The Impact of Foreign Direct Investment on Economic Growth: Nigeria Experience

This study investigated the impact of foreign direct investment on economic growth in Nigeria. Secondary source of data was employed in this study from 1986 to 2017 which were sourced from Central Bank of Nigeria Statistical Bulletin (2017) published in 2018 and World Development Indicator published in 2019. Descriptive and regression analyses were used as the estimation techniques. The findings of the study revealed that the coefficient value of LFDI is 0.633506 and its p-value is 0.0002 implying that a unit increase in LFDI will increase LGDP with the value of 0.633506. The coefficient value of RINTR is 0.004127 with p-value of 0.310 indicating that a unit increase in real interest rate will increase gross domestic product, but it is not significant. Also, LDI coefficient value is 1.758036 with p-value of 0.0688 implying that a unit increase in domestic investment will increase gross domestic product positively with the value of 1.758036 which is significant at 10% but not significant at 5% alpha level. The coefficient value of exchange rate is 0.835206 with the p-value of 0.0000 signifying that exchange rate is positive and significant to economic growth. It was concluded that foreign direct investment was positive and significant to economic growth of Nigeria while the domestic investment was also positive but not significant at 5% alpha level.

Numerical investigation of thermo-physical properties of non-newtonian fliud in a modelled intestine

Several kinds of researches have been conducted on peristaltic flow of non-Newtonian fluid in modelled oesophagus,stomach and ***,further investigation is still needed es-pecially in the area of mechanical shear stress,the influence of inlet temperature and velocity,Nutsselt number and the history of strain rates experienced by fluid *** study presents the numerical investigation of thermo-physical properties of non-Newtonian fluid in a modelled *** properties investigated were fluid temperature,velocity,Nutsselt number and wall shear *** simulation was performed by solving 3D Navier-Stokes and continuity *** intestinal model was drawn by using Autodesk Inventor 2017 while the numerical investigation was conducted by using ANSYS FLUENT *** Computational Fluid Dynamics solver employs the Finite Element Method(FEM)to discretize the governing ***,Hibiscus Sabdariffa Roselle(Sobo),Soymilk(Soya)and Pap(Ogi)were the working fluids used for the *** of the results showed that the variation of fluid temperature and heat transfer with axial position across the length of intestinal model were not significantly influenced by the variation of the inlet *** of the model about the pulsating part enhanced heat transfer and nutrient delivery to the intestinal *** of the inlet velocity did not affect the average Nutsselt *** and Sobo had the highest and lowest Nutsselt number,*** displayed the best fluid properties considering flow behaviour while Soya dis-played the best properties for thermal *** results presented in this study are of countless importance in medical,paramedical,engineering applications,thermoregulation system,ther-motherapy,and biomedical disciplines,where analyses and investigation of gastrointestinal tract history can be understudied.

The Nexus between Nigerian Government Spending and Domestic Output in the Presence of Long-Term Crude Oil Price Shock: A Conditional Unrestricted Equilibrium Correction Model Approach

This paper is an empirical analysis of provisional unrestricted level relationship between Nigerian domestic output measured by Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and government spending proxied by capital and recurrent expenditures in the presence of static regressors such as crude oil prices and federal government retained revenues. We estimate an ARDL (1,0,1) using a single-equation approach. Results show that government expenditures have negative but statistically insignificant effects on domestic output in the long-run. Similarly, negative short run effects are established amongst the variables. However, recurrent expenditure is statistically significant in the short-run. Whilst federal government retained revenue has a positive and significant effect, crude oil price exhibited negative relationships with domestic output both at level and in the short-run dynamics. Also a high speed of adjustment implies that Nigerian Gross Domestic Product is extremely sensitive to shocks on the government spending in the long-run. An upward trend forecast between 2014 and 2020 is an indication of the continued positive impact and the government retained revenue will exert on the domestic output in the long-run.
