Case of primary extracranial meningioma of the maxillary sinus presenting as buccal swelling associated with headache:A case report

BACKGROUND Meningiomas are benign tumors that originate from the meningothelial arachnoid cells,but they rarely develop *** is no specific surgical guideline for resecting them in the maxillary sinus,and little is known about their biological behavior and operative *** SUMMARY We present a 54-year-old female patient referred to our department with a primary extracranial meningioma that presented as buccal swelling associated with *** clinical examination the mass was non-tender,fixed,sessile and non-pulsatile situating in the right maxillary *** tomography scan showed a well-defined mass of 7 cm×6 cm×6 cm compressing the surrounding *** resonance imaging revealed a well circumscribed heterogenous lesion with necrotic center and relatively hypointense on T2-weighted *** studies revealed no evidence of intracranial extension and metastatic *** showed grade I primary extracranial with low mitotic *** maxillectomy with excision of tumor and adjacent paranasal structures following reconstruction of the orbit and maxilla with tissue patch was done by the maxillofacial *** biopsy reported fibrous meningioma based on the hematoxylin and eosin *** immunohistochemistry the tumor cells were positive for vimentin,focally positive for epithelial membrane antigen and CD99 and negative for signal transducer and activator of transcription *** mass was removed surgically with reconstruction,and the pathological studies confirmed the diagnosis to be an extracranial *** present study briefly reviews the current knowledge concerning the diagnosis and treatment of extracranial meningiomas in the head and neck area and offers suggestions for managing extracranial meningiomas in the paranasal *** To conclude,extracranial meningiomas in the paranasal sinuses may be successfully managed by surgical treatment without evident post-surgery complications.

Nowadays, there are still many challenges to skin regeneration. As a new type of skin substitute, hydrogel has emerging gradually with its excellent properties. However, it is still a challenge to combine with biological active agents to facilitate skin regeneration. Under the circumstance, we synthesized argininebased poly(ester amide)(Arg-PEA) and hyaluronic acid(HA-MA), and combined them into new hybrid hydrogels via photo-crosslinking. We found that the internal structure and physicochemical properties of hybrid hydrogels were greatly improved with the increase of content of Arg-PEA. Therefore, we designed hybrid hydrogels with 5 wt% and 10 wt% of Arg-PEA content, respectively. Besides, we selected the corresponding anti-inflammatory(CRP, TNF-α) indicators to detect the anti-inflammatory properties of the hybrid hydrogels at the protein level, and the corresponding antioxidant indicators(SOD, GSH/GSSG, MDA)were selected to investigate the antioxidant properties of hybrid hydrogels at the cellular level in *** addition, we also selected relevant genes to test the effect of hybrid hydrogels on fibrosis and vascularization in the process of skin wound healing in vitro and verified them in vivo with a mouse dorsum wound model. The results confirmed that Arg-PEA/HA-MA(AH) hybrid hydrogel was a prospective scaffold material for skin regeneration.

An inverse analysis of fluid flow through granular media using differentiable lattice Boltzmann method

This study presents a method for the inverse analysis of fluid flow *** focus is put on accurately determining boundary conditions and characterizing the physical properties of granular media,such as permeability,and fluid components,like *** primary aim is to deduce either constant pressure head or pressure profiles,given the known velocity field at a steady-state flow through a conduit containing obstacles,including walls,spheres,and *** lattice Boltzmann method(LBM)combined with automatic differentiation(AD)(AD-LBM)is employed,with the help of the GPU-capable Taichi programming language.A lightweight tape is used to generate gradients for the entire LBM simulation,enabling end-to-end *** AD-LBM approach accurately estimates the boundary conditions for complex flow paths in porous media,leading to observed steady-state velocity fields and deriving macro-scale permeability and fluid *** method demonstrates significant advantages in terms of prediction accuracy and computational efficiency,making it a powerful tool for solving inverse fluid flow problems in various applications.

Constructing a biofunctionalized 3D-printed gelatin/sodium alginate/chitosan tri-polymer complex scaffold with improvised biological andmechanical properties for bone-tissue engineering

Sodium alginate(SA)/chitosan(CH)polyelectrolyte scaffold is a suitable substrate for tissue-engineering *** present study deals with further improvement in the tensile strength and biological properties of this type of scaffold to make it a potential template for bone-tissue *** experimented with adding 0%–15%(volume fraction)gelatin(GE),a protein-based biopolymer known to promote cell adhesion,proliferation,and *** resulting tri-polymer complex was used as bioink to fabricate SA/CH/GEmatrices by three-dimensional(3D)*** studies using scanning electron microscopy revealed the microfibrous porous architecture of all the structures,which had a pore size range of 383–419μm.X-ray diffraction and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy analyses revealed the amorphous nature of the scaffold and the strong electrostatic interactions among the functional groups of the polymers,thereby forming polyelectrolyte complexes which were found to improve mechanical properties and structural *** scaffolds exhibited a desirable degradation rate,controlled swelling,and hydrophilic characteristics which are favorable for bone-tissue *** tensile strength improved from(386±15)to(693±15)kPa due to the increased stiffness of SA/CH scaffolds upon addition of *** enhanced protein adsorption and in vitro bioactivity(forming an apatite layer)confirmed the ability of the SA/CH/GE scaffold to offer higher cellular adhesion and a bone-like environment to cells during the process of tissue *** vitro biological evaluation including the MTT assay,confocal microscopy analysis,and alizarin red S assay showed a significant increase in cell attachment,cell viability,and cell proliferation,which further improved biomineralization over the scaffold *** addition,SA/CH containing 15%gelatin designated as SA/CH/GE15 showed superior performance to the other fabricated 3D structures,demonstrating its pote

目的探讨驱血带梯式减压法在制备游离腓骨瓣中的应用效果。方法选取2020年12月至2022年8月于四川大学华西口腔医院头颈肿瘤外科住院的需行腓骨瓣游离移植术患者79例。将2020年12月至2021年5月住院的25例患者纳入对照组(术中未行驱血带减压),2021年6—11月住院的30例患者纳入梯式减压法组(术中驱血带分2次梯式减压),2021年12月至2022年8月住院的24例患者纳入一步法组(术中驱血带一次性减压)。记录并比较3组患者制备腓骨瓣手术时间、制备腓骨瓣手术区域出血量、整体手术时间、全手术区域出血量、腓骨瓣区域关创时间、制备腓骨瓣长度、软组织切口长度、术后第1天血红蛋白量、术后视觉模拟量表(VAS)评分、术后总引流量及术后第1、2、3天引流量的差异。结果在制备腓骨瓣手术时间、制备腓骨瓣手术区域出血量、腓骨瓣区域关创时间、术后总引流量、术后第1、2天引流量方面,3组间总的比较,差异均有统计学意义(均P <0.05)。其中,一步法组和梯式减压法组的制备腓骨瓣手术时间、制备腓骨瓣手术区域出血量均小于对照组,梯式减压法组的腓骨瓣区域关创时间、术后总引流量、术后第1、2天引流量均小于对照组,差异均有统计学意义(均P <0.05);梯式减压法组的制备腓骨瓣手术区域出血量、腓骨瓣区域关创时间、术后第1天引流量及术后总引流量均小于一步法组,差异均有统计学意义(均P <0.05)。且所有患者均一期愈合,未出现腓骨瓣坏死、术后出血、创口感染等并发症。结论使用驱血带梯式减压法制备游离腓骨瓣与驱血带一步法和未使用驱血带相比,可降低术中腓骨瓣制备区域出血量,且未增加其他不良反应的发生风险。

Plants require a number of essential elements in different proportions for ensuring their growth and *** elemental concentrations in leaves reflect the functions and adaptations of plants under specific environmental ***,less is known about how the spectrum of leaf elements associated with resource acquisition,photosynthesis and growth regulates forest biomass along broad elevational *** examined the influence of leaf element distribution and diversity on forest biomass by analyzing ten elements(C,N,P,K,Ca,Mg,Zn,Fe,Cu,and Mn)in tree communities situated every 100 meters along an extensive elevation gradient,ranging from the tropical forest(80 meters above sea level)to the alpine treeline(4200 meters above sea level)in the Kangchenjunga Landscape in eastern Nepal *** calculated communityweighted averages(reflecting dominant traits governing biomass,i.e.,mass-ratio effect)and functional divergence(reflecting increased trait variety,i.e.,complementarity effect)for leaf elements in a total of 1,859 trees representing 116 *** increasing mass-ratio effect and decreasing complementarity in leaf elements enhance forest biomass accumulation.A combination of elements together with elevation explains biomass(52.2%of the variance)better than individual elemental trait diversity(0.05%to 21%of the variance).Elevation modulates trait diversity among plant species in biomass *** promotes biomass at lower elevations,but reduces biomass at higher elevations,demonstrating an interaction between elevation and *** interaction between elevation and mass-ratio effect produces heterogeneous effects on biomass along the elevation *** research indicates that biomass accumulation can be disproportionately affected by elevation due to interactions among trait diversities across vegetation *** higher trait variation enhances the adaptation of species to environmental changes,it reduces

Improved Energy Management Strategy for Prosumer Buildings with Renewable Energy Sources and Battery Energy Storage Systems

The concept of utilizing microgrids(MGs)to convert buildings into prosumers is gaining massive popularity because of its economic and environmental *** pro-sumer buildings consist of renewable energy sources and usually install battery energy storage systems(BESSs)to deal with the uncertain nature of renewable energy ***,because of the high capital investment of BESS and the limitation of available energy,there is a need for an effective energy management strategy for prosumer buildings that maximizes the profit of building owner and increases the operating life span of *** this regard,this paper proposes an improved energy management strategy(IEMS)for the prosumer building to minimize the operating cost of MG and degradation factor of ***,to estimate the practical operating life span of BESS,this paper utilizes a non-linear battery degradation *** addition,a flexible load shifting(FLS)scheme is also developed and integrated into the proposed strategy to further improve its *** proposed strategy is tested for the real-time annual data of a grid-tied solar photovoltaic(PV)and BESS-powered AC-DC hybrid MG installed at a commercial ***,the scenario reduction technique is used to handle the uncertainty associated with generation and load *** validate the performance of the proposed strategy,the results of IEMS are compared with the well-established energy management *** simulation results verify that the proposed strategy substantially increases the profit of the building owner and operating life span of ***,FLS enhances the performance of IEMS by further improving the financial profit of MG owner and the life span of BESS,thus making the operation of prosumer building more economical and efficient.

Enhanced saturation magnetization in La3+ doped NiCo ferrites prepared by sol-gel auto-combustion method

Lanthanum doped nickel-cobalt nano ferrites with chemical formula Ni0.5Co0.5LaxFe2-xO4（x=0.05,0,10,0.15 and 0,20） were prepared using a simple sol-gel auto combustion *** basic structural properties were determined by X-ray diffraction method and the formation of single phased spinel ferrite was *** crystalline size decreased from 25 to 11 nm and lattice parameter a increases with increase of La *** surface morphology of these ferrites was observed by field-emission scanning electron microscopy（FESEM） and agglomerated irregular grains are observed with increase of the rare earth element La ***-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy（EDX） result confirms the presence of the required *** Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy（FTIR） spectrum indicates the formation of the spinel ferrite structure with M-O *** direct band measurements from ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy（UV-Vis） spectroscopy indicate that the direct band gap decreases from 1.39 to 1.19 eV for x=0.05 to x=0.15,then increases to 1.28 eV for x=*** room temperature magnetic properties of these ferrites were studied by a vibrating sample magnetometer（VSM）.The enhanced saturation magnetization of 49.73 emu/g is observed for x=0.10 and then saturation magnetizations are gradually decreased for x=0.15 and x=*** the remanent magnetization and coercivity also follow the same trend.

The choledochal cyst(CC)can be better termed as biliary tract malformation because of the close association of embryology and etiology in the causation of *** to Babbitt's postulation of reflux,damage and dilatation,reflux was not demonstrable as the causative factor in all varieties of *** pressure in the biliary system,otherwise termed ductal hypertension,is put forth as an alternative to explain the evolution of *** forme fruste type,which does not find a place in the standard classification,typifies the ductal hypertension *** a closer,in-depth review would be able to highlight this apt terminology of biliary tract malformation.
