Logic as an Art and Logic as a Science＂ Is It Only Precedents or Tradition？

Nowadays the answer to the question ＂what is logic？＂ seems very simple and obvious--＂logic is a science,＂ and after that usually one says what is this science about. As for the expressions ＂logic is an art＂ or ＂the art of logic,＂ then they are only metaphors or some kind of ＂facon de parler＂ used in serious scientific discourse. One of my aims here is to trace （on the base of as authentic texts as a commentator literature） the line of development of dichotomy ＂logic as an art--logic as a science＂ and to demonstrate that both these feat uses of logic have fundamental historical roots and play very important conceptual role in any theorizing about logic. Despite the fact that （modern） logic is undoubtedly a science, it can be interpreted as an art, moreover, the analysis of logic from this point of view expands, it seems to me, the researching possibilities in the field of the philosophy of logic at least in better understanding what is logic, what creates its unity independently from the historical period of its development, topics, and methods.

Androgen-dependent male sexual traits （STs） as well as immunocompetence are theoreticallyassumed to be key indicators of a male＇s quality for the mate-choosing female. We studied matechoice by sexually motivated （SM） females of Campbell＇s dwarf hamsters. Females chose between2 tethered male siblings that differed in expression of STs. Males were unrelated to the female andable to contact and copulate with her. In both males, we measured sex-related morphology ofbody mass, mid-ventral specific skin gland, ano-genital distance, and external testicular *** also estimated levels of blood testosterone and cortisol, specific T- and B-cell immune re-sponses to antigens, as well as aggressive and sexual dominance in sibling males through add-itional encounter experiments with another SM female （male sibs could freely compete for thefemale）. We found that SM females chose a partner among 2 male sibs and spent over 80% of theirtime on average with the preferred male compared with the non-preferred one. Her choice was notassociated with the first visit of the chosen male, with a higher expression of sex-related traits,higher levels of blood testosterone, or with aggressive dominance. The choice was not associatedwith the intensity of T-cell immune response to phitohemagglutinin （PHA）. Instead there was a ten-dency for a negative relationship with the expression of STs and B-cell response to the antigenchallenge. The only character that unambiguously influenced female choice was the non-aggressive male to female grooming during sexual contact. There was no difference in breedingsuccess between preferred and non-preferred males paired with virgin females.

Atomic Force Microscope （AFM） is a relatively new technique for investigation of construction materials. In this study AFM was used to investigate the interaction of asphalt binder with fly ash. Fly ash is a coal combustion byproduct of electric power utilities having pozzolanic properties and commonly used in Portland cement concrete. In this study, an investigation was made by using different types of fly ash with two types of asphalt binders such as PG 58-28 and PG 64-28. Asphalt microstructure is divided into four subgroups such as Saturates, Aromatics, Resins and Asphaltenes （SARA）. These four phases can be distinguished by the atomic force microscope. The interaction of these phases affected by introducing fly-ash was investigated and correlation with rheological properties was observed.

Experimental approach to investigation of NLCI （Non-local Consciousness Influence） effects is based on sensors of different design, and most of it based on transitional effects in gas-discharge plasma with several quasi-stable states is also presented. Computerized device for detecting NLCI is based on commercially available Gas Discharge Camera （***） and allows following time dynamics of several sensors in NLCI conditions. The typical sensors are： water, air, earth, and wood, this instrument was named ＂The 5th Element＂. Readings are taken continuously by special software every five or ten seconds in automatic mode. Sensitivity of the device was tested by detecting the influence of total sun eclipse in Siberia in 2008 and by detecting sunrise and sunset. Several experimental modalities have been developed：（1） directed NLCI of a person; （2） directed NLCI of a group of people; and （3） non-directed NLCI of a group of people. Experiments during many years demonstrated efficiency of the developed approach.

About One Discrete Mathematical Model of Perfect Fluid

In work, it is constructed a discrete mathematical model of motion of a perfect fluid. The fluid is represented as an ensemble of identical so-called liquid particles, which are in the form of extended geometrical objects: circles and spheres for two-dimensional and three-dimensional cases, respectively. The mechanism of interaction between the liquid particles on a binary level and on the level of the n-cluster is formulated. This mechanism has previously been found by the author as part of the mathematical modeling of turbulent fluid motion. In the turbulence model was derived and investigated the potential interaction of pairs of liquid particles, which contained a singularity of the branch point. Exactly, this is possible to build in this article discrete stochastic-deterministic model of an ideal fluid. The results of computational experiment to simulate various kinds of flows in two-dimensional and three-dimensional ensembles of liquid particles are presented. Modeling was carried out in the areas of quadratic or cubic form. On boundary of a region satisfies the condition of elastic reflection liquid particles. The flows with spontaneous separation of particles in a region, various kinds of eddy streams, with the quite unexpected statistical properties of an ensemble of particles characteristic for the Fermi-Pasta-Ulam effect were found. We build and study the flow in which the velocity of the particles is calibrated. It was possible using the appropriate flows of liquid particles of the ensemble to demonstrate the possibility to reproduce any prescribed image by manipulating the parameters of the interaction. Calculations of the flows were performed with using MATLAB software package according to the algorithms presented in this article.

This paper presents the results of a comprehensive study of the industrially produced ferro-piezoelectric ceramic material based on the PbZrO_(3)-PbTiO_(3)-PbMn_(1/3)Nb_(2/3)O_(3)-PbZn_(1/3)Nb_(2/3)O_(3)+SiO_(2)*** have confirmed that this material refers to ferrorigid materials with high coercive fields,stable dielectric properties in a wide temperature range,practically no Curie temperature hysteresis,as well as low controllability of the dielectric constant and deformation characteristics by constant bias electric *** revealed correlation between dielectric,deformation characteristics and dielectric hysteresis allows us to consider this material as promising for devices operating in power modes:piezotransformers,highly loaded ultrasonic devices,piezoelectric motors,etc.

A Method for Quantifying the Emotional Intensity and Duration of a Startle Reaction with Customized Fractal Dimensions of EEG Signals

The assessment of emotions with fractal dimensions of EEG signals has been attempted before, but the quantification of the intensity and duration of sudden and short emotions remains a challenge. This paper suggests a method for this purpose, by using a new fractal dimension algorithm and by adjusting the amplitude of the EEG signal in order to obtain maximal separation of high and low fractal dimensions. The emotion was induced by embedding a scary image at 20 seconds in landscape videos of 60 seconds length. The new method did not only detect the onset of the emotion correctly, but also revealed its duration and intensity. The intensity is based on the magnitude and impulse of the fractal dimension signal. It is also shown that Higuchi’s method does not always detect emotion spikes correctly;on the contrary, the region of the expected emotional response can be represented by fractal dimensions smaller than the rest of the signal, whereas the new method directly reveals distinct spikes. The duration of these spikes was 10 - 11 seconds. The magnitude of these spikes varied across the EEG channels. The build-up and cool-down of the emotions can occur with steep and flat gradients.

This paper investigates the equilibrium of fractional derivative and 2nd derivative, which occurs if the original function is damped (damping of a power-law viscoelastic solid with viscosities η of 0 ≤ η ≤ 1), where the fractional derivative corresponds to a force applied to the solid (e.g. an impact force), and the second derivative corresponds to acceleration of the solid’s centre of mass, and therefore to the inertial force. Consequently, the equilibrium satisfies the principle of the force equilibrium. Further-more, the paper provides a new definition of under- and overdamping that is not exclusively disjunctive, i.e. not either under- or over-damped as in a linear Voigt model, but rather exhibits damping phases co-existing consecutively as time progresses, separated not by critical damping, but rather by a transition phase. The three damping phases of a power-law viscoelastic solid—underdamping, transition and overdamping—are characterized by: underdamping—centre of mass oscillation about zero line;transition—centre of mass reciprocation without crossing the zero line;overdamping—power decay. The innovation of this new definition is critical for designing non-linear visco-elastic power-law dampers and fine-tuning the ratio of under- and overdamping, considering that three phases—underdamping, transition, and overdamping—co-exist consecutively if 0 < η < 0.401;two phases—transition and overdamping—co-exist consecutively if 0.401 < η < 0.578;and one phase— overdamping—exists exclusively if 0.578 < η < 1.
