In-silico clearing approach for deep refractive index tomography by partial reconstruction and wave-backpropagation

Refractive index(RI)is considered to be a fundamental physical and biophysical parameter in biological imaging,as it governs light-matter interactions and light propagation while reflecting cellular *** tomography enables volumetric visualization of RI distribution,allowing biologically relevant analysis of a ***,multiple scattering(MS)and sample-induced aberration(SIA)caused by the inhomogeneity in RI distribution of a thick sample make its visualization *** paper proposes a deep RI tomographic approach to overcome MS and SIA and allow the enhanced reconstruction of thick samples compared to that enabled by conventional linear-model-based RI *** proposed approach consists of partial RI reconstruction using multiple holograms acquired with angular diversity and their backpropagation using the reconstructed partial RI map,which unambiguously reconstructs the next partial *** this operation efficiently reconstructs the entire RI tomogram while suppressing MS and *** visualized a multicellular spheroid of diameter 140μm within minutes of reconstruction,thereby demonstrating the enhanced deep visualization capability and computational efficiency of the proposed method compared to those of conventional RI ***,we quantified the high-RI structures and morphological changes inside multicellular spheroids,indicating that the proposed method can retrieve biologically relevant information from the RI *** from the excellent biological interpretability of RI distributions,the label-free deep visualization capability of the proposed method facilitates a noninvasive understanding of the architecture and time-course morphological changes of thick multicellular specimens.

Diarrheal diseases can be transmitted via both primary infection due to exposures to contaminated materials from the environment and secondary infection due to person- to-person contacts. Usually, the importance of secondary infection is empirically assessed by fitting mathematical models to the epidemic curves. However, these empirical models may not be applicable to other epidemic cases because they are developed only for the target epidemics and they don＇t consider the detail routes of infection. In our previous study, we developed a theoretical model taking into account the various routes of infection that commonly occur in households （e.g., shaking hands, food handling, and changing diapers）. This model was made flexible and applicable to any epidemics by means of adjusting model parameters. In this study, we proposed a new index ＂Vulnerability indicator to secondary infection （VISI）＂, which expressed a ratio of secondary infection to primary infection risks and calculated this index in a simulated norouirus （NOV） epidemic that involved I0,000 households. The results demonstrated that households composed of more than three members including infant（s） had much higher levels of VlSl （5-45） than two-member-households with VlSI （0.1-4）. These results concluded that the infants were likely to be a hub of secondary infections in highly dense families and therefore careful handling of diapers was deemed indispensible in such families to effectively control the secondary infections.

We have newly designed an electrostatic sensor,called an electric field mill(EFM),to simplify the estimation of the charge position and charge amount transferred by lightning *** is necessary for this remote estimation of the transferred charge to measure electric field changes caused by charge loss at the time of a lightning strike at multiple *** multiple-station measurement of electric field changes,not only speed but also phase for exposure and shielding of the sensing plates inside each EFM of the array should be synchronized to maintain the sensitivities of the deployed ***,there is no such EFM with specified speed and phase control performance of the rotary ***,we developed a new EFM in which the rotary mechanism was controlled consistently to within 3%error by a GPS *** EFMs had been distributed in the Hokuriku area of Japan during the winter season of 2022-2023 for a test *** we describe the design and a simple calibration method for our new EFM *** analysis method based on the assumption of a simple monopole charge structure is also *** validation,locations of assumed point charges were compared with three-dimensional lightning mapping data estimated by radio observations in the MF-HF *** results indicated the validity to estimate transferred charge amounts and positions of winter cloud-to-ground lightning discharges with our new EFM array.

Inspired by the transport behavior of water and ions through the aligned channels in trees,we demonstrate a facile,scalable approach for constructing biomorphic cellular Si_(3)N_(4) ceramic frameworks with well-aligned nanowhisker arrays on the surface of directionally aligned microchannel *** a facile Y(NO_(3))_(3) solution infiltration into wood-derived carbon preforms and subsequent heat treatment,we can faultlessly duplicate the anisotropic wood architectures into free-standing bulk porous Si_(3)N_(4) ***,α-Si3N4 microchannels were synthesized on the surface of CB-templates via carbothermal reduction nitridation(CRN).And then,homogeneous distributed Y–Si–O–N liquid phase on the walls of microchannel facilitated the anisotropicβ-Si3N4 grain growth to form nanowhisker *** dense aligned microchannels with low-tortuosity enable excellent load carrying capacity and thermal conduction through the entire *** a result,the porous Si_(3)N_(4) ceramics exhibited an outstanding thermal conductivity(TC,k_(R)≈6.26 W·m^(−1)·K^(−1)),a superior flexural strength(σ_(L)≈29.4 MPa),and a relative high anisotropic ratio of TC(k_(R)/k_(L)=4.1).The orientation dependence of the microstructure–property relations may offer a promising perspective for the fabrication of multifunctional ceramics.
