The bone marrow contains a heterogeneous milieu of cells, including macrophages, which are key cellular mediators for resolving infection and inflammation. Macrophages are most well known for their ability to phagocytose foreign bodies or apoptotic cells to maintain homeostasis; however, little is known about their function in the bone microenvironment. in the current study, we investigated the in vitro interaction of murine macrophages and bone marrow stromal cells （BMSCs）, with focus on the juxtacrine induction of iL-6 signaling and the resultant effect on BMSC migration and growth. The juxtacrine interaction of primary mouse macrophages and BMSCs activated iL-6 signaling in the co-cultures, which subsequently enhanced BMSC migration and increased BMSC numbers. BMSCs and macrophages harvested from iL-6 knockout mice revealed that iL-6 signaling was essential for enhancement of BMSC migration and increased BMSC numbers via juxtacrine interactions. BMSCs were the main contributor of iL-6 signaling~ and hence activation of the iL-6/ gp130/STAT3 pathway. Meanwhile, macrophage derived iL-6 remained important for the overall production of iL-6 protein in the co-cultures. Taken together, these findings show the function of macmphages as co-inducers of migration and growth of BMSCs, which could directly influence bone formation and turnover.

非厄米性的研究蕴涵着诸多新物理机制与现象,在激光与传感等多个方面有着重要的应用价值.在非厄米系统中,实本征能量意味着系统具有稳定性,这一性质可通过奇偶时间(PT)对称性保护,并在不同物理系统中得到广泛的研究.本文利用一种新的动力学机制保证实能谱,提出了一种普适的方案来设计具有实能谱的哈密顿量.该方案基于对扩展非厄米体边对应的静电类比,其中静电荷对应态密度,电场则对应复能谱流.通过这一方案,可以重构出具有任意能谱及态局域性质的哈密顿量,即便这些性质不具备任何对称性特征.通过用泊松边值问题代替原本的非厄米哈密顿量对角化问题,这一静电类比也避免了传统数值方法中因非厄米耗散/增益引起的浮点误差问题,从而允许对更大尺寸的系统进行计算.

Age-related diseases can lead to knee joint misfunction, making knee assistance necessary through theuse of robotic wearable braces. However, existing wearable robots face challenges in force transmission and humanmotion adaptation, particularly among the elderly. Although soft actuators have been used in wearable robots,achieving rapid response and motion control while maintaining portability remains challenging. To address theseissues, we propose a soft-robotic knee brace system integrated with multiple sensors and a direct-drive hydraulicactuation system. This approach allows for controlled and rapid force output on the portable hydraulic *** multi-sensor feedback structure enables the robotic system to collaborate with the human body throughhuman physiological signal and body motion information. The human user tests demonstrate that the knee robotprovides assistive torques to the knee joint by being triggered by the electromyography signal and under humanmotion control.

Bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell(MSC)is one of the most actively studied cell types due to its regenerative potential and immunomodulatory *** cell expansion methods using 2D tissue culture plates and 2.5D microcarriers in bioreactors can generate large cell numbers,but they compromise stem cell potency and lack mechanical preconditioning to prepare MSC for physiological loading expected in *** overcome these challenges,in this work,we describe a 3D dynamic hydrogel using magneto-stimulation for direct MSC manufacturing to *** our technology,we found that dynamic mechanical stimulation(DMS)enhanced matrix-integrinβ1 interactions which induced MSCs spreading and *** addition,DMS could modulate MSC biofunctions including directing MSC differentiation into specific lineages and boosting paracrine activities(e.g.,growth factor secretion)through YAP nuclear localization and FAK-ERK *** our magnetic hydrogel,complex procedures from MSC manufacturing to final clinical use,can be integrated into one single platform,and we believe this‘all-in-one’technology could offer a paradigm shift to existing standards in MSC therapy.

OBJECTiVE: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects and safety of modified fasting therapy using fermented medicinal herbs and exercise on body weight, fat and muscle mass, and blood chemistry in obese ***: Twenty-six patients participated in a14-day fast, during which they ingested a supplement made from fermented medicinal herbs and carbohydrates(intake: 400-600 kcal/d). The schedule included 7 prefasting relief days and 14 days of stepwise reintroduction of food. The patients also took part in an exercise program that incorporated Qigong, weight training, and walking exercises. The efficacy of treatments was observed by assessing body fat mass and muscle mass, and alanine aminotransferase(ALT), aspartate aminotransferase(AST),cholesterol, and triglycerides in each study *** symptoms or side effects were ***: Body weight and body fat mass both decreased significantly by(5.16 ± 0.95) and(3.89 ±0.79) kg(both P ile muscle mass decreased by an average of(0.26 ± 0.22) kg, without statistical significance. ALT levels were significantly decreased(P ile AST levels decreased without statistical significance(P = 0.052). The levels of total cholesterol and triglycerides were also significantly decreased(both P ild dizziness, which did not affect everyday ***: These results suggest that modified fasting therapy using fermented medicinal herbs and exercise could be effective and safe on obese patients.

A homologous series of benzothiazole derivatives, 6-methoxy-2-（4-alkanoyloxybenzylidenamino）benzothiazoles, were synthesized and characterized using FT-iR, ^1H and ^13C NMR, mass spectrometry and elemental analysis. Enantiotropic nematic phase was observed throughout the entire series. Smectic C phase only emerged from the decanoyloxy derivative onwards. The terminal methoxyl group and the ester linkage influenced the mesomorphic behavior of the present series.

BACKGROUND Heel pain is a common orthopaedic complaint,and if left untreated can be a source of chronic *** diagnosis can be challenging,owing to the complex anatomy and multiple pain generators present in the *** aim to share our clinical experience managing an unusual case of chronic heel pain secondary to *** SUMMARY A 41-year-old obese male who works as a porter presented with a long-standing history of left plantar heel *** was assessed to have point tenderness over the plantar insertion of the calcaneus as well as a positive Silfverski?ld *** was treated for plantar fasciitis and tight gastrocnemius but failed conservative therapies as well as surgical *** resonance imaging revealed the presence of a pedunculated bony protrusion over the plantar aspect of the *** decision was made for excision of the osteochondroma,and the patient has been pain-free *** Osteochondromas are rarely symptomatic in skeletally mature *** most are benign with a very low risk of malignant transformation,surgical excision can yield excellent results and significant pain relief in symptomatic patients.

Thermoelectric technology,which is characterized by the interconversion between heat and electricity,is demonstrated as an efficient and environmentally friendly route for thermal energy harvesting and solid-state cooling *** pursuit for high-performance room temperature thermoelectric materials is of significant ***,we proposed a design strategy to dramatically improve the thermoelectric response by constructing a hierarchical multiscale conductor network(AgNWs/CNT)in polymer matrix(PEDOT:PSS).At the optimized composition,the highest Seebeck coefficient and electrical conductivity of base treated ternary PEDOT:PSS/AgNWs/CNT composite are optimized to be 58.6μV K^(-1)and~1950 S ***,the power factor is thus calculated to be on the order of 670μV m^(-1)K^(-2),which is among one of the highest values compared with previous *** underlying mechanism is illustrated based on detailed structure,morphology and electron transport *** work affords a novel strategy for the future development of high-performance room temperature nanocomposite thermoelectrics.

This paper re-examines Bagnold’s theorem of sediment transport. Different from the stream power defined by Bagnold, i.e., τoV, this study shows that the total load of sediment-laden flow, gt, is related to near bed energy dissipation rate, i.e., τou*’. An attempt is made to explain the empirical relation. The ratio (=k) of measured total load, gt, to the product of near bed velocity, u*’, and energy dissipation rate, τou*’, is analyzed. it is found that k is independent of the Rouse number, Z, if Z is greater than 2.6, but the coefficient k decreases with the increase of Z when Z irical relation between k and Z is developed. A systematic and thorough analysis of 1,458 sets of data collected from 16 rivers and canals confirms that the proposed formula can be used to compute the total load with accuracy.
