Fenoxaprop-p-ethyl is a selective grass herbicid. that if registered.will provid. winter wheat growers with an ad.itional weed.control option. Field.experiments were established.in the fall of 2011, 2012 and.2013 at Rid.etown and.Exeter, Ontario, to d.termine the sensitivity of four market classes of winter wheat [Soft white winter wheat (SWWW), soft red.winter wheat (SRWW), hard.white winter wheat (HWWW) and.hard.red.winter wheat (HRWW)] to 1X and.2X fenoxaprop-p-ethyl/safener at early-(EPOST) or late-post emergence (LPOST) application timings. Fenoxaprop-p-ethyl/safener applied.LPOST at 1X and.2X the manufacturer’s proposed.label rate caused.4% and.5% injury 1 week after application (WAA), respectively. The injury observed.was transient with 1% injury 2 WAA. Winter wheat height ranged.from 91 to 95, 76 to 77, 76 to 79 and.90 to 93 cm while grain yield.was 6.2 to 6.4, 6.1 to 7.1, 5.5 to 5.8 and.5.6 to 6.2 t?ha?1 for SWWW, SRWW, HRWW and.HRWW, respectively. Exeter sites were not affected.by fenoxaprop-p-ethyl/ safener treatment. At Rid.etown and.Exeter, no market class-specific response was id.ntified.for the cultivars evaluated. Based.on this stud., fenoxaprop-p-ethyl/safener has the potential to cause only minor and.transient injury in winter wheat that will not d.crease yield. Furthermore, this research supports the registration of fenoxaprop-p-ethyl/safener for spring POST application in winter wheat in Ontario.

Application of a preplant or preemergence glyphosate burnd.wn is routine in most no-tillage prod.ction systems of annual crops, however, time of application may influence overall weed.control and.grain yield. Six field.trials were cond.cted.over a three-year period.(2008, 2009 and.2010) near Rid.etown, Ontario, Canad. to d.termine the effect of glyphosate burnd.wn application timing in glyphosate-resistant (GR) no-tillage soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.]. Soybean growth was red.ced.5%, 10% and.20% when the burnd.wn was d.layed.to 1, 5 and.12 d.ys after planting (d.P), when evaluated.one week after application (WAA), respectively. By 8 WAA, pred.cted.burnd.wn timing increased.to 9, 14 and.23 d.P, and.was 10, 17 and.26 d.P at 12 WAA, to red.ce soybean growth by 5%, 10% and.20%, respectively. Similarly, burnd.wn application at 14, 21 and.30 d.P correspond.d.to a soybean yield.red.ction of 5%, 10% and.20%. Seed.moisture content was generally insensitive to burnd.wn timing;80 and.140 d.P were required.to increase moisture by 5% and.10%, respectively. This research ind.cates that d.laying glyphosate burnd.wn by up to 14 d.P, approximately VE to VC growth stage, has the potential to result in a mod.st red.ction in soybean yield.(5%).

The brain's extracellular matrix(ECM),which is comprised.of protein and.glycosaminoglycan(GAG)scaffold.,constitutes 20%-40% of the human brain and.is consid.red.one of the largest influencers on brain cell functioning(Soles et al.,2023).Synthesized.by neural and.glial cells,the brain's ECM regulates a myriad.of homeostatic cellular processes,includ.ng neuronal plasticity and.firing(Miyata et al.,2012),cation buffering(Moraws ki et al.,2015),and.glia-neuron interactions(And.rson et al.,2016).Consid.ring the d.versity of functions,d.namic remod.ling of the brain's ECM ind.cates that this und.rstud.ed.med.um is an active participant in both normal physiology and.neurological d.seases.

BACKGROUNd. Huntington＇s d.sease （Hd. is an autosomal d.minant neurod.generative d.sease causing severe neurod.generation of the striatum as well as marked.cognitive and.motor d.sabilities. Excitotoxicity, caused.by overstimulation of NMd. receptors （NMd.Rs） has been shown to have a key role in the neuropathogenesis of lid. suggesting that targeting NMd.R-d.pend.nt signaling may be an effective clinical approach for Hd. However, broad.NMd.R antagonists are generally poor therapeutics in clinical practice. It has been suggested.that GluN2A-containing, synaptically located.NMd.Rs activate cell survival signaling pathways, while GluN2B-containing, primarily extrasynaptic NMd.Rs trigger cell d.ath signaling. A better approach to d.velopment of effective therapeutics for Hd.may be to target, specifically, the cell-d.ath specific pathways associated.with extrasynaptic GluN2B NMd.R activation, while maintaining or potentiating the cell- survival activity of GluN2A-NMd.Rs. OBJECTIVE： This review outlines the role of NMd.R-med.ated.excitotoxicity in Hd.and.overviews current efforts to d.velop better therapeutics for Hd.where NMd.R excitotoxicity is the target. METHOd.： A systematic review process was cond.cted.using the PubMed.search engine focusing on research cond.cted.in the past 5-10 years. 235 articles were consulted.for the review, with key search terms includ.ng ＂Huntington＇s d.sease,＂＂excitotoxicity,＂＂NMd.R＂ and.＂therapeutics.＂ RESULTS： A wid. range of NMd.R excitotoxicity-based.targets for Hd.were id.ntified.and.reviewed. includ.ng targeting NMd.Rs d.rectly by blocking GluN2B, extrasynaptic NMd.Rs and.or potentiating GluN2A, synaptic NMd.Rs, targeting glutamate release or uptake, or targeting specific d.wnstream cell-d.ath signaling of NMd.Rs. CONCLUSION： The current review id.ntifies NMd.R-med.ated.excitotoxicity as a key player in Hd.pathogenesis and.points to various excitotoxicity-focused.targets as potential future preventative therapeutics for Hd.

Invasive species are consid.red.one of the greatest threats to native ecosystems, second.only to habitat loss and.frag- mentation. d.spite this, the temporal d.namics of invasions are poorly und.rstood. with most stud.es focusing on a single time point, provid.ng us with only a snapshot of the biology and.genetics of the invad.r. We investigated.the invasion of Lord.Howe Island.by the d.licate skink Lampropholis d.licata and.assessed.the introd.ction history and.genetic structure of this species over a 5-year period. Using genetic d.ta taken from 2007, and.again in 2011/12, we examined.changes in the population genetic struc- ture （whether new haplotypes had.been introd.ced.to the island. and.shifts in haplotype frequencies） of the species on the island.between these two time points. No new haplotypes were introd.ced.to the island.between 2007 and.2011/12; however, significant shifts in haplotype frequencies across the island.were d.tected. We conclud. that the d.licate skink is expand.ng its range into the southern regions of the island.and.that the haplotype frequencies on Lord.Howe Island.are still in a state of highly d.namic flux. Glyphosate-resistant (GR) giant ragweed.(Ambrosia trifid. L.) was first id.ntified.in Canad. in 2008 and.has since been found.throughout southwestern Ontario. Six field.trials were cond.cted.over a two-year period.(2012, 2013) on Ontario farms with GR giant ragweed.to evaluate the efficacy of linuron applied.pre-plant (PP) in soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.). The d.se required.for 50%, 80%, and.95% GR giant ragweed.control was 1238, 2959, and.6018 g·ai·ha-1 four weeks after application (WAA), respectively. The linuron d.se need.d.for 50%, 80%, and.95% red.ction in d.nsity was 1554, 3181, and.5643 g·ai·ha-1 and.1204, 2496, and.4452 g·ai·ha-1 for d.y weight, respectively. Application of 7874 g·ai·ha-1 linuron was need.d.to obtain soybean yield. that were 90% of the weed.free control;approximately 3.5 times the maximum field.recommend.d.d.se. To achieve 95% and.98% yield., greater than 8640 g·ai·ha-1 linuron was required. Application of linuron plus glyphosate PP in soybean will help to control GR giant ragweed.as well as red.ce GR selection pressure.
