The primary focus during surgery is to ensure successful implantation by achieving long-term and stable fixation of *** surgery is now more focused on the development of novel biomaterials intended to improve implant *** obtain a better understanding of metal implants,this article investigated the causes of material failures in certain cases and analysed a few case *** interaction between the implant and bone tissue was a crucial aspect of successful implantation,and this study explored the factors influencing this interaction as well as ways to improve *** modern approaches used for modifying implant surfaces were systematically illustrated and briefly *** spray coatings were often favoured because of their wide range of coating materials,but other substantial surface modifications(such as friction stir processing and laser surface texturing)were also used for a selection of ***,implant surfaces with desirable features,such as biocompatibility,antibacterial properties,corrosion resistance,and wear resistance,were essential for optimising implant *** systematic review's main aim is to provide exhaustive reference information and a broad overview to advance the production and design of orthopaedic implants.

Understanding Performance for Two 802.11 Competing Flows

It is well known that 802.11 suffers from both inefficiency and unfairness in the face of competition and interference. This paper provides a detailed analysis of the impact of topology and traffic type on network performance when two flows compete with each other for airspace. We consider both TCP and UDP flows and a comprehensive set of node topologies. We vary these topologies to consider all combinations of the following four node-to-node interactions：（1） nodes unable to read or sense each other, （2） nodes able to sense each other but not able to read each other＇s packets and nodes able to communicate with （3） weak and with （4） strong signal. We evaluate all possible cases through simulation and show that the cases can be reduced to 9 UDP and 10 TCP 802.11g models with similar efficiency/fairness characteristics. We also validate our simulation results with extensive experiments conducted in a laboratory testbed. These more detailed models improve on previous work such as hidden-/exposed-terminal categorization and are thus better suited as a basis for adaptive techniques to improve performance in 802.11 multi-hop WLAN or Mesh Networks.

Gamma glutamyl transferases （GGT） are highly conserved enzymes that occur from bacteria to humans. They remove terminal y-glutamyl residue from peptides and amides. GGTs play an important role in the homeostasis of glutathione （a major cellular antioxidant） and in the detoxification of xenobiotics in mammals. They are implicated in diseases like diabetes, inflammation, neurodegenerative diseases and cardiovascular diseases. The physiological role of GGTs in bacteria is still unclear. Nothing is known about the basis for the strong conservation of the enzyme across the living system. The review focuses on the enzyme＇s physiology, chemistry and structural properties of the enzyme with emphasis on the evolutionary relationships. The available data indicate that the members of the GGT family share common structural features but are functionally heterogenous.

Projective change between two Finsler metrics arises from Information Geom-etry. such metrics have special geometric properties and will play an important role in Finsler geometry. The purpose of the present paper is to find a relation to characterize the projective change between generalized (α, β) - metric ( μ1, μ2 and μ3 ≠ 0 are constants) and Randers metric , where α and are two Riemannian metrics, β and are 1-forms. Further, we study such projective change when generalized (α, β) -metric F has some curvature property.

A 59-year-old male presented with complaints of trismus and discharge of altered blood from nose for 1 year. Patient had a history of facial trauma one year back. Nasal endoscopy and CT scan revealed a foreign body lodged in posterior half of both nasal cavity, left maxillary sinus and left infratemporal fossa penetrating the walls of maxillary sinus and nasal septum. Foreign body was removed by infratemporal fossa approach. This case has a rare location of a forgotten foreign body with atypical presentation.

Objective: Waiting to look young is not a new idea;the search for effective treatments prolonging youthfulness has been going on over many decades. Many scientific evidences have been suggestive of intensive or prolonged mind and body therapies (MBT) improving overall wellness and have anti-aging effects. However, the genetic basis of MBT-induced anti-aging and youthfulness are largely unknown. It is also known that aging adversely affects hematopoiesis in human through controlling compromised hematopoietic stem cells (HsC) and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMNC’s). In this paper, we focus on evaluating changes in the expression levels of a critical panel of genes that regulates aging in PBMNC’s isolated from participants from MBT program. Design: Here, we have investigated the effects of a short intensive MBT program on aging related gene expression changes in the peripheral blood stem cells using affymetrix DNA microarray platform. A total of 108 people selected form many ethnicities were enrolled in the study;38 men and 70 women (aged 18 - 90) randomly assigned for the study. PBMNC’s were collected from the volunteers before and after the completion of the MBT program and evaluated for meditation by examining gene expression patterns in peripheral blood stem cells. Results: Critical pathways known to regulate aging process such as pro-inflammatory TNF alpha/NF-kB, IL-12 signaling pathway, hypoxic HIF-1-alpha, key regulator of programmed cell death, C-MYC, and P38 MAPK (mitogen-activated protein kinase) signaling pathway found to be dysregulated in the cohorts compared to subjects prior to MBT program. Furthermore, GATA-2 and Bmi1, key regulators of hemtopoiesis and adult stem cells numbers, went up in the mediated group. Additionally, key pro-inflammatory mediators IFN? and sTAT-2 went down in the mediated group. Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB) incidence among tribal patients is high owing to their social and geographic vulnerability. Ensuring adherence to TB treatment among them remains a challenging task as it is dependent on socio-cultural and environmental factors. Objective: 1) To know the individuals’ perception of TB disease and anti-TB treatment;2) To explore the personal, social, family and cultural factors influencing on patient’s treatment adherence;3) To identify the challenges faced by health care providers in delivering services to the tribal population. Material and Methods: A descriptive qualitative study conducted among tribal patients (n = 16) and health providers (n = 6) of Manathavady TB unit, Wayanad District of Kerala. The data were collected through in-depth interviews (IDIs), audio-recorded in Malayalam, transcribed verbatim and translated into English. Transcripts were analysed using manual descriptive content analysis. Results: Most of the patients were oriented about the importance of completing TB treatment though lacked awareness about its causation. The supportive attitude of the community further encouraged them to continue TB treatment. However, substance abuse emerged as the biggest challenge to treatment adherence particularly among males. While accessibility to the health system, animal confrontation, and disaster risk emerged as barriers owing to the geographic landscape of the community, health services were found to be acceptable, available and affordable to all the patients. No stigma or discrimination was perceived by the patients at family, community and health system level. However, their beliefs in herbal medicines and conduct of certain rituals delayed them for seeking care. The personal commitment of the health care staff helped the TB patients to adhere better with the treatment thereby yielding best results.
