Hyperhomocysteinemia dysregulates plasma levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids-derived eicosanoids

Hyperhomocysteinemia(HHcy)contributes to the incidence of many cardiovascular diseases(CVD).Our group have previously established crucial roles of eicosanoids and homocysteine in the incidence of vascular injury in diabetic retinopathy and renal *** cystathionine-β-synthase heterozygous mice(cβs^(+/-))as a model of HHcy,the current study was designed to determine the impact of homocysteine on circulating levels of lipid mediators derived from polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFA).Plasma samples were isolated from wild-type(WT)and cβs^(+/-)mice for the assessment of eicosanoids levels using LC/*** 12/15-lipoxygenase(12/15-LOX)activity significantly decreased in cβs^(+/-)*** control ***-derived metabolites from both omega-3 and omega-6 PUFA were also reduced in cβs^(+/-)mice compared to WT control(P<0.05).Contrary to LOX metabolites,cytochrome P450(CYP)metabolites from omega-3 and omega-6 PUFA were significantly elevated in cβs^(+/-)mice compared to WT *** acids(EETs)are epoxides derived from arachidonic acid(AA)metabolism by CYP with anti-inflammatory properties and are known to limit vascular injury,however their physiological role is limited by their rapid degradation by soluble epoxide hydrolase(sEH)to their corresponding diols(DiHETrEs).In cβs^(+/-)mice,a significant decrease in the plasma EETs bioavailability was obvious as evident by the decrease in EETs/DiHETrEs ratio relative to WT control ***(COX)metabolites were also significantly decreased in cβs^(+/-)*** control *** data suggest that HHcy impacts eicosanoids metabolism through decreasing LOX and COX metabolic activities while increasing CYP metabolic *** increase in AA metabolism by CYP was also associated with increase in sEH activity and decrease in EETs *** of eicosanoids metabolism could be a contributing factor to the incidence and progression of HHcy-induced CVD.

Modeling and multi-response optimization of machining performance while turning hardened steel with self-propelled rotary tool

There are many advanced tooling approaches in metal cutting to enhance the cutting tool performance for machining hard-to-cut materials. The self propelled rotary tool （SPRT） is one of the novel approaches to improve the cutting tool performance by providing cutting edge in the form of a disk, which rotates about its principal axis and provides a rest period for the cutting edge to cool and allow engaging a fresh cutting edge with the work piece. This paper aimed to present the cutting performance of SPRT while turning hardened EN24 steel and optimize the machining conditions. Surface roughness （Ra） and metal removal rate （rMMR） are considered as machining perfor- mance parameters to evaluate, while the horizontal incli- nation angle of the SPRT, depth of cut, feed rate and spindle speed are considered as process variables. Initially, design of experiments （DOEs） is employed to minimize the number of experiments. For each set of chosen process variables, the machining experiments are conducted on computer numerical control （CNC） lathe to measure the machining responses. Then, the response surface method- ology （RSM） is used to establish quantitative relationships for the output responses in terms of the input variables. Analysis of variance （ANOVA） is used to check the adequacy of the model. The influence of input variables on the output responses is also determined. Consequently, these models are formulated as a multi-response optimi- zation problem to minimize the Ra and maximize the rMMR simultaneously. Non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II （NSGA-II） is used to derive the set of Pareto-optimal solutions. The optimal results obtained through the pro- posed methodology are also compared with the results of validation experimental runs and good correlation is found between them.

Simultaneous optimization of multiple performance characteristics in WEDM for machining ZC63/SiC_p MMC

Abstract The compliance of an integrated approach, principal component analysis （PCA）, coupled with Tagu chi＇s robust theory for simultaneous optimization of cor related multiple responses of wire electrical discharge machining （WEDM） process for machining SiCp rein forced ZC63 metal matrix composites （MMCs） is investi gated in this work. The WEDM is proven better for its efficiency to machine MMCs among others, while the particulate size and volume percentage of SiCp with the composite are the utmost important factors. These improve the mechanical properties enormously, however reduce the machining performance. Hence the WEDM experiments are conducted by varying the particulate size, volume fraction, pulseon time, pulseoff time and wire tension. In the view of quality cut, the most important performance indicators of WEDM as surface roughness （Ra）, metal removal rate （MRR）, wire wear ratio （WWR）, kerf （Kw） and white layer thickness （WLT） are measured as respon ses. PCA is used as multiresponse optimization technique to derive the composite principal component （CPC） which acts as the overall quality index in the process. Consequently, Taguchi＇s S/N ratio analysis is applied to optimize the CPC. The derived optimal process responses are confirmed by the experimental validation tests results. The analysis of vari ance is conducted to find the effects of choosing process variables on the overall quality of the machined *** practical possibility of the derived optimal process conditions is also presented using SEM.

Passive activity enhances residual control ability in patients with complete spinal cord injury

Patients with complete spinal cord injury retain the potential for volitional muscle activity in muscles located below the spinal injury ***,because of prolonged inactivity,initial attempts to activate these muscles may not effectively engage any of the remaining neurons in the descending pathway.A previous study unexpectedly found that a brief clinical round of passive activity significantly increased volitional muscle activation,as measured by surface *** this study,we further explored the effect of passive activity on surface electromyographic signals during volitional control tasks among individuals with complete spinal cord *** patients with chronic complete thoracic spinal cord injury were *** electromyography data from eight major leg muscles were acquired and compared before and after the passive activity *** results indicated that the passive activity led to an increased number of activated volitional muscles and an increased frequency of *** the cumulative root mean square of surface electromyography amplitude for volitional control of movement showed a slight increase after passive activity,the difference was not statistically *** findings suggest that brief passive activity may enhance the ability to initiate volitional muscle activity during surface electromyography tasks and underscore the potential of passive activity for improving residual motor control among patients with motor complete spinal cord injury.

We report the picosecond laser ablation of aluminum targets immersed in a polar organic liquid(chloroform,CHCl3)with^2 ps laser pulses at an input energy of^350μ*** synthesized aluminum nanoparticles exhibited a surface plasmon resonance peak at^340 *** electron microscopy images of Al nanoparticles demonstrated the spherical morphology with an average size of(27±3.6)*** formation of smaller spherical Al nanoparticles and the diminished growth could be from the formation of electric double layers on the Al *** addition to spherical aluminum nanoparticles,triangular/pentagonal/hexagonal nanoparticles were also observed in the colloidal *** emission scanning electron microscopy images of ablated Al targets demonstrated laser induced periodic surface structures(LIPSSs),which were the high spatial frequency LIPSSs(HSF-LIPSSs)since their grating period was^280 ***,coarse structures with a period of^700 nm were observed.

Inertisation options for BG method and optimisation using CFD modelling

Spontaneous combustion(sponcom) is one of the issues of concern with the blasting gallery(BG) method of coal mining and has the potential to cause fires, and impact on production and safety, greenhouse gas(GHG) emissions and huge costs involved in controlling the aftermath situations. Some of the research attempts made to prevent and control coal mine fires and spontaneous combustion in thick seams worked with bord and pillar mining methods are presented in this paper. In the study, computational fluid dynamics(CFD) modelling techniques were used to simulate and assess the effects of various mining methods, layouts, designs, and different operational and ventilation parameters on the flow of goaf gases in BG panels. A wide range of parametric studies were conducted to develop proactive strategies to control and prevent ingress of oxygen into the goaf area preventing spontaneous combustion and mine fires.

ETP-AKEP: enhanced three-party authenticated key exchange protocols for data integrity in cloud environments

With key exchange protocols, a secure session key is generated between two remote users, andservers and exchanged between them. It is generally used to prevent unauthorised users fromgaining access to sensitive data. This article presents an enhanced three-party authenticated keyexchange protocols (ETP-AKE) protocol that does not depend on symmetric key encryption andinstead uses asymmetric key encryption. A key component of the proposed ETP-AKE protocol isusing elliptic curve encryption in conjunction with a one-way hash function. Its integrity certificationwas confirmed via the usage of the AVISPA tool package. Our proposed protocol is intendedto protect against various security threats, including the man-in-the-middle assault, the parallelattack, and the key-compromise attack, among others.

We examined the reproductive biology of sawcheek scorpionfish,Brachypterois serrulata,collected from Visakhapatnam fish landing center(fishing area covered 16.98°-20.20°N,82.19°-86.53°E).We studied the annual reproductive cycle,fecundity,size at first maturity,mode of spawning with periodical changes and histological *** distribution and size at sexual maturity were calculated as 108 mm TL for *** mean gonado somatic index values of female increased rapidly from January to December,and reached its peak during January and *** fecundity of the fish species is determined by the size and weight of the *** fecundity varied from 1896 to 20,488,with an average of 5721.90 ova.
