We describe a novel technique, low surface energy Gas Expansion Molding （GEM）, to fabricate microbubble arrays in polydimethylsiloxane （PDMS） which are incorporated into parallel plate flow chambers and tested in cell sorting and microcell cutt.r. applications. this architect.r. confers several operational advantages that distinguish this technology approach from currently used methods. Herein we describe the GEM process and the paramet.r. that are used to control microbubble formation and a Vacuum-Assisted Coating （VAC） process developed to selectively and spatially alt.r.the PDMS surface chemistry in the wells and on the microchannel surface. We describe results from microflow image visualization studies conducted to investigate fluid streams above and within microbubble wells and conclude with a discussion of cell cult.r. studies in PDMS.

Gibberellins （GAs） cause dramatic increases in plant height and a genetic block in the synthesis of GA1 explains the dwarfing of Mendel＇s pea. For flowering, it is GAs which is important in the long-day （LD） responsive grass, Loliurn. As we show here, GA1 and GA4 are restricted in their effectiveness for flowering because they are deactivated by C-2 hydroxylation below the shoot apex. In contrast, GAs is effective because of its struct.r.l protection at C-2. Excised vegetative shoot tips rapidly degrade [14C]GA1, [14C]GA4, and [14C]GA20 （〉80% in 6 h）, but not [14C]GAs. CoincidentaUy, genes encoding two 2β-oxidases and a putative 16-17-epoxidase were most expressed just below the shoot apex （〈3 mm）. Further down the immat.r. stem （〉4 mm）, expression of these GA deactivation genes is reduced, so allowing GA1 and GA4 to promote sub-apical stem elongation. Subsequently, GA degradation declines in florally induced shoot tips and these GAs can become active for floral development. Struct.r.l changes which stabilize GA4 confirm the link between florigenicity and restricted GA 2β-hydroxylation （e.g. 2α-hydroxylation and C-2 di-methylation）. Additionally, a 2-oxidase inhibit.r.（trinexapac Ethyl） enhanced the activity of applied GA4, as did limiting C-16,17 epoxidation in 16,17-dihydro GAs or aft.r.C-13 hydroxylation. Overall, deactivation of GA1 and GA4 just below the shoot apex effectively restricts their florigenicity in Loliurn and, conversely, with GAs, C-2 and C-13 protection against deactivation allows its high florigenicity. Speculatively, such differences in GA access to the shoot apex of grasses may be important for separating floral induction from inflorescence emergence and thus could influence their survival under conditions of herbivore predation.

Background:Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common cause of cancer-related death in Saudi Arabia. Our study aimed to investigate the patt.r.s of HCC and the effect of tNM staging, Alfa-fetoprotein (AFP), and Child-t.r.otte Pugh (CtP) on patients' overall survival (OS).Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on 43 HCC patients at a single oncology cent.r.in Saudi Arabia from 2015 to 2020. All patients had to fulfill one of the following crit.r.a: (a) a liver lesion reported as definitive HCC on dynamic imaging and/or (b) a biopsy-confirmed diagnosis.results:the mean patient age of all HCC cases was 66.8 with a male-to-female ratio of 3.3:1. All patients were stratified into two groups: viral HCC (n = 22, 51%) and non-viral HCC (n = 21, 49%). Among viral-HCC patients, 55% were due to HBV and 45% due to HCV. Cirrhosis was diagnosed in 79% of cases. Age and sex did not significantly statistically differ in OS among viral and non-viral HCC patients (-value > 0.05). About 65% of patients had tumor size >5 cm during the diagnosis, with a significant statistical difference in OS (-value = 0.027). AFP was >400 ng/ml in 45% of the patients. there was a statistically significant difference in the OS in t.r.s of AFP levels (-value = 0.021). A statistically significant difference was also observed between the CtP score and OS (-value = 0.02). CtP class B had the longest survival. BSC was the most common treatment provided to HCC patients followed by sorafenib therapy. there was a significant statistical difference in OS among viral and non-viral HCC patients (-value = 0.008).Conclusions:the most common predict.r. for OS were the underlying cause of HCC, AFP, and tumor size. Being having non-viral etiology, a tumor size >5 cm, an AFP > 400 ng/mL, and a CtP score class C were all negatively associated with OS.
