Postopereative sternal dehiscence is one of the most important complications of median sternotomy which may cause pulmonary dysfunction and mediastinitis. We are reporting a patient with sternal dehiscence after coronary artery bypass surgery that underwent application of thermoreactive nitinol clips in addition to Robicsek procedure. Using thermoreactive nitinol clips method together with Robicsek procedure may be a valuable technique for preventing recurrent sternal dehiscence for patients who are candidates of noninfective recurrent sternal dehiscence.

In this review we aimed to present the effects of clamp and shunt usage on vascular endothelium in coronary artery surgery under the light of current literature data. Each surgical team or even each surgeon uses different methods in order to create bloodless surgical site during beating heart surgical procedures. Every method has its own advantages and disadvantages. There is no formed consensus regarding this issue. Surgeons still want to operate on bloodless surgical fields. But, they have concerns about continuity of blood flow and vascular endothelial injury during off-pump coronary surgery. In order to achieve a consensus statement about this issue, multicentric larger studies are needed.

The study of a disturbed accretion disk holds great significance in the realm of astrophysics,as such events play a crucial role in revealing the nature of disk structure,the release of energy,and the generation of shock ***,they can help explain the causes of X-ray emissions observed in black hole accretion disk *** this paper,we perturb the stable disk formed by spherical accretion around Kerr and Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet(EGB)black *** perturbation reveals one-and two-armed spiral shock waves around the black *** find a strong connection between these waves and the black hole spin parameter(a/M)and the EGB coupling constant(α).Specifically,we find that asαincreases in the negative direction,the dynamics of the disk and the waves become more ***,we observe that the angular momentum of the perturbing matter significantly affects mass accretion and the oscillation of the arising shock *** allows us to observe changes in QPO frequencies,particularly,perturbations with angular momentum matching the observed C-type low-frequency QPOs of the GRS 1915+105 ***,we conclude that the possibility of the occurrence of shock waves within the vicinity of GRS 1915+105 is substantial.

Understanding the dynamic interactions between forest ecosystems and water in the Mediterranean region is essential for increasing ecosystem *** if many studies were implemented to analyse the variations of water and net primary productivity(NPP)in the last decade,this is still an important research question especially for the Eastern Mediterranean,where the research attempts are *** main objective of this study was to carry out a comparative analysis of catchment runoff generation and forest NPP and to reveal their temporal dynamics at basin scale in a semi-arid Mediterranean *** methodology consisted three steps:(i)estimating catchment runoff generation by implementing process-based J2000 modelling suite,(ii)modelling NPP of the land cover/use types by adapting an ecosystem-process model(BIOME-Biogeochemical cycles)and(iii)assessing the spatio-temporal variability of NPP and runoff dynamics by incorporating the modelling results with multiple regression *** simulations showed that temperature highly contributed to NPP variations of needle-leaf forests and *** multiple regression analysis also indicated that runoff was influenced by elevation,precipitation and forest *** relationship showed that the inter-annual variability in forest NPP would relate to the variations in runoff distribution across a small Mediterranean subcatchment.

Conical spouted beds operating with high-density particles(ρp>2500 kg/m^(3))have recently gained attention because of their potential use as nuclear fuel coaters for next-generation nuclear *** the literature,the number of axial gas mixing studies in conical and conical-cylindrical spouted beds is very limited and all axial mixing studies were carried out with relatively light particles(ρp≤2500 kg/m^(3)).Therefore,the objective of this study was to generate experimental data that can be used to explain the gas axial mixing behavior in conical spouted beds operating with both low-and high-density *** were conducted in two(γ=30°,60°)conical spouted beds with three different types of particles:zirconia(ρp=6050 kg/m^(3)),zirconia toughened alumina(ρp=3700 kg/m^(3))and glass beads(ρp=2460 kg/m^(3)).In order to be able to compare experimental data obtained at different conditions,a 1-D convection-diffusion gas mixing model originally developed by San Joséet al.(1995)was implemented to determine the axial dispersion *** results show that the axial dispersion coefficients range between m^(2)/s and m^(2)/s,increase with superficial gas velocity and are higher than the corresponding dispersion coefficients of fixed beds,lower than the dispersion coefficients of fluidized beds and in the same range with the cylindrical spouted beds reported in the *** corresponding Peclet numbers were in the range of 0.6–7.8 for all operating conditions and slightly higher Peclet numbers were obtained with glass beads indicating the relative importance of gas convective transport over gas dispersion for light particles compared to heavy particles.

For a commutative ring R and a faithfully fiat R-algebra S we prove, under mild extra assumptions, that an R-module M is Gorenstein flat if and only if the left S-module S R M is Gorenstein flat, and that an R-module N is Gorenstein injective if and only if it is cotorsion and the left S-module Homn（S, N） is Gorenstein injective. We apply these results to the study of Gorenstein homological dimensions of unbounded complexes. In particular, we prove two theorems on stability of these dimensions under faithfully flat （co-）base change.

Mediterranean region is identified as a primary hot-spot for climate change due to the expected temperature and rainfall *** the potential impacts of climate change on the hydrology in these regions is an important task to develop long-term water management *** aim of this study was to quantify the potential impacts of the climate changes on local hydrological quantities at the Goksu Watershed at the Eastern Mediterranean,Turkey as a case study.A set of Representative Concentration Pathways(RCP)scenarios were used as drivers for the conceptual hydrological model J2000 to investigate how the hydrological system and the underlying processes would respond to projected future climate *** model was implemented to simulate daily hydrological quantities including runoff generation,Actual Evapotranspiration(AET)and soil-water balance for present(2005–2015)and future(up to 2100).The results indicated an increase of both precipitation and runoff throughout the region from January to *** region showed a strong seasonally dependent runoff regime with higher flows during winter and spring and lower flows in summer and *** study provides a comparative methodology to include meteorological-hydrological modelling integration that can be feasible to assess the climate change impacts in mountainous regions.

Primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) is a chronic progressive cholestatic liver disease caused by diffuse inflammation,destruction and fibrosis of the intrahepatic bile ducts,ultimately leading to cirrhosis,portal hypertension and liver *** pathogenesis of PBC is incompletely understood,but current data suggest roles for genetic susceptibility and environmental *** is often thought of as an organ-specific autoimmune disease,which mainly targets the liver;however,lung tissue is also a site for autoimmune involvement of *** pulmonary manifestations of PBC include abnormalities in gas transfer and pulmonary function,subclinical alveolitis,interstitial lung disease,granulomatous lung disease,airway disease,pulmonary hypertension,pulmonary hemorrhage and pleural effusion.

The higher frequency of varicocele in men with infertility has drawn attention and resulted in increased research at the molecular level towards treatments. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of tumor necrosis factor （TNF）-related apoptosis-inducing ligand （TRAIL） and its receptors in varicocele-induced testicular dysfunction in an experimental rat model. The rats were divided into three groups： control, sham and varicocele. Varicoceles in rats were induced by partial ligation of the left renal vein and left testes. The rats were analyzed 13 weeks after surgery. The degree of DNA fragmentation within cells in the testis was determined using terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase deoxyuridine triphosphate nick end labeling （TUNEL） assay. Tubule degeneration was evaluated using the Johnsen score. The expression of TRAIL and its receptors was detected by immunohistochemical and Western blotting techniques. The apoptotic index, Johnsen score and the expression of TRAIL and TRAIL receptors were examined. The data are presented as the mean-.＋s.d, and were analyzed using computer software. The KruskaI-Wallis and Dunn＇s multiple comparison tests were used in the statistical analyses. The germ cell apoptotic index was increased in rats with varicoceles when compared with the sham and control groups （P=0.0031）. The Johnsen score was significantly decreased in the varicocele group when compared with the sham and control groups （P〈O.O001）. Immunohistochemical and Western blotting analyses showed that after varicocele induction, the expression of TRAIL-R1 and TRAIL-R4 in germ cells was increased and the expression of TRAIL-R2 was decreased. There are no significant differences among the groups in terms of TRAIL and TRAIL-R3 receptor expression. The results of this study indicate that TRAIL and its receptors may have a potential role in the pathogenesis of varicocele-induced testicular dysfunction.
