Generalized Anxiety and Major Depressive Symptoms of General Public in South Korea during the Early COVID-19 Pandemic

The extent of viral spread and strategies in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic have been different in each.*** are overall increased mental health concerns in many countries but it is unclear what the general public individuals who do not have heighten vulnerability to stressors for existing mental diseases or significant physical illnesses were experiencing during the *** evaluated the stressors and mental health of general public in South Korea that has a relatively low confirmed cases and *** on the on-line survey questions were used to assess the mental and physical symptoms in association with individuals’reported *** with the symptoms of the generalized anxiety disorder(GAD)were reported in 58.9%,and major depression(MD)in 23.2%,mostly in minimal to mild degrees,cut-off scores of 5 and 10,respectively by the validated screening tools,GAD-7 and *** GAD and MD symptoms were in 21.5%of the *** total number of stress had significant association with the scores of GAD-7,PHQ-9,physical symptoms,sleep difficulties and resilience(pnd raising young ch.ldren(pn,and educational level(pns of the study include small sample size,usage of smartphone or email,potential under-reporting by stigma in the socio-cultural context and evolving nature of *** conclude that keeping careful watch.for mental symptoms,stressors,sleep difficulties and other physical symptoms are important even for the individuals without previous mental illnesses during the pandemic era.

Biosensor development has recently advanced as a result of their strong and indisputable uses as analytical methods in a variety of sectors,including medicine,food industry,environmental monitoring,metabolism,agriculture,military,and *** popularity of biosensors as devices for a variety of applications may be ascribed to their distinct advantages of fast or rapid analysis,high sensitivity,minimal sample demand and preparation,and no need for the specific skill of operation that traditional analytical procedures *** attempted to update earlier studies in this study by incorporating other materials that have been in use but have received less attention,such.as carbon nano-onions(CnOs),metal-organic frameworks(MOFs),and biopolymers for biosensor manufacturing and design based on their unique *** assessment also took into account applicable applications in many *** considerable progress has been made in the application of biosensors,there is still a need for research.development and enhancement,particularly in transforming most of the laboratory experiments that have already been published into portable on-site and implementable in the public domains.

An in vivo Evaluation of Ultra-fine Grained Titanium Implants

The present work focuses mainly on an in vivo evaluation of ultra fine grained titanium （UFG-Ti） obtained by severe plastic deformation （SPD）. The SPD on commercially produced Grade 2 titanium （Cp-Ti） resulted in the refinement of the grain size by several orders of magnitude. Polished surfaces having similar roughness from both UFG-Ti and Cp-Ti were prepared. In vitro test revealed the presence of fibronectin, which.was involved in the attach.ent of the cells to the substrate. Phase contrast micrographs showed the highest signal of fibronectin in UFG-Ti, indicating that it is more cytocompatible than Cp-Ti. In vivo tests, by subcutaneous implantation of the metals in the rats showed the better biocompatibility of UFG-Ti over Cp-Ti. The improved biocompatibility of UFG-Ti was attributed to the presence of surface discontinuities （in the form of nano-defects）, surface energy, higher wettability, surface stress and stable TiO2 films, which.increased the protein adsorption on the surface.

On a novel Eccentricity-based Invariant of a Graph

In this paper, for the purpose of measuring the non-self-centrality extent of non-self- centered graphs, a novel eccerttricity-based invariant, named as non-self-centrality number （nSC num- ber for short）, of a graph G is defined as follows： n（G） =∑vi,vj∈V（G）｜ei-ej｜ where the summation goes over all the unordered pairs of vertices in G and ei is the eccentricity of vertex vi in G, whereas the invariant will be called third Zagreb eccentricity index if the summation only goes over the adja- cent vertex pairs of graph G. In this paper, we determine the lower and upper bounds on n（G） and ch.racterize the corresponding graphs at which.the lower and upper bounds are attained. Finally we propose some attractive research.topics for this new invariant of graphs.

Microglia as hackers of the matrix:sculpting synapses and the extracellular space

Microglia shape the synaptic environment in health and disease,but synapses do not exist in a ***,pre-and postsynaptic terminals are surrounded by extracellular matrix(ECM),which.together with glia comprise the four elements of the contemporary tetrapartite synapse *** research.in this area is still just beginning,accumulating evidence points toward a novel role for microglia in regulating the ECM during normal brain homeostasis,and such.processes may,in turn,become dysfunctional in *** it relates to synapses,microglia are reported to modify the perisynaptic matrix,which.is the diffuse matrix that surrounds dendritic and axonal terminals,as well as perineuronal nets(Pnns),specialized reticular formations of compact ECM that enwrap neuronal subsets and stabilize proximal *** interconnected relationship between synapses and the ECM in which.they are embedded suggests that alterations in one structure necessarily affect the dynamics of the other,and microglia may need to sculpt the matrix to modify the synapses ***,we provide an overview of the microglial regulation of synapses,perisynaptic matrix,and Pnns,propose candidate mech.nisms by which.these structures may be modified,and present the implications of such.modifications in normal brain homeostasis and in disease.

Computational approach.s for fast generation of digital 3D video holograms(Invited Paper)

Several approach.s for fast generation of digital holograms of a three-dimensional （3D） object have been discussed. Among them, the novel look-up table （n-LUT） method is analyzed to dramatically reduce the number of pre-calculated fringe patterns required for computation of digital holograms of a 3D object by employing a new concept of principal fringe patterns, so that problems of computational complexity and huge memory size of the conventional ray-tracing and look-up table methods have been considerably alleviated. Meanwhile, as the 3D video images have a lot of temporally or spatially redundant data in their inter- and intra-frames, computation time of the 3D video holograms could be also reduced just by removing these redundant data. Thus, a couple of computational methods for generation of 3D video holograms by combined use of the n-LUT method and data compression algorithms are also presented and discussed. Some experimental results finally reveal that by using this approach.a great reduction of computation time of 3D video holograms could be ach.eved.

Boosted Lithium-Ion Transport Kinetics in n-Type Siloxene Anodes Enabled by Selective nucleophilic Substitution of Phosphorus

Doped two-dimensional(2D)materials hold significant promise for advancing many tech.ologies,such.as microelectronics,optoelectronics,and energy ***,n-type 2D oxidized Si nanosheets,namely n-type siloxene(n-SX),are employed as Li-ion battery *** thermal evaporation of sodium hypophosphite at 275℃,P atoms are effectively incorporated into siloxene(SX)without compromising its 2D layered morphology and unique Kautsky-type crystal ***,selective nucleophilic substitution occurs,with only Si atoms being replaced by P atoms in the O_(3)≡Si-H *** resulting n-SX possesses two delocalized electrons arising from the presence of two electron donor types:(i)P atoms residing in Si sites and(ii)H *** doping concentrations are varied by controlling the amount of precursors or their mean free *** at 2000 mA g^(-1),the n-SX electrode with the optimized doping concentration(6.7×10^(19) atoms cm^(-3))delivers a capacity of 594 mAh g^(-1) with a 73%capacity retention after 500 *** improvements originate from the enhanced kinetics of ch.rge transport processes,including electronic conduction,ch.rge transfer,and solid-state *** approach.proposed herein offers an unprecedented route for engineering SX anodes to boost Li-ion storage.

Electroactive self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) containing viologen group are formed through the adsorption of thiol-functionalized viologen compound ch.(ch.)(9)V2+(ch.)(8)SH, where V2+ is n,n'-dialkylbipyridinium (i.e. a viologen group), onto gold electrodes from methanol/water solution and its electroch.mical behavior is investigated ty Ac voltammetry and square wave voltammetry, which.have the high sensitivity against background ch.rging. The viologen SAM formed is a sub-monolayer and the normal potentials corresponding to the two successive one-electron transfer processes of the active centers (viologen) are -360 mV and -750 mV (vs. Ag/AgCl) in 0.1 mol/L phosphate buffer solutions (pH 6.96) respectively, and the standard electron transfer rate constant is 9.0 s(-1). The electroch.mical behavior of this SAM in various solutions has been preliminarily discussed.

Inexpensive synthesis of a high-performance Fe3O4-SiO2-TiO2 photocatalyst： Magnetic recovery and reuse

A sol-gel tech.ique has been developed for the synthesis of a magnetite-silica-titania （Fe3O4-SiO2-TiO2） tertiary nanocomposite with improved photocatalytic properties based on the use of inexpensive titania and silica precursors. The exceptional photocatalytic activity of the resulting materials was demonstrated by using them to photocatalyze the degradation of methylene blue solution. The best formulation ach.eved 98% methylene blue degradation. An interesting feature of the present work was the ability to magnetically separate and reuse the catalyst. The efficiency of the catalyst remained high during two reuses. The synthesized nanomaterials were ch.racterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, transmission electron micro- scopy （TEM）, Fourier transform infrared （FTIR） spectro- scopy, ultra-violet-visible spectroscopy, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. XRD ana- lysis revealed the formation of multicrystalline systems of cubic magnetite and anatase titania crystals. SEM and TEM ch.racterization revealed well-developed and homo- geneously dispersed particles of size less than 15 nm. FTIR spectra confirmed the ch.mical interaction of titania and silica. It was further noticed that the optical properties of the prepared materials were dependent on the relative contents of their constituent metal oxides.

Comparative study of Sm^(3+) ions doped phosphate based oxide and oxy-fluoride glasses for solid state lighting applications

The physical and luminescent properties of Sm^(3+)-doped oxide and oxy-fluoride phosphate glasses were investigated. The glass samples with ch.mical composition of 69 P_2 O_5-10 BaO-10 ZnO-10 Gd_2 O_3-1 Sm_2 O_3 and 69 P_2 O_5-10 BaO-10 ZnO-10 GdF_3-1 Sm_2 O_3 were prepared by conventional melt quench.ng tech.ique. The prepared glass samples were ch.racterized with density, molar volume, refractive index,FTIR, UV-Vis-nIR, photo luminesce nce, radio luminescence, decay time profile and CIE diagram. The density and refractive index of the oxide glass have higher values as compared to the oxy-fluoride *** FTIR spectra show the reduction of O-H group in oxy-fluoride glass. The ch.racteristic peaks of Sm^(3+)are observed at 360,372,402,438,419,473,944,1077,1227,1373,1474,1529 and 1585 nm in UV-VIS-nIR spectra. These peaks are related respectively to the transitions from ground state ~6 H_(5/2) to ~4 D_(3/2), ~6 P_(7/2),6 P3/2, ~4 I_(11/2), ~6 F_(11/2), ~6 F_(9/2), ~6 F_(7/2),~6 F_(5/2),~6 F_(3/2), ~6 H_(15/2) and ~6 F_(1/2) excited states. From photoluminescence and radio-luminesce nce it is observed that the oxy-fluoride glass samples show better emission intensity than the oxide glass. The Judd-Ofelt theory(J-0 theory) was used to find J-O intensity Ω_λ(λ = 2,4 and 6)parameters and radiative properties such.as transition probability, stimulated emission cross section and branch.ng ratios for titled glasses. The trend observed in the J-O parameters is Ω_4 >Ω_2 >Ω_6. The transition probability,emission cross section and branch.ng ratio have the highest values for the ~4 G_(5/2)→~6 H_(7/2)transition. The CIE coordinates of the prepared glass samples are positioned in the orange region and the CCT value is 3776.105 for oxide and oxyfluoride glass. The oxy-fluoride glass has shorter decay time as compared to the oxide glass and it is recorded to be 1.62 and 1.32 ms for oxide and oxy-fluoride respectively.
