Utilization Pattern of Oral Hypoglycemic Agents for Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 Patients Attending Out-Patient Department at a University Hospital in New Delhi

Diabetes mellitus is the chronic disorder emerging as major world health problem which increases the rate of morbidity and mortality. The aim of the present study was to ascertain patterns of prescription of oral hypoglycemic agents to type 2 diabetic patients attending a university hospital, and to assess patient compliance. A prospective, observational and non comparative study was conducted in 200 established diabetes mellitus type 2 patients attending outpatient department at Majeedia Hospital, New Delhi, India. Prescriptions from registered patients were included in the study. Once the consultation by the physician was over, the prescriptions were reviewed and the patients were interviewed. The information was collected in an inhouse designed documentation proforma. In a pool of 200 type 2 diabetics, more than half were female (n=106, 53%). The mean age of the patients were found to be 50.4 ± 11.7 years and mean body mass index, 25.8 ± 4.4 k./m2. A total of 432 oral hypoglycemic agents were prescribed to the patients. Highly significant number of patients were prescribed combination therapy, (n=143, 71.5%) as compared to monotherapy (n=57, 28.5%),

A Comparative Study on the Corrosion Behaviour of Hard Anodic Coatings on AA 6061 Obtained Using DC and Pulsed DC Power Sources

The corrosion behaviour of the hard anodic coatings prepared by three different methods viz., conventional hard anodizing （C-HA）, pulse hard anodizing （P-HA） and low voltage room temperature pulse hard anodizing （LVP- HA） on AA 6061 was compared using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy （EIS） and linear polarisation. Scanning electron microscope （SEM） was used to study the surface morphology before and after corrosion. EIS data revealed that no significant difference in corrosion resistance was observed among three types. Rp, Icorr and Ecorr were found to be highly stable over the exposure period up to 72 h which confirms the excellent corrosion resistance. The studies indicate that the corrosion resistance of LVP-HA and P-HA, which are processed at lower voltage and at relatively higher temperatures, are comparable to that of C-HA which is processed at sub-zero temperatures and high operating voltages. The corrosion resistance of all coatings was found to be improved after hydrothermal sealing.

Design of Ultra-Low Loss Highly Nonlinear Dispersion Flattened Octagonal Photonic Crystal Fibers

In this study, Octagonal Photonic Crystal Fiber (O-PCF) structures are designed for different air filling fractions with fixed pitch length of 2.2 μm. The light propagating characteristics of PCF structures such as effective refractive index, confinement loss, chromatic dispersion mode effective area and nonlinear coefficient are numerically analyzed. The simulation results show that the fibers have dispersion flattened, ultra-low loss highly nonlinear nature in the wavelength region 1.3 μm to 1.7 μm.

Fuel is a very important factor and has considerable inﬂuence on the air quality in the environment,which is the heart of the *** increase of vehi-cles in lived-in areas results in greater emission of carbon particles in the *** fuel causes more contaminated particles to mix with breathing air and becomes the main source of dangerous *** is the mixing of foreign substances in fuel,which damages vehicles and causes more health problems in living beings such as humans,birds,aquatic life,and even water resources by emitting high levels of hydrocarbons,nitrogen oxides,and carbon *** frequent blending liquids are lubricants and k.rosene in the petrol,and its adulteration is a considerable problem that adds to environ-mental *** study focuses on detecting the adulteration in petrol using sensors and machine learning algorithms.A modiﬁed evanescent wave opticalﬁber sensor with discrete wavelet transform is proposed for classiﬁcation of adult-erated data from the ***,support vector machine classiﬁer is used for accurate *** sensor isﬁrst tested with fuel and numerical data is classiﬁed based on machine learning ***,the result is eval-uated with less error and high accuracy of 99.9%,which is higher than all existing techniques.
