Vegetated treatment area (VTAs) efficiencies for E. coli and nutrient removal on small-scale swine operations

As small-scale animal feeding operations work to manage their byproducts and avoid regulation, they need practical, cost-effective methods to reduce environmental impact. One such option is using vege-tative treatment areas (VTAs) with perennial grasses to treat runoff;however, research is limited on VTA effectiveness as a waste management alternative for smaller operations. This study evaluated the effi-ciencies of VTAs in reducing bacteria and nutrient runoff from small-scale swine operations in three counties in Central Texas. Based on 4 yr of runoff data, the Bell and Brazos VTAs significantly reduced loads and concentrations of E. coli and nutrients (except NO3-N) and had treatment efficiencies of 73–94%. Most notably, the Bell VTA reduced loads of E. coli, NH4-N, PO4-P, total N, and total P similar to that of the background (control). In spite of significant reductions, runoff from the Brazos VTA had higher concentrations and loads than the control site, especially following installation of concrete pens and increased pen washing, which produced standing water and increased E. coli and nutrient influx. The Robertson VTA produced fewer significant reductions and had lower treatment efficiencies (29–69%);however, E. coli and nutrient concentrations and loads leaving this VTA were much lower than observed at the Bell and Brazos County sites due to alternative solids management and enclosed pens. Based on these results and previous research, VTAs can be practical, effective waste management alternatives for reducing nutrient and bacteria losses from small-scale animal operations, but only if properly designed and managed.

A duplex surface treatment involves the sequential application of two surface technologies to produce a surface composition with combined properties. A typical duplex process involves plasma nitriding and the PVd coating treatment of steels. In the paper are presented characteristics of hard coatings, type TiN, produced by classic technology PVd (physical vapour deposition) and IBAd (ion beam assisted deposition). Subsequent ion implantation was provided with N5* ions. The dependence of friction coefficient was investigated by means of tribometer (pin-on-ring). The sliding pair was TiN thin coating on steel pin combined with steel ring without coating. The ring was produced from hardenable steel.

Introduction Patients with acute ischaemic strokes(AIS),on average,fare better with timely neurologist consultation,and a growing proportion of them receive ***,little is known about trends in the characteristics of neurologists who treat *** We identified AIS and transient ischaemic attack(TIA)episodes with neurologist consults in fee-for service Medicare from January 2008 to September *** each episode,we determined whether the neurologist was a vascular neurologist,was a high-volume provider,whether the patient was transferred between hospitals and the distance between the patient’s home and physician’s *** From 2008 to 2021,the share of AIS/TIA episodes(n=5073294)with neurologist consults increased(52.9%to 61.7%).Among episodes with consults,the fraction conducted by a vascular neurologist(5.2%to 13.7%)or by a high-volume neurologist(13.2%to 14.9%)also *** fraction with the patient’s home and neurologist greater than 100 miles apart(4.8%to 9.6%)or in different states(5.1%to 8.1%)increased,as did the fraction with transfers(4.2%to 8.5%).discussion Over the study period,the proportion of AIS/TIA episodes with consultations from neurologists with either vascular neurology certifications or high volumes increased substantially.

Interactivity is the most significant feature of network data,especially in social *** network embedding methods have achieved remarkable results in learning network structure and node attributes,but do not pay attention to the multi-interaction between nodes,which limits the extraction and mining of potential deep interactions between *** tackle the problem,we propose a method called Multi-Interaction heterogeneous information Network Embedding(MINE).Firstly,we introduced the multi-interactions heterogeneous information network and extracted complex heterogeneous relation sequences by the multi-interaction extraction ***,we use a well-designed multi-relationship network fusion model based on the attention mechanism to fuse multiple interactional ***,applying a multitasking model makes the learned vector contain richer semantic relationships.A large number of practical experiments prove that our proposed method outperforms existing methods on multiple data sets.

H→γγ:a comment on the indeterminacy of non-gauge-invariant integrals

We reanalyze the recent computation of the amplitude of the higgs boson decay into two photons presented by Gastmans et al. [1, 2]. The reasons for why this result cannot be the correct one have been discussed in some recent papers. We address here the general issue of the indeterminacy of integrals with four-dimensional gauge-breaking regulators and to which extent it might eventually be solved by imposing physical constraints. Imposing gauge invariance as the last step upon Rξ-gauge calculations with four-dimensional gauge-breaking regulators, allows us to recover the well known H→γγ result. However we show that in the particular case of the unitary gauge, the indeterminacy cannot be tackled in the same way. The combination of the unitary gauge with a cutoff regularization scheme turns out to be non-predictive.

Large signal of h → μτ within the constraints of e_(i) → e_(j)γ decays in the 3-3-1 model with neutral leptons

In the framework of the 3-3-1 model with neutral leptons,we investigate lepton-flavor-violating sources based on the higgs mass spectrum,which has two neutral higgs identified with the corresponding ones of the two-higgs-doublet *** note that at the 13TeV scale of the LHC,the parameter space regions satisfy the experimental limits of e_(i)→e_(j)γ*** regions depend heavily on the mixing of exotic leptons but are predicted to have large h_(1)^(0)→μτ*** also show that Br(h_(1)^(0)→μτ)can reach a value of 10^(-4).

Revealing pion and kaon structure via generalised parton distributions

Clear windows onto emergent hadron mass(EHM)and modulations thereof by higgs boson interactions are provided by observable measures of pion and kaon structure,many of which are accessible via generalised parton distributions(GPds).Beginning with algebraic GPd Ansätze,constrained entirely by hadron-scaleπand K valence-parton distribution functions(dFs),in whose forms both EHM and.higgs boson influences are manifest,numerous illustrations are *** include the properties of electromagnetic form factors,impact parameter space GPds,gravitational form factors and associated pressure profiles,and the character and consequences of allorders *** analyses predict that mass-squared gravitational form factors are stiffer than electromagnetic form factors;reveal that K pressure profiles are tighter than profiles,with both mesons sustaining near-core pressures at magnitudes similar to that expected at the core of neutron stars;deliver parameter-free predictions for and K valence,glue,and sea GPds at the resolving scale l=2GeV;and predict that at this scale the fraction of meson mass-squared carried by glue and sea combined matches that lodged with the valence degrees-of-freedom,with a similar statement holding for mass-squared radii.

A private SUSY 4HdM with FCNC in the up-sector

We present a SUSY model with four higgs doublets of the"private type,"in which all fermion types(up,down,and charged leptons)obtain their masses from a different higgs doublet H_f(f=u_1,d,e) .The conditions for anomaly cancellation imply that the remaining higgs doublet of the model( H_(u_2) )must have the same hypercharge as H_(u_1) ,and thus,can only couple to up-type quarks,which opens the possibility to have FCNCs only in this *** study the Lagrangian of the model,and in particular,the higgs potential,to identify the higgs mass-eigenstates and their interactions;for the Yukawa matrices,we consider the four-texture *** obtain constraints on the model parameters by using LHC measurements on the properties of the 125 GeV higgs boson(h),and identify viable regions of the parameter ***,these constraints are used to evaluate the prospects for detecting the FCNC decay mode t→ch at the future high-luminosity(HL)option for the LHC,which are compared with current limits from ***,we evaluate the FCNC decay of the next heavier higgs boson H_(2)→tc ,which can typically reach BR(H_2→tc)≈(10^(-4)-10^(-5)) .The search for the signal at HL-LHC is also studied,and it is found that it may be detectable for specific regions of the model parameter space.
