Factors Affecting Japanese HPV-Vaccination: Findings from the Semi-Structured Interviews with Adolescent Girls and Caregivers

The objective of the present study was to qualitatively assess the obstructive and facilitative factors affecting adolescent girls and their caregivers when the adolescent had received or was considering receiving the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccination. Using these data, we propose recommendations for medical and nursing staff concerned with HPV vaccination. Participants were 20 adolescent girls (aged 10 - 19 years) and their caregivers, who had visited any of the 3 pediatric clinics in the Tokyo metropolitan area during a specified period since HPV vaccination began in Japan. The girls and their caregivers were separately interviewed by 2 child and/or family nursing care specialists with a semi-structured interview. The responses were qualitatively analyzed by 2 specialists, and the obstructive and facilitative factors affecting participants’ decision to receive HPV vaccination were extracted from the responses. Among the 20 sets of participants, 7 adolescents had completed HPV vaccination, 9 were going to receive vaccination, and 4 had not received any vaccination. The obstructive/facilitative factors related to considering or receiving HPV vaccination and actual vaccination were extracted and 4 main categories of factors were identified. Facilitators toward HPV-vaccination of daughters included clear future self-image and visions, fear Cervical Cancer (CC) and desire to escape from CC, having discussion with mothers about HPV-vaccination and CC, and to have a boyfriend. Barriers toward vaccination included the mothers’ reluctance to explain the sexual matters about HPV-vaccination to their daughters and difficulty with find the appropriate clinic or hospital to HPV-vaccination. Relevant factors about vaccination included positive family attitudes toward vaccination, having family system allowing consultation and having a public financial support for vaccination for daughters. Checkpoint with forkhead-associated and ring finger promoter hypermethylation correlates with microsatellite instability in gastric cancer

Heat generation properties in AC magnetic field for composite powder material of the Y3Fe5O12-nSiC system prepared by reverse coprecipitation method

Composite powder material of the Y3Fe5O12–nSiC system was synthesized by a reverse coprecipitation method to study its heat generation property in an AC magnetic field. For Y3Fe5O12 (n = 0), the maximum heat generation ability of 0.45 W·g−1 in an AC magnetic field (370 kHz, 1.77 kA·m−1) was obtained for the sample calcined at 1100 °C. The SiC addition helped to suppress the particle growth for Y3Fe5O12 at the calcination temperature. The heat generation ability was improved by the addition of the SiC powder, and the maximum value of 0.93 W·g−1 was obtained for the n = 0.3 sample calcined at 1250 °C. The heat generation ability and the hysteresis loss value were proportional to the cube of the magnetic field (H 3). The heat generation ability (W·g−1) of the Y3Fe5O12–0.3SiC sample calcined at 1250 °C could be expressed by the equation 4.5×10−4 · f · H 3 using the frequency f (kHz) and the magnetic field H (kA·m−1).

Prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma accompanied by microscopic portal vein invasion

AIM:To investigate the prognostic factors in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) accompanied by microscopic portal vein invasion(PVI).METHODS:Of the 267 patients with HCC undergoing hepatic resection at Aso Iizuka Hospital,71 had *** excluding 16 patients with HCC that invaded the main trunk and the first and second branches of the portal vein,55 patients with microscopic PVI were ***:The patients with HCC accompanied by microscopic invasion were divided into two groups:solitary PVI(PVI-S:n = 44),and multiple PVIs(PVI-M:n = 11).The number of portal vein branches invaded by tumor thrombi was 5.4 ± 3.8(2-16) in patients with *** cumulative survival,PVI-M was found to be a significantly poor prognostic factor(P = 0.0019);while PVI-M and non-anatomical resection were significantly poor prognostic factors in disease-free survival(P = 0.0213,and 0.0115,respectively).In patients with PVI-M,multiple intrahepatic recurrence was more common than in the patients with PVI-S(P = 0.0049).In patients with PVI-S,non-anatomical resection was a significantly poor prognostic factor in disease-free survival(P = 0.0370).Operative procedure was not a significant prognostic factor in patients with ***:The presence of PVI-M was a poor prognostic factor in patients with HCC,accompanied by microscopic *** resection is recommended in these patients with *** with HCC and PVI-M may also be good candidates for adjuvant chemotherapy.

Improvement of Heat Generation Ability in AC Magnetic Field and Magnetic Properties for Spinel Type MgFe_2O_4 Ferrite by Cu Substitution and Beads Milling

Mg_(1-X)Cu_XFe_2O_4 type spinel ferrite was prepared by solid reaction method in order to discuss the heat generation ability in AC magnetic *** cubic type ferrite structure was obtained for X=0-0.6 samples calcined at 1200℃,and the mixture phase of cubic and tetragonal structures were obtained for X=0.7,0.8 samples from XRD result. The highest lattice parameter and highest hysteresis loss value were also shown at X=0.6 sample,the crystal distortion was increased with increase the Cu^(2+)substitution in cubic type ferrite *** sized nano Mg_(0.4)Cu_(0.6)Fe_2O_4 powder was prepared by physical milling method using beads *** highest heat generation in the AC magnetic field was obtained for the 6 h milled samples using 0.1mm *** Cu^(2+)substitution for MgFe_2O_4 ferrite and the beads milling were very effective for the improvement of their heat generation ability in AC magnetic field.

Preoperative sorting of circulating T lymphocytes in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma: Its prognostic significance

AIM: To elucidate the immunologic parameters for the outcome of patients with malignant tumors, especially esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) associated with high malignant potential. METHODS: Clinicopathologic features were compared between patients with lower and higher CD4 and CD8 values as well as CD4/CD8 ratio in peripheral blood. RESULTS: The survival rate of patients with higher CD4 value was significantly better than that in patients with lower CD4 value (P = 0.039). The survival rate of patients with higher CD8 value was significantly worse than that of patients with lower CD8 value (P = 0.026). Similarly, the survival rate of patients with higher CD4/ CD8 ratio was significantly better than that of patients with lower CD4/CD8 ratio (P = 0.042). Additionally, multivariate analysis demonstrated that lower CD8 and lower CD4/CD8 ratio were factors independently associated with worse prognosis of patients. CONCLUSION: All the immunologic parameters can predict the outcome of patients with ESCC.
