Small-and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs)have a crucial influence on the economic development of every nation,but access to formal finance remains a ***,financial institutions encounter challenges in the assessment of SMEs’creditworthiness for the provision of *** institutions employ credit scoring models to identify potential borrowers and to determine loan pricing and collateral *** are perceived as unorganized in terms of financial data management compared to large corporations,making the assessment of credit risk based on inadequate financial data a cause for financial institutions’*** majority of existing models are data-driven and have faced criticism for failing to meet their *** address the issue of limited financial record keeping,this study developed and validated a system to predict SMEs’credit risk by introducing a multicriteria credit scoring *** model was constructed using a hybrid best–worst method(BWM)and the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution(TOPSIS).Initially,the BWM determines the weight criteria,and TOPSIS is applied to score SMEs.A real-life case study was examined to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model,and a sensitivity analysis varying the weight of the criteria was performed to assess robustness against unpredictable financial *** findings indicated that SMEs’credit history,cash liquidity,and repayment period are the most crucial factors in lending,followed by return on capital,financial flexibility,and *** proposed credit scoring model outperformed the existing commercial model in terms of its accuracy in predicting *** model could assist financial institutions,providing a simple means for identifying potential SMEs to grant credit,and advance further research using alternative approaches.

Objective:To ascertain the potential antibacterial activity of honey against clinical isolates of Escherichia coli(***),Pseudomonas aeruginosa(***) and Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi(*** serovar Typhi) by in vitro ***:The partial inhibitory concentration(PIC),minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration(MBC) values of the autoclaved honey(extracted from Apis indica hive by indigenous method) were determined for *** serovar Typhi(n=8:from blood cultute), ***(n=5:from urine culture) and ***(n=5:from pus culture) isolates by in vitro ***:The PICs of the honey tested for the isolates ranged 0.50%-1.25%(v/v) for S. enterica serovar Typhi,0.75%-1.50%(v/v) for *** and 1.00%-1.25%(v/v) for ***, while the MICs ranged 1.75%-3.00%(v/v),3.00%-3.50%(v/v) and 3.50%(v/v),*** *** and *** isolates had MBC value of 4.00%(v/v):the *** serovar Typhi showed MBCs in between 3.00%and 3.50%(v/v).The bactericidal activity of honey was achieved at concentration 3.00%(v/v) for *** serovar Typhi and ***,and at 3.50%(v/v) for P. ***:The excellent antibacterial activity of honey against clinical bacterial isolates indicates the usefulness of honey in clinical practice against bacterial infection.

Objective:To evaluate the antibacterial activity of Emblica officinalis Gaertn(***: Family:Euphorbiaceae) seed and Nymphae odorala Aiton(***:Family:Nymphaeaceae) stamen extracts,alone and in combination,and in combination with amoxicillin(Ax) against Staphylococcus aureus(***).Methods:Antibacterial activity of ethanolic extracts of amla,***,seed(AMS:500μg) and sapla,***,stamen(SAP:500 p g) for 12 methicillin-resistant ***(MRSA) isolates was determined following agar diffusion:in order to assess the combined antibacterial activity,AMS(250μg) plus SAP(250μg) were *** Ax(10μg) activity alone and in combination with AMS(250μg),and SAP(250μg) was determined by disk *** zone diameters of inhibition(ZDIs) for the agents were recorded,and growth inhibitory indices(GIIs) were ***:The MRSA isolates (n=12) had AMS(500μg) and SAP(500μg) ZDIs of 12-19 mm and 21-24 mm,*** ZDIs(range 24-27 mm) increased by 3-4 mm due to combined action of AMS(250μg) and SAP(250μg) indicating synergy between extracts for MRSA(GII 0.634-0.742).The MRSA isolates were resistant to Ax(ZDI:8-11 mm),which in combination with AMS and SAP had synergistic effect,both due to increased ZDI[mean±SD=(3.5±0.577) mm]and GII(0.631-0.894).Conclusions:The data suggest that the plants,*** and *** alone or in combination,are promising in the development of phytomedicines,which may be used,alone or in combination with the antibiotic. Ax,against MRSA infection.

Early versus delayed laparoscopic cholecystectomy in uncomplicated biliary colic: An observational study

Objective:Biliary colic is a condition treated with laparoscopic ***,the outcomes of surgery depend on early or delayed time *** research findings reported no benefits of early over delayed,on contra,other reported *** study aims to compare the benefits associated with early and delayed laparoscopic cholecystectomy among uncomplicated biliary colic ***:This observational study included patients with right upper abdominal pain and abdominal ultrasound showing *** who were admitted at the first and second visits(within 6 weeks of the first visit)were assigned to the early and delayed groups,*** participants were followed up for one-week *** diagnosis of the patient,postoperative hospital stay,duration of surgery and complications were noted and compared ***:A total of 80 patients were included,40 each in the early group and delayed *** patients in the two groups had comparable mean ages(40.55±13.12 y vs.40.45±12.06 y,p=0.972).The early group had more female patients(72.5%vs.45.0%,p=0.012).The duration of hospital stay(2.18±0.38 d vs.2.68±1.04 d,p=0.009)and duration of surgery(61.63±3.64 min vs.71.13±16.19 min,p=0.001)were found to be significantly different between the early and delayed *** 1(2.5%)patient in both groups was converted to open *** biliary colic requiring hospital admission was seen in 1(2.5%)patient and 6(15.0%)patients,acute cholecystitis in 2(5.0%)and 6(15.0%),biliary pancreatitis in 1(2.5%)and 2(5.0%),and obstructive jaundice in 1(2.5%)and 1(2.5%)in the early and delayed groups,respectively,with insignificant differences(p>0.05).Conclusion:Early laparoscopic cholecystectomy decreases the operating time and duration of hospital *** terms of postoperative complications,our study did not find any significant difference between the groups.

Physiological Basis of Stagnant Flooding Tolerance in Rice

Stagnant flooding(SF) is an important constraint which prolonges partial submergence damages of rice plants and reduces grain yield. Due to the heterogeneity in flood-prone ecosystem, many different types of traditional rice varieties are being grown by the farmers. The local landraces adapted to extreme in water availability could be the sources of new gene(s) which would be utilized to improve the adaptability of rice to SF with high yield. The main goal of this study is to identify new genetic resources tolerant to SF based on morpho-physiological traits. A total of 16 rice varieties were selected after initial screening from more than 400 rice varieties which were collected from eastern states of India. The increase rate of plant height was higher under SF compared to control, whereas no such trend was observed in the increment rate of aboveground total dry weight and culm dry weight. Area of aerenchyma gas spaces per tiller increased whereas root oxidase activity decreased under SF. The reduction of root oxidase activity, leaf area, and leaf dry weight was higher in susceptible varieties under SF compared to control. Stability index for different grain yield and yield attributes revealed that the impact of SF differed among different varieties. Correlation coefficient studies among different parameters taking stability index showed significant association with the grain yield. Based on the findings, it was concluded that maintenance of equivalent panicle weight and panicle number, plant height and harvest index at the maturity stage, leaf area, leaf and culm dry weights, root oxidase activity and tiller numbers at the flowering stage under SF compared to control help the plant to counteract the adverse effects of SF.

The current research focuses the light on the characterization of buoyancy-driven non-linear mixed convection and non-linear radiation in a Newtonian flow over a nonlinearly stretching vertical sheet,and this type of flow has useful applications in many industrial processes,such as the paper and pulp industry,polymer industry,electronic device cooling,solar collectors,gas turbine plants,and nuclear *** appropriate transformations,governing PDEs for non-linear mixed convection are reduced to higher-order non-linear ODEs and those are numerically *** with tabular presentations of computed results,the graphical representations are generated to elucidate the effects of involved parameters on convection transport properties and their *** demonstrates that flow velocity increases near the surface and decreases away from the surface as the non-linear convection parameter ***,increments in the thermal buoyancy,temperature ratio and non-linear radiation parameters result in the boost of *** temperature decreases as linear and non-linear buoyancy-related parameters(non-linear convection and thermal buoyancy parameters)are of higher *** contrast,the temperature rises with two non-linear thermal radiation-related parameters(thermal ratio and non-linear radiation parameters).For greater values of the non-linear stretching related parameter,a lower velocity and a higher temperature are *** non-linear convection,thermal buoyancy,thermal ratio and non-linear radiation parameters contribute toward the reduction of the magnitude of surface-drag force and growth of the surface cooling ***,with the non-linearity in surface stretching there are significant percentage hikes of surface-drag force magnitude and surface cooling rate.

Dear editor,“Ureteric stump syndrome(USS)”is a rare entity(incidence 0.8%–1.0%)with left-over in situ distal-ureter being the culprit[[1],[2],[3]].The presentation may be recurrent urinary tract infection(UTI),flank/abdominal pain,or hematuria[1,4].Although only few of the patients require intervention(approximately 1.1%–10%)[[1],[2],[3]],either with open excision of the stump[[1],[2],[3]]or via minimally invasive endoscopic approach[5,6],prompt diagnosis is often *** simple nephrectomy,dilemma exists whether to consider concomitant total ureterectomy to eliminate the future risk of USS[4],or to consider subtotal-ureterectomy along with nephrectomy[[1],[2],[3]].In this letter,we present a retrospective analysis of clinical presentation,diagnostic approach,and management of three patients of USS(Table 1)treated at our centre and try to solve all these dilemmas.

Background: Diaphragmatic agenesis or complete absence of a hemidiaphragm in adulthood is rare. The significance of presence of a lung cyst occupying the common thoracoabdominal space lies in the absence of associated diaphragmatic hernia which has not been documented previously. Case Presentation: We report a case of previously undiagnosed complete absence of a hemidiaphragm in a 62-year-old male who presented with recurrent respiratory infection, episodes of nausea and postprandial fullness. Computed Tomography scan showed a large cyst in relation to the lower lobe of left lung. During surgery, he was found to have complete absence of a left hemidiaphragm and a large cyst arising from the lower lobe of left lung occupied the common thoracoabdominal space. Abdominal viscera were found displaced downwards and fixed in a thick fibrous membrane. There was no herniation of abdominal organs into the thoracic cavity after excision of the cyst. The left lung could be fully expanded and chest was closed after putting a chest drain. Diaphragmatic agenesis did not require any additional procedure. The cyst was excised with closure of bronchocystic opening. The patient had an uneventful recovery. Conclusions: The association of lung cyst with diaphragmatic agenesis (presented in the adulthood) is rare. It has precluded a diaphragmatic hernia and survived the patient acting as a protective barrier. The significance of lung cyst in presence of diaphragmatic agenesis lies in the absence of associated diaphragmatic hernia which has not been documented previously.
