s.rong>Introduction:s.rong> Tendinopathy of the thoracic limb (TMT) is.frequent, and is.res.ons.ble for an important s.cio-profes.ional handicap. Medical imaging, in particular, ultras.und has.a major role in contributing to the diagnos.s. As.the us. of ultras.und is.recent in os.eoarticular pathology, es.ecially in Africa, we propos.d to determine the contribution of imaging in the diagnos.s.of tendinopathy of the thoracic limbs.in a country with limited res.urces. s.rong>Patients.and Method:s.rong> A des.riptive and analytical cros.-s.ctional s.udy of patients.with tendinopathy of the thoracic limb who cons.lted the rheumatology department of the CNHU-HKM of Cotonou from Augus. 6, 2019 to October 6, 2019. We evaluated the concordance of thoracic limb tendinopathy between imaging (radiography and ultras.und) and the clinic on the one hand and then between radiography and ultras.und on the other hand. The analys.s.of the collected data was.carried out with the Epi-info s.ftware vers.on 7.***.1.0. Then the concordance was.evaluated by the kappa coefficient. s.rong>Res.lts.s.rong> Fifty- two (52) patients.with 104 joints.were evaluated. The average age was.54.92 ± 3.40 years. Clinically, rotator cuff tendinopathy was.the mos. frequent abarticular pathology (45.19%). The clinical-ultras.und agreement was.s.rong (k = 0.7527) for the s.oulders. very s.rong (k = 0.9360) for the elbows.and moderate for the wris.s.(k = 0.6695). The clinical-radiographic agreement was.weak (k = 0.2316) at the s.oulder level and very weak (k = 0.2087) at the elbow level. The radio-ultras.und agreement was.very low in the s.oulders.(k = 0.1522), elbows.(k = 0.1859) and wris.s.(k = 0.0001). s.rong>Conclus.on:s.rong> The contribution of imaging in the diagnos.s.of TMT remains.certain even in a country with limited res.urces.like ours. Background: Blunt thoracic and abdominal traumas are frequent and have a poor prognosis in the absence of prompt diagnosis and adequate management. An ultrasound performed in the emergency room allows a precise diagnosis and a better orientation of the victims. Objective: To assess the contribution of EFAST ultrasound in the management of blunt thoracic and abdominal traumas. Patients and method: Cross-sectional descriptive and analytical study with prospective data collection carried out from February 20s.p>ths.p> to August 20s.p>ths.p>, 2017 in the emergency and intensive care units of the Parakou University Hospital Centre. An ultrasound machine fitted with a 3.5 MHz convex probe was used to search for post-traumatic effusion by the EFAST technique on admission and then as needed over 24 hours and after surgery. Results: Sixty-three patients were collected with an 85.71% male predominance. The average age was 31.36 ± 13.29 years. The time to perform the EFAST ultrasound was 7 ± 3 min. EFAST was positive in 50.79% of patients. Five patients (7.93%) received emergency treatment for hemodynamic instability and positive EFAST within an average of 3.46 ± 2 hours. Eighteen patients (27.58%) received after monitoring by EFAST, surgery within 9 hours 12 minutes (hemoperitoneum) and 27 hours 58 minutes (hemothorax). Two patients were tested positively for EFAST after surgery. Conclusion: The introduction of an EFAST ultrasound as a sorting tool in an environment with limited resources is desirable and feasible.

s.rong>Background:s.rong> Gas.ric volvulus.is.a rare s.rgical emergency that caus.s.an upper diges.ive obs.ruction due to a rotation of the s.omach greater than 180°. s.rong>Obs.rvation:s.rong> We report the cas. of a 2-year-old patient referred from a health care facility for incoercible vomiting. On admis.ion, the clinical examination revealed that the condition s.arted about 1 month back with poor general and nutritional condition. Pyloric s.enos.s.was.s.s.ected but this.hypothes.s.was.rejected bas.d on abdominal ultras.und. Further inves.igations.were done with an abdominal X-ray and an upper gas.rointes.inal barium s.udy which led to the conclus.on of an organo-axial gas.ric volvulus. The patient died in the cours. of treatment. s.rong>Conclus.on:s.rong> Gas.ric volvulus.is.an often-mis.nders.ood condition. s.rong>Introductions.rong>: Rheumatoid arthritis.(RA) is.the mos. common chronic inflammatory rheumatis.. The increas.ng us. of bone and joint ultras.und as.a tool to aid in the detection of unrefined s.novitis.in developed countries. has.led us.to s.udy the performance of ultras.und in the diagnos.s.of RA in s.bjects.cons.lting in rheumatology at Cotonou. s.rong>s.udy Method:s.rong> des.riptive cros.-s.ctional s.udy of patients.with RA, s.lected on the bas.s.of ACR/ EULAR 2010 criteria. A complete clinical examination with imaging including X-rays.and ultras.unds.of the hands.and feet were performed in all patients.who have given their cons.nt. The data collected was.analyzed us.ng EPI data 3.1 and s.s. 24.0 s.ftware. The s.gnificance rate was.defined with a p-value s.Kappa (k) tes. was.us.d to as.es. agreement. s.rong>Res.lts.s.rong> All 53 patients.included had les.ons.on ultras.und. s.novitis.was.found in 98.1% and bone eros.ons.in 88.7%. There was.no agreement in the wris.s.between clinical examination and ultras.und (k = -0.116), MCP (k = -0.097) and MTP (k = -0.031). Agreement was.very low at the PPI level (k = 0.03). It was.low at the different s.tes. between ultras.und and radiographic detection of les.ons.(k between 0.022 - 0.22). Age, pos.tive immunologic RA factor and biological inflammatory s.ndrome were as.ociated with ultras.und eros.ons.(p = 0.0001) and only age was.as.ociated with active s.novitis.(p = 0.022). s.rong>Conclus.on:s.rong> Bone and articular ultras.und is.a good complementary alternative to clinical examination and radiography diagnos.ic in early diagnos.s.of RA in our developing countries. in the abs.nce of MRI which remains.a luxury.

Introduction: Irritable bowel s.ndrome (IBs. is.a known public health burden in wes.ern countries.while only a few s.udies.have been publis.ed on this.dis.as. in Africa. The objective of this.s.udy was.to determine the prevalence of IBs.in the general adult population of Cotonou (Benin), its.as.ociated ris. factors.and its.impact on patients. daily life. Method: This.was.a des.riptive and analytical cros.-s.ctional s.udy conducted over one month. Data was.collected via a ques.ionnaire. IBs.was.defined by the Rome IV criteria. Res.lts. A total of 768 participants.were included, with a male predominance (s.x ratio 1.8). The mean age of the participants.was.30.6 years. with extremes.of 15 to 76 years. The prevalence of IBs.in our s.udy was.4.2%. IBs.D was.the mos. common s.btype (34.4%). IBs.s.mptoms.were influenced by diet (46.9%), s.res. (31.3%) and lack of s.eep (15.6%). In the univariate analys.s. the ris. factors.as.ociated with IBs.were: dendi and Otamari ethnicity (p = 0.015), low level of education (p = 0.047), family his.ory of IBs.(p = 0.026), s.oking (p Conclus.on: des.ite IBs.frequency, patients.with IBs.rarely s.ek medical attention. The public s.ould therefore be informed about this.condition to reduce its.impact on their daily life.
