion were XRD-amorphous,but to ensure the immediate release of tadalafil its micellar solubilization in Soluplus was *** the formulation was exposed to water vapor,the hydration level increased with an increasing polymer load as ***,the rotational speed governed the space available for the adsorption of water molecules and their organization in a monolayer or *** behavior may have impact on the kinetics of the amorphous drug recrystallization,and finally deteriorate its dissolution.

首次在ＬａＣｌ３：Ｐｒ３＋，Ｕ３＋中观察到了能量上转换现象。当用６１５．４ｎｍ的红光激发时，Ｌａ－Ｃｌ３：Ｐｒ３＋，Ｕ３＋有很强的蓝光以射。反斯托克斯荧光来自于Ｐｒ３＋的３Ｐ０→３Ｈ４的跃迁，主峰位于４８９．２ｎｍ。通过测量上转换荧光的发光衰减曲线以及发射强度对激发光强度的依赖关系，发现能量上转换是通过两个过程实现的，一是Ｕ３＋到Ｐｒ３＋的交叉弛豫能量传递：Ｕ３＋：４Ｉ１１／２（３／２），４Ｉ９／２（５／２）→Ｐｒ３＋：３Ｈ４（２），３Ｈ６（２）能量失配仅１６ｃｍ－１，很容易为晶格所吸收。二是Ｐｒ３＋的３Ｈ６能级的激发态吸收３Ｈ６→３Ｐ０。发光动力学的理论分析也进一步证实了上述模型的正确性。

详细研究了Eu[Cr0. 1Al0 . 9(OH) 6Mo6O18]·11H2 O中Eu3 + 的发光特性。通过对实验结果的分析 ,确定了体系中Eu3 + 离子有 3种发光中心 ,其中一种占主导地位。样品中存在的Eu3 + 到Cr3 + 的能量传递 ,也发生在这个中心。利用低温下的格位选择激发 ,成功地分离了 3种发光中心的发射光谱。结果显示 ,主要发光中心的格位对称性为C1,与以前的研究结果一致 ;另外两种发光中心则具有较高的对称性。在共振激发条件下 ,测量了不同发光中心在低温下的荧光衰减曲线 ,拟合计算给出中心 1(主要发光中心 )和中心 3的5D0能级的寿命分别为 107和 599μs,相差近 6倍。说明中心 3的对称性比中心 1高 ,和从光谱测量得到的结论一致。

Groundwater pollution by fluoride is one of the prime concerns of the world population due to its toxicity,which results in adverse health *** this paper,we review the current scenario of the fluoride contamination of groundwater in various countries across the globe and its impact on human *** the last decade,several newly affected regions have been reported all over the world,with more than 100 countries affected by fluoride contamination in groundwater(concentration exceeding the acceptable limit of 1.5 mg/L defined by the World Health Organization).Fluoride poisoning is mainly due to the unsupervised ingestion of products for dental and oral hygiene and over-fluoridated drinking *** is estimated that more than 200 million people from different countries are affected by fluoriderelated groundwater issues and health *** highest among these are from the countries in Africa(38),Asia(28),and Europe(24),followed by countries like South America(5),North America(3),and Australia(2).The source of fluoride in drinking water is primarily geogenic,together with forage,grasses and grains,tea,and anthropogenic *** countries affected were correlated with climatic zones and geological factors to gain insights into geospatial *** analyses show that most of the fluoride pollution-prone zones are located in high-grade metamorphic terranes with granitoid or alkaline intrusions,geothermal hot springs,and volcanic regions with arid or semi-arid climatic *** study also finds that children across the globe are more vulnerable than adults to fluoride *** review finds that,although there are efficient fluoride removal techniques,including filters with next-generation nanomaterials,to date,there has not been a single technique developed that can claim to be a practically robust solution for fluoride removal from drinking ***,we suggest developing next-generation filters that can retain essential miner
