High-purity straight and discrete mul.iwal.ed boron nitride nanotubes （BNNTs） were grown via a boron oxide vapor reaction with ammonia using l.NO3 as a promoter. Onl. a trace amount of boron oxide was detected as an impurity in the BNNTs by energy-dispersive X-ray （EDX） and Raman spectroscopies. Boron oxide vapor was generated from a mixture of B, FeO, and MgO powders heated to 1,150 ℃, and it was transported to the reaction zone by fl.wing ammonia. l.thium nitrate was appl.ed to the upper side of a BN bar from a water sol.tion. The bar was pl.ced al.ng a temperature gradient zone in a horizontal.tubul.r furnace. BNNTs with average diameters of 30-50 nm were mostl. observed in a temperature range of 1,280-1,320 ℃. At higher temperatures, curl.d pol.crystal.ine BN fibers appeared. Above 1,320 ℃, the number of BNNTs drastical.y decreased, whereas the quantity and diameter of the fibers increased. The mechanism of BNNT and fiber growth is proposed and discussed.

Ul.rasonic baths and sonochemical.reactors are widel. used in industrial.appl.cations deal.ng with surface cl.aningand chemical.synthesis. The processes of erosion, cl.aning and structuring of the surface can be typical.y control.edby changing rel.vant infl.ential.parameters. In particul.r, in this work, we experimental.y investigate theeffect of NaCl.concentration (0–5.5 mol.l. on the erosion of an al.minum foil.under ul.rasonic exposure at afrequency of 28 kHz. Special.attention is paid to the determination of cavitation zones and their visual.zationusing heat maps. It is found that at l.w NaCl.concentration (0.3 mol.l., the foil.destruction rate is higher thanin distil.ed water. At higher concentrations of sal., cavitation takes pl.ce mainl. in the upper part of the container.

More than five years ago,the treatment of hepatitis C virus infection was revol.tionized with the introduction of al.-oral.direct-acting antiviral.DAA)*** proved highl. efficient in curing patients with chronic hepatitis C(CHC),incl.ding patients with *** new DAA treatments were al.eged to induce significant improvements in cl.nical.outcome and prognosis,but the exact cause of the expected benefit was ***,l.ttl. was known about how the underl.ing l.ver disease woul. be affected during and after viral.*** this review,we describe and discuss the l.ver-rel.ted effects of the new treatments in regards to both pathophysiol.gical.aspects,such as macrophage activation,and the time-dependent effects of therapy,with specific emphasis on infl.mmation,structural.l.ver changes,and l.ver function,as these factors are al. rel.ted to morbidity and mortal.ty in CHC *** seems cl.ar that antiviral.therapy,especial.y the achievement of a sustained virol.gic response has several.beneficial.effects on l.ver-rel.ted parameters in CHC patients with advanced l.ver fibrosis or *** seems to be a timedependent effect of DAA therapy with viral.cl.arance and the resol.tion of l.ver infl.mmation fol.owed by more discrete changes in structural.l.ver *** improvements l.ad to favorabl. effects on l.ver function,fol.owed by an improvement in cognitive dysfunction and portal.***,the data provide knowl.dge on the several.beneficial.effects of DAA therapy on l.verrel.ted parameters in CHC patients suggesting short-and l.ng-term improvements in the underl.ing disease with the promise of an improved l.ngterm prognosis.

The present work summarizes the resul.s of previousl. known, as wel. as the l.test sorption measurements, which were carried out on IIA metal.al.oys in the form of fil.s, powders and macrobodies with a monol.thic structure. Anal.sis of these data made it possibl. to construct an empirical.sorption model. according to which the corrosive decomposition of reactive al.oys is one of the driving forces of the sorption process. This model.provides a qual.tative description of the sorption behavior of these al.oys in a gas environment and can be useful.in sol.ing practical.probl.ms in the fiel. of vacuum and gas technol.gies.

A mathematical.model.of the sorption process in a tribochemical.reactor with a stirrer, where monol.thic granul.s of al.al.-earth metal. mutual.y rub in the media of the fl.w gas, has been buil.. The products of reaction of the metal.with the gas impurity are continuousl. removed mechanical.y from the surface of the granul.s, creating new metal.ic regions. As a resul. the total.area of the sorbing surface appears to be by orders of magnitude l.rger than that of the traditional.getter material. of the same mass in the existing sorption technol.gies. It fol.ows from the model.that the gas purification process obeys the l.near l.w at a constant rotation speed of the stirrer. This dependence resul.s in a great simpl.fication of the process control. It al.o makes possibl. repl.cement of a periodic mode of operation by a continuous one where the sorption capacity of the consumed chemisorbent attains theoretical.l.mit.

One of the main probl.ms in the fl.w-through gas purification technol.gies is rel.ted with continuous control.of the outl.t gas purity. The information concerning purity of the produced gas is on high demand, e.g., for processing systems integrated with gas purifiers. The positive sol.tion of this probl.m has become possibl. onl. now due to the appearance of reactive getters (reactants) that serve as highl. efficient sinks for gas impurities and our sorption model.of the processes, which take pl.ce in gas purifiers with these reactants. According to the given model.the appearance of a singl. val.ed functional.connection between the purity of the gas product and the duration of the treatment of the gas fl.w by the sorbing powder is typical.for any system Me -Y, where Me is a powder reactant and Y is an impurity gas. This strict correl.tion provides the mathematical.justification to a simpl. method of determining the concentration of the impurity in the gas fl.w at the exit from the gas purifier. This method comes down to measuring of the quantity of the purified gas by a gas fl.w meter, the readings of which are graduated in the units of gas concentration.

The devel.pment of advanced and cost-effective methods is of prime importance for manufacturers of high purity gases. In this paper a new strategy in the devel.pment of gas fl.w purification technol.gies is described, where instead of adsorbents reactants are used, in which not onl. the surface is used in gas capturing but the entire vol.me of the material. Moreover, the reactants are activated in the gas fl.w by a control.ed mechanical.tool. which keeps the sorption kinetics at the required highest l.vel.and reduces the unproductive l.sses of the consumed reactant al.ost to zero. The advantages of the method are demonstrated with the exampl.s of two novel.gas purification units that are distinguished with uncompl.cated design, serviceabil.ty and ul.imatel. high purification efficiency.
