Objective: To learn the epidemiological, clinical, paraclinical, therapeutical aspects and prognosis of haemorrhage of the third trimester during pregnancy. Methodology: It is about a transversal and descriptive study, realized at the department of obstetrics and gynaecology from January 1st to June 30th 2020. Was included in the study any pregnant patient showing the third trimester bleeding (≥28 Weeks gestation) received for bleeding during our study period and has been taken in charge in our department. The parameters studied were on the socio-demographic characteristics, the clinical and para clinical aspects, the noted diagnosis, the therapeutic aspects, maternal and perinatal prognosis. The information was collected from an inquiry document, the clinical files, the register of delivery room and childbirth, surgery protocols. The type and the analysis of the data were done by the softwares Word, Excel 2013 and Epi Info version 7.2.3.

The authors reported a case of trauma with uterus rupture at 35 weeks gestation with fetal death in uterus with a trauma of the right limb injuries during a serious road accident. Aim: the aim is to show the increasing of road accident with the motorized tricycle and their many risks for pregnant woman. Case Presentation: our patient was thrown from the back cargo of a motorized tricycle (three-wheeled vehicle) after a collision with a truck in a rural area from 150 km to Bobo-Dioulasso. She sustained a closed abdominal injury and a severe right lower limb open injury. At admission in our department in the Teaching Hospital, she was conscious, shocked with hemodynamic instability, including low blood pressure (75/52 mmHg), rapid heart rate (140 pulses per minute), rapid breath rate (40 per minute), and cold extremities. Abdominal examination was painful with uterine hypertonia, 28 cm height uterus, and no fetal heart heartbeat. A laparotomy in urgency revealed a rupture of the uterus fundus with a dead fetus. A conservative surgical treatment was performed. An open trauma to the right limb was managed by the orthopedists with a good outcome. Conclusion: Accident trauma during pregnancy is becoming more and more frequent with the increase in means of transport in urban and inter urban areas. Introduction: Insecurity can be an obstacle to access to emergency obstetric and newborn care, that is why we proposed to study obstetrical emergencies in Ouahigouya Regional Teaching Hospital, a referral hospital in a region plagued by insecurity linked to armed groups. Method: This was an analytical cross-sectional study with prospective data collection over a 4-month period, from June 10 to October 10, 2020. Patients from precarious security areas were compared to those from safer areas. The Chi squared and Fisher tests were used for comparison of variables. Results: Obstetric emergencies accounted for 38.62% of admissions, from which 25.59% came from precarious security zones. Age was similar in both comparison groups. However, patients from unsafe areas were more likely to reside in rural areas (p 0.001) and more likely to be in unpaid occupations (p 0.001). Prenatal visits were less frequent (p 0.01) and women were more often multigravidae (p 0.01) in the precarious security group of patients. Apart from the more frequent uterine rupture (p = 0.02) in the group from precarious security zones, diagnosed complications and maternal mortality were similar in the 2 groups, while perinatal mortality was higher in the group of patients from precarious security zones (p 0.01). Conclusion: The precarious security situation has negative consequences on maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. Further studies are needed for better understanding of these consequences, and improvement of health system resilience strategies, to reduce related maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality.

Side effects and acceptability measures for thermal ablation as a treatment for cervical precancer in low-income and middle-income countries:a systematic review and meta-synthesis

Objective Understanding the side effects and acceptability of thermal ablation(TA)is necessary before large-scale application in screen-and treat programmes can be justified in low-income and middle-income countries(LMICs).Design Articles were selected for inclusion by two independent reviewers.Risk of bias was assessed using the Downs and Black’s criteria.Summary data were extracted,and authors contacted for data when necessary.Proportions of interest and 95%CIs were estimated using a random effects model.Subgroup analysis was performed based on place of treatment and timing of post-treatment follow-up.Heterogeneity was estimated using the I^(2).Eligibility criteria Studies that reported one or more side effects or patient acceptability measures after treatment of the cervix using TA in women living in LMICs who completed a cervical cancer screening test.Included articles were clinical trials or observational studies available in English and published before 18 December 2020.Information sources Ovid MEDLINE,EMBASE,CINAHL,CAB Global Health and WHO Global Index Medicus were searched for this systematic review and meta-synthesis.Results A total of 1590 abstracts were screened,84 full text papers reviewed and 15 papers selected for inclusion in the qualitative review,10 for meta-synthesis(N=2039).Significant heterogeneity was found in screening tests used to identify women eligible for TA and in methods to ascertain side effects.The most commonly reported side effect during treatment was pain(70%,95%CI 52%to 85%;I^(2)=98.01%)(8 studies;n=1454).No women discontinued treatment due to pain.At treatment follow-up,common side effects included vaginal discharge(72%,95%CI 18%to 100%;I^(2)=99.55%)(5 studies;n=771)and bleeding(38%,95%CI 15%to 64%;I^(2)=98.14%)(4 studies;n=856).Satisfaction with treatment was high in 99%(95%CI 98%to 100%;I^(2)=0.00%)of women(3 studies;n=679).Conclusions TA results in a number of common side effects,though acceptability remains high among women treated in LMICs.Standardised side effect and acc

Several decomposed body parts were received for examination by the Forensic Anthropology section of the Medico-legal Institute of João Pessoa,Paraíba,Brazil.The portions of the lower and upper limbs,ribs,vertebrae,and a skull were thoroughly examined.The biological profile indicated a male individual with an estimated age range between 23 and 57 years and a mean age of 35.2 years(SD=9.4;phase IV,Suchey-Brooks).The skeleton showed injuries caused by sharp force and sharp-blunt force trauma that affected all body segments.Macroscopically,the lesions are mainly in the diaphyseal segments of the long bones,sacrum,pelvis,mandible,maxilla,scapulae,sternum,vertebrae,the distal epiphysis of the left fibula,and the distal epiphysis of the left tibia displayed characteristics compatible with injuries produced perimortem.It was not possible to determine the cause of death.DNAanalysis resulted in a positive identification.Because of common difficulties faced in forensic practice,it is often not possible for forensic anthropologists to go to the crime scene,X-ray or body scanners are frequently unavailable,and the victim’s medical and/or dental records are sometimes absent.These difficulties make identification ultimately depend on genetic analysis,which is more time-consuming than other identification methods.Despite this,bone fragment examination in dismemberment cases is a complex task.Forensic Anthropology can shed light on cases involving the identification of dismembered remains,which are challenging because of the number of traumatic injuries,as well as different injury patterns,on bones.

Objective: To study maternal mortality in the obstetrics and gynecology department at Yalgado Ouedraogo teaching Hospital Center. Patients and Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional retrospective and descriptive study of 181 cases of maternal deaths during study period. The parameters studied were sociodemographic characteristics, the causes of death, the clinical data and the contributing factors. Results: The maternal mortality ratio was 2624 per 100,000 live births. The mean age of death was 26.79 with extremes of 15 years to 40 years. Direct obstetric causes accounted for 58% dominated by hypertension and complications, hemorrhage during pregnancy and postpartum, and obstetric infections. The indirect obstetric causes were 42% dominated by non-obstetric infections and chronic anemias. In addition to the delay in consultation and delay in care, the lack of antenatal care was the contributing factor to maternal deaths. Conclusion: Maternal mortality remains a public health problem in view of its high ratio. The reduction of this scourge will inevitably go through a health insurance that will allow the supply of quality care.

Despite the availability of whole genome sequences of apple and peach,there has been a considerable gap between genomics and breeding.To bridge the gap,the European Union funded the FruitBreedomics project(March 2011 to August 2015)involving 28 research institutes and private companies.Three complementary approaches were pursued:(i)tool and software development,(ii)deciphering genetic control of main horticultural traits taking into account allelic diversity and(iii)developing plant materials,tools and methodologies for breeders.Decisive breakthroughs were made including the making available of ready-to-go DNA diagnostic tests for Marker Assisted Breeding,development of new,dense SNP arrays in apple and peach,new phenotypic methods for some complex traits,software for gene/QTL discovery on breeding germplasm via Pedigree Based Analysis(PBA).This resulted in the discovery of highly predictive molecular markers for traits of horticultural interest via PBA and via Genome Wide Association Studies(GWAS)on several European genebank collections.FruitBreedomics also developed pre-breeding plant materials in which multiple sources of resistance were pyramided and software that can support breeders in their selection activities.Through FruitBreedomics,significant progresses were made in the field of apple and peach breeding,genetics,genomics and bioinformatics of which advantage will be made by breeders,germplasm curators and scientists.A major part of the data collected during the project has been stored in the FruitBreedomics database and has been made available to the public.This review covers the scientific discoveries made in this major endeavour,and perspective in the apple and peach breeding and genomics in Europe and beyond.
