Barley(Hordeum vulgare ***)is one of the first crops to be domesticated and is adapted to a wide range of *** barley germplasm collections possess valuable allelic variations that could further improve barley *** barley genomics has offered a global picture of allelic variation among varieties and its association with various agronomic traits,polymorphisms from East Asian varieties remain *** this study,we analyze exome polymorphisms in a panel of 274 barley varieties collected worldwide,including 137 varieties from East Asian countries and *** reveal the underlying population structure and conduct genome-wide association studies for 10 agronomic ***,we examin genome-wide associations for traits related to grain size such as awn length and glume *** results demonstrate the value of diverse barley germplasm panels containing Eastern varieties,highlighting their distinct genomic signatures relative to Western subpopulations.

The existence of excess sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS)molecules in a single-walled carbon nanotube(SWNT)solution dispersed by hybridization with SDS leads to unstable atomic force microscopy(AFM)*** this study,we demonstrate sequential dialysis against pure water in order to remove excess SDS molecules from an SDS-SWNT hybrid dispersion.A 1:102 volume ratio of SDS-SWNT dispersion to water in the dialysis was found to be effective in realizing stable AFM observations of the SDS-SWNT hybrids despite imperfect filtering of SDS via *** the other hand,the SDS-SWNT hybrids were stable even when this volume ratio was 1:***,the SDS-SWNT hybrids were present in the solution even when the dialyzed samples were stored for 14 *** results reveal that dialysis under optimal conditions enables improved handling of SDS-SWNT hybrids,particularly for stable AFM observations.

北海道のもち米は,従来,硬化性が低く硬くなりにくいため,おこわや和菓子などに向く。しかし,東北以南の銘柄もち米に比べ,精米蛋白含有率(蛋白質)が高く,精米白度や搗き餅の食味が劣っていた。さらに,近年には需要を広げるため,切り餅·成型餅および米菓に向く搗き餅の硬化性が高い品種の育成も要望された。そこで,新品種の早期開発のために世代促進栽培や葯培養を行い,選抜効率を高めるため初期世代から玄米と精米の白度,蛋白質および硬化性と関係がある糊化特性の機器による分析を,また少量もち米による硬化性を実測し,さらに中期世代からのおこわや搗き餅の食味試験などを行い,農業形質とともに品質改良を進めた。その結果,近年の育成品種では粒大が大きく,穂ばらみ期と開花期の両障害型耐冷性も強く生産の安定性が向上した。さらに,育成年次が新しい品種ほど蛋白質が低く,蛋白質と負の相関関係がある精米白度が高くなった。また,おこわや搗き餅の食味も向上した。一方,搗き餅の硬化性については,従来の低い品種だけで無く,粳品種を母本として硬化性が高い品種も育成された。しかし,東北以南の銘柄もち米には搗き餅の食味や硬化性の高さがまだ及ばず,さらに改良を進める必要がある。

From the viewpoints of environmental protection, support for the aged and ensuring the right to mobility, there is a need to develop a new type of mobility vehicle that provides more effective transportation. The authors propose an inverted pendulum vehicle with pedals as one of the forms of personal mobility vehicles （PMVs）. In this paper, the steering performance of the inverted pendulum vehicle with pedals is discussed based on experiments on a prototype. From the experimental results, it was confirmed that the errors from the five subjects for the target trajectory and the five-grade evaluation of the maneuverability were similar. Finally, we created an inverted pendulum vehicle with pedals to which was added a reaction actuator for the steering system. From the experimental results, it was found that setting appropriate feedback gains for the handle steering angle and its rate of rotation, which control the right and left wheel driving torques, resulted in greatly improved maneuverability. Controlling the immune response with only clinically approved immunosuppressant drugs is difficult in renal heterotra ns plantation from pigs to nonhuman ***,to the best of our knowledge,no reports exist on the use of fetal pigs as kidney *** study aimed to compare the degree of transplant rejection between neonatal and fetal kidneys,with genetically unmodified pigs as donors and cynomolgus monkeys as *** left kidneys of the recipient monkeys were removed,followed by transplantation of neonatal as well as fetal pig kidneys,which had undergone vascular anastomosis at the same site,into the *** was performed with only US Food and Drug Administration-approved *** fetal kidneys were transplanted into the omentum and paraaortic regions of cynomolgus ***,the engraftment and development of the transplanted tissues were pathologically examined by sampling over time(twice in each experiment).An acute rejection was observed after a few weeks in neonatal renal grafts with vascular ***,fetal pig kidneys were spared from rejection despite the administration of the same immunosuppressive protocol to the monkeys and the recipient blood vessels flowing into the fetal *** immunogenicity of fetal kidneys in pig-monkey renal heterotransplantation was lower than that of neonatal kidneys.

Case of colonic intussusception secondary to mobile cecum syndrome repaired by laparoscopic cecopexy using a barbed wound suture device

A 27-year-old man with recurrent right lower quadrant pain was admitted to our hospital. Ultrasonography and computed tomography examination of the abdomen revealed a target sign in the ascending colon, which was compatible with the diagnosis of cecal intussusception. The intussusception was spontaneously resolved at that time, but it relapsed 6 mo later. The patient underwent a successful colonoscopic disinvagination; there was no evidence of neoplastic or inflammatory lesions in the colon and terminal ileum. The patient underwent laparoscopic surgery for recurring cecal intussusception. During laparoscopy, we observed an unfixed cecum on the posterior peritoneum(i.e. a mobile cecum). Thus, we performed laparoscopic appendectomy and cecopexy with a lateral peritoneal flap using a barbed wound suture device. The patient's post-operative course was uneventful, and he continued to do well without recurrence at 10 mo after surgery. Laparoscopic cecopexy using a barbed wound suture device is a simple and reliable procedure that can be the treatment of choice for recurrent cecal intussusception associated with a mobile cecum.
