We give a sufficient condition for uniqueness for the pressure/saturation system. We establish this condition through analytic arguments, and then construct 'mobilities' (or mobility-like functions) that satisfy the new condition (when the parameter is 2). For the constructed 'mobilities', we do graphical experiments that show, empirically, that this condition could be satisfied for other values of . These empirical experiments indicate that the usual smoothness condition on the fractional flow function (and on the total mobility), for uniqueness and convergence, might not be necessary. This condition is also sufficient for the convergence of a family of perturbed problems to the original pressure/saturation problem.

Objective: The aim of this study was to show the prognostic role of High Pulse Pressure (PP) in the occurrence of atrial fibrillation in Black African elderly patients. Materials and Methods: In a comparative retrospective study related to 2000 patients admitted to the Institute of Cardiology of Abidjan, from January 1991 to December 2010 for atrial fibrillation, we matched pulse pressure and atrial fibrillation in Black African elderly patients. Results: The mean age of patients was 65 ± 10 years. Patients with high pulse pressure were 4.8 times more at risk to present atrial fibrillation than those with normal pulse pressure. The threshold of high risk pulse pressure was 65 mmHg. Conclusion: Pulse pressure is a factor of bad prognosis of atrial fibrillation in Black African elderly patients.

Plant of Bambusa vulgaris is used in traditional medicine practice for the management of many pathologies including hypertension. The effect of the aqueous extract of the leaves of Bambusa vulgaris on blood pressure was evaluated in normotensive male rabbits. Blood pressure was measured by the invasive method. Thus, aqueous extract of Bambusa vulgaris leaves had been injected intravenously at doses ranging from 1 mg/kg to 30 mg/kg in rabbits anesthetized with thiopental. The effects of this extract on blood pressure were also evaluated in rabbits having previously received different doses of atropine. The aqueous extract of Bambusa vulgaris leaves induced a dose-dependent hypotension which is not canceled in the presence of atropine. The results obtained show that the extract has blood pressure lowering effect which may be mediated by muscarinic-type cholinergic receptors.

ng>Introduction:ng> Vaginal hydrocele is an amber-colored, sterile collection found between the parietal and visceral testis. It is said to be giant when it is larger than the patient’s skull or when it contains more than two liters of liquid. ng>Objective:ng> To report our method and the result of the surgical treatment. ng>Observation:ng> The authors reported an observation of a 50-year-old patient who consulted for a painless large left bursa. Clinical and paraclinical investigations, in particular scrotal ultrasound, have made it possible to diagnose a giant hydrocele of the vagina. The patient had surgical treatment which consisted of resecting of the vagina with hemostatic suture of the resected vaginal slice. The post-operation effects were not complicated. After a six-month setup, we did not notice any recurrence. ng>Conclusion:ng> Resection of the vagina with hemostatic suture of the resected vaginal slice in case of giant hydrocele could certainly give good results.

The effects of variety and tapping length on several physical, biochemical, nutritional and micro-biological parameters (viscosity, pH, Total Titratable Acidity (TTA), fermenting microorganisms, contaminants) of palm wine extracted from two varieties of palm oil tree (Dura and Tenera) were studied. Each variety presented its own palm wine specific characteristics regarding the chosen parameters. Microbiological and biochemical contents of palm wine were determined during the tapping of Dura and Tenera felled oil palm trees for 4 weeks. Some differences in chemical compositions between fresh palm wine samples of two palm trees varieties were observed. The exudates obtained during the first day of tapping of Dura palm wine were very sugary, less sour and did not contain substantial concentrations of alcohol but the highest loads of microorganisms were observed in Tenera palm wine. Throughout the tapping of palm wine, yeasts and lactic acid bacteria population changed with undoubtedly influence on the palm wine quality.

ng>Introduction-Objective:ng> al;">The clinical management of hypertension is well codified. It is based on drug and non-drug therapies, including regular physical activity. The aim was to evaluate the knowledge of physicians on the importance of regular physical activity (RPA) in the care of hypertensive patients at the Institute of Cardiology of Abidjan (ICA). Material and Methods: That was a prospective and descriptive study carried out from July 20, 2019 to September 7, 2019 at the Outpatient Department of the ICA. Our study population consisted of 32 physicians from the Outpatient Department of the ICA. To achieve our goal, we developed a questionnaire for the physicians, which included seventeen items related to the socio-occupational characteristics, to the level of knowledge of hypertension, to the attitudes and the practices in the management of hypertension, and to the factors limiting the accessibility to the practice of a physical activity. Results: The majority of the health professionals in our study were men (62.50%). Among 32 physicians, 56.25% were cardiologists and 75% had a seniority in position of 1 to 4 years. 81.25% of the physicians responded that the hypertensive patients could not only benefit from non-drug means. The suggestion of a complementary physical activity (jogging and brisk walking) to the hypertension treatment was found 137.5 times. Jogging and brisk walking were the main types of physical activity which were suggested to patients. all the physicians responded 3 times per week when they were asked about the frequency of activities proposed for the clinical management of patients with hypertension. Regarding the medical prescription on the type, frequency, and duration of RPA to patients, there was some discrepancy, although the majority of healthcare professionals recommended brisk walking and jogging. Introduction: Developing countries are characterized by a high maternal mortality rate, particulary related to the management of childbirth. The author describes in this work 588 childbirth labors that took place without any medical supervision. Method: all patients who reached the hospital with a full cervix dilation were included in the study. The outcomes of those childbirth labors without medical supervision were evaluated at the maternal and neonatal level. Results and Discussion: The average age of the patients was 28.1 ± 13 years with 47% nulliparous and 30% pauciparous. These patients represented 14% of all births;59% of the patients had had three and five prenatal consultations. 71% of them came straight from home and had meconium-stained amniotic fluid. The APGAR score was greater than 6 in 94% of newborns, and 66.7 of them weighed between 2500 and 3500 g. Only 0.9% of patients coming from home needed a caesarean section. Conclusion: Home birth is not yet possible in Africa because it is not supervised by professionals who know the risks of childbirth, its complications and recognize the warning signs;however, the results of this preliminary study show that the issue of home childbirth in Côte d’Ivoire can be reconsidered subject to greater involvement of medical staffs.

In Western countries, the current trend is to use sequential quadruple therapy or bismuth-based instead of triple therapy for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). In sub-Saharan Africa, high prevalence area of the H. pylori infection, the effectiveness of these triple therapies widely used in routine has been little evaluated. The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of three patterns of first-line triple therapy based on combining a proton pump inhibitors (PPI), and 3 types of antibiotics: omeprazole (O), amoxicillin (A), clarythromycin (C) and metronidazole (M). Patients and Methods: This is a randomized clinical trial opened on 3 parallel arms: OAM (group 1 or G1), OAC (group 2 or G2) or OCM (group 3 or G3). The primary endpoint was H. pylori eradication rate after seven days triple therapy. H. pylori diagnosis infection was based on bacterium detection on the histological examination of the gastric biopsies. Histological control was performed 4 weeks after the end of treatment to assess H. pylori eradication rate. Results: The average age of our 153 patients included in the study (86 men) was 44.33 ± 11.72 years. The main reason of the endoscopy was the dyspeptic syndrome (75.16%). The gastroscopy was normal in 28.76%. A Gastric or duodenal peptic ulcer was found in 17% of cases and gastropathy in 45.75%. Histologically, the GC was active in 90.9% of cases, follicular in 35.3% of cases, atrophic in 22.5% of cases and was associated with intestinal metaplasia (IM) in 5.2% of cases. Patients of these three groups (n = 64 for G1, n = 56 for G2 and n = 33 for G3) were comparable for age, gender, endoscopy indications, alcohol consumption history or smoking, and anti-inflammatory drugs taking. Approximately 23% of patients experienced adverse reactions. The overall H. pylori eradication rate was 22.3%.
