We have newly designed an electrostatic sensor,called an electric field mill(EFM),to simplify the estimation of the charge position and charge amount transferred by lightning *** is necessary for this remote estimation of the transferred charge to measure electric field changes caused by charge loss at the time of a lightning strike at multiple *** multiple-station measurement of electric field changes,not only speed but also phase for exposure and shielding of the sensing plates inside each EFM of the array should be synchronized to maintain the sensitivities of the deployed ***,there is no such EFM with specified speed and phase control performance of the rotary ***,we developed a new EFM in which the rotary mechanism was controlled consistently to within 3%error by a GPS *** EFMs had been distributed in the Hokuriku area of Japan during the winter season of 2022-2023 for a test *** we describe the design and a simple calibration method for our new EFM *** analysis method based on the assumption of a simple monopole charge structure is also *** validation,locations of assumed point charges were compared with three-dimensional lightning mapping data estimated by radio observations in the MF-HF *** results indicated the validity to estimate transferred charge amounts and positions of winter cloud-to-ground lightning discharges with our new EFM array.

Geochemistry of Rare Earth Elements(REE) in the Weathered Crusts from the Granitic Rocks in Sulawesi Island, Indonesia

We report for the first time the geochemistry of rare earth elements（REE） in the weathered crusts of I-type and calc-alkaline to high-K（shoshonitic） granitic rocks at Mamasa and Palu region, Sulawesi Island, Indonesia. The weathered crusts can be divided into horizon A（lateritic profile） and B（weathered horizon）. Quartz, albite, kaolinite, halloysite and montmorrilonite prevail in the weathered crust. Both weathered profiles show that the total REE increased from the parent rocks to the horizon B but significantly decrease toward the upper part（horizon A）. LREE are enriched toward the upper part of the profile as shown by La/YbN value. However, HREE concentrations are high in horizon B1 in Palu profile. The total REE content of the weathered crust are relatively elevated compared to the parent rocks, particularly in the lower part of horizon B in Mamasa profile and in horizon B2 in Palu profile. This suggests that REE-bearing accessory minerals may be resistant against weathering and may remain as residual phase in the weathered crusts. The normalized isocon diagram shows that the mass balance of major and REE components between each horizon in Mamasa and Palu weathering profile are different. The positive Ce anomaly in the horizon A of Mamasa profile indicated that Ce is rapidly precipitated during weathering and retain at the upper soil horizon.

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC), the fifth most common cancer in the world, shows increasing incidence worldwide. Curative treatments such as hepatectomy,liver transplantation, and radiofrequency ablation are applied in only 30%-60% of cases. Most remaining patients receive transarterial chemoembolization(TACE).Patients with intermediate-stage HCCs are regarded as good candidates for TACE. However, the intermediate stage includes non-homogeneous patients. Some movements are underway to stratify patients using prognostic factors to identify patient groups exhibiting greater benefit from TACE than other patient *** review describes two substaging systems that subclassify intermediate-stage HCCs and discusses the importance of dividing intermediate-stage patients.

Does Foreign Direct Investment Affect the Growth of Local Firms? The Case of China's Electrical and Electronics Industry

Does foreign direct investment （FDI） into developing countries affect the growth of local firms in host countries？ Using a dataset of 38 sectors in China ＇s electrical and electronics industry, in this paper, we analyze whether FDI has a positive effect on loeal firms, with technology spillovers, added value and increasing total faetor productivity, or a negative, market stealing, effect. Estimating the relationship between growth of local firms and investment offoreign firms, our results show that FDI is likely to have a negative impact on the growth of local firms in sectors with large disparities in technology and less experience in business. Therefore, local firms lacking in technology need to find markets with no competition from foreign firms or determine strategies to compensate technology disparities.

Tensile force correction calculation method for prestressed construction of tension structures

Factors such as errors during the fabrication or construction of structural components and errors of calculation as- sumption or calculation methods, are very likely to cause serious deviation of many strings’ actual prestressing forces from the designed values during tension structure construction or service period, and further to threaten the safety and reliability of the structure. Aiming at relatively large errors of the prestressing force of strings in a tension structure construction or service period, this paper proposes a new finite element method (FEM), the "tensile force correction calculation method". Based on the measured prestressing forces of the strings, this new method applies the structure from the zero prestressing force status approach to the measured prestressing force status for the first phase, and from the measured prestressing force status approach to the designed prestressing force status for the second phase. The construction tensile force correction value for each string can be obtained by multi-iteration with FEM. Using the results of calculation, the strings’ tensile force correction by group and in batch will be methodic, simple and accurate. This new calculation method can be applied to the prestressed correction construction simulation analysis for tension structures.

Endoscopic ultrasound-guided drainage of postoperative intra-abdominal abscesses

Although endoscopic ultrasound(EUS)-guided drainage has become the standard procedure for pancreatic pseudocysts in recent years and is generally regarded as a safe and effective method,there have been few reports of EUS-guided drainage of postoperative intra-abdominal *** we report our experience with 4 cases of postoperative intraabdominal abscesses for which EUS-guided drainage was performed between May 2011 and May *** pancreatectomy had been performed in 3 cases,whereas low anterior resection for rectal cancer was performed in the remaining *** patients underwent transgastric naso-cystic drainage,which resulted in clinical improvement without complications,even when performed within 4 wk after *** average,the naso-cystic drain was removed 10 d after placement,with no abscess *** on these findings,we believe that EUS-guided drainage of postoperative intraabdominal abscesses is a safe and effective method,although further large-scale investigations are required to confirm our findings.

Genesis of the Zhaokalong Fe-Cu Polymetallic Deposit at Yushu, China: Evidence from Ore Geochemistry and Fluid Inclusions

The ore types of the Zhaokalong Fe-Cu deposit are divided into two categories： sulfide-type and oxide-type. The sulfide-type ore include siderite ore, galena-sphalerite ore and chalcopyrite ore, whereas the oxide-type ore include magnetite ore and hematite ore. The ore textures and structures indicate that the Zhaokalong deposit is of the sedimentary-exhalative mineralization type. Geochemical analyses show that the two ore types have a high As, Sb, Mn, Co and Ni content. The REE patterns reveal an enrichment of the LREE compared to the HREE. Isotopic analysis of siderite ore reveal that the j13CpDB ranges from -2.01 to 3.34 （%0） whereas the JISOsMow ranges from 6.96 to 18.95 （%0）. The fluid inclusion microthermometry results indicate that homogenization temperatures of fluid inclusions in quartz range from 131 to 181~C, with salinity values of 1.06 to 8.04 wt% NaCI eq. The mineralizing fluid therefore belongs to the low temperature - low salinity system, with a mineralizing solution of a CO2-Ca2＋（Na＋, K＋）-SO42- （F-, CI--H20 system. The geochemical results and fluid inclusion data provide additional evidence that the Zhaokalong deposit is a sedex-type deposit that experienced two stages of mineralization. The sulfide mineralization probably occurred first, during the sedimentary exhalative process, as exhibited by the abundance of marine materials associated with the sulfide ores, indicating a higher temperature and relatively deoxidized oceanic depositional environment. After the main exhalative stage, hydrothermal activity was superimposed to the sulfide mineralization. The later stage oxide mineralization occurred in a low temperature and relatively oxidized environment, in which magmatic fluid circulation was dominant.

Electrochemical behavior of [UO_2Cl_4]^(2-) in 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium based ionic liquids

In order to examine the chemical form of uranyl species in l-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium （EMI） based ionic liquids, UV-visible absorption spectra of solutions prepared by dissolving [EMI]2[UO2CI4] into a mixture of EMICI and EMIBF4 （50：50 tool%） were measured. As a result, it was confirmed that uranyl species in the mixture of EMICI and EMIBF4 existed as [UO2C14]2-. Cyclic voltammograms （CVs） of [UO2CI4]2- in the mixture were measured at 25 ~C using a Pt working electrode, a Pt wire counter electrode, and an Ag/Ag＋ reference electrode （0.01 M AgNO3, 0.1 M tetrabutylammonium perchlorate in acetonitrile） in a glove box under an Ar atmosphere. Peaks corresponding to one redox couple were observed around -1.05 V （Epc） and -0.92 V （Epa） vs. ferrocene/ferrocenium ion （Fc/Fc＋）. The potential differences between two peaks （AEp） increased from 101 to 152 mV with an increase in the scan rate from 50 to 300 mV s-1, while the （Epc ＋ Epa）/2 value was constant, -0.989 V vs. Fc/Fc＋ regardless of the scan rate. Furthermore, the diffusion coefficient of [UO2C14]2 and the standard rate constant were es- timated to be 3.7× 10^-8 cm^2 s 1 and （2.7-2,8） × 10^-4 cm s-! at 25 ℃. By using the diffusion coefficient and the standard rate constant, the simulation of CVs was performed based on the reaction, [UO2C14]2- ＋ e- = [UO2C14]3-. The simulated CVs were found to be consistent with the experimental ones. From these results, it is concluded that [UO2C14]2- in the mixture of EMIC1 and EMIBF4 is reduced to [UO2C14]3- quasi-reversibly at -0.989 V vs. Fc/Fc＋.

Optimal Restoration Scheduling of Damaged Networks Under Uncertain Environment by Using Improved Genetic Algorithm

The purpose of this research is to propose an early restoration for lifeline systems after earthquake disasters. The previous researches show that the optimization of the restoration schedule by using genetic algorithm (GA) is powerful. However, those are not considering the uncertain environment after earthquake disasters. The circumstances of the damage at devastated areas are very changeable due to the aftershock, fire disaster and bad weather. In addition, the restoring works may delay by unexpected accidents. Therefore, it is necessary to obtain the restoration schedule which has robustness, because the actual restoring works could not progress smoothly under the uncertain environment. GA considering uncertainty (GACU) can treat various uncertainties involved, but it is difficult to obtain the robust schedule. In this study, an attempt is made to develop a decision support system of the optimal restoration scheduling by using the improved GACU.
